As a Canes fan that 4OT loss is gonna haunt me for a long time especially knowing Martin Necas could’ve sealed it on a breakaway in the 3rd period

2022: Lightning win Eastern Conference
2023: Panthers win Eastern Conference

Fun Fact: The NBA and NHL both resulted in the same matchup.
Both leagues have the best team in the West (Denver Nuggest and Vegas Golden Knights) going up against the last team to makw the playoffs in the East (Miami Heat and Florida Panthers).
Edit: the simularities go even further. Both the Nuggets and Knights finished with the 4th best records in their respective leagues.
I’ll go even further, all four teams in the finals had a chance a sweep. Instead only one of each sport was allowed a sweep. The remaining two extended for ratings and profit. Almost seems rigged cause both NBA & NHL were squawking about a reverse sweep history, with two green jersey teams.
I think a four way sweep would’ve been more historic.

@@xzaviuraurai I’ll go even further: both teams had to defeat the best team in the regular season, followed by a team who sucks in the playoffs usually, and then 2 seeds. Both East teams are based in Miami, and connecting the Knights and Nuggets together, their NFL teams in that same exact city are in the same division.

As a Panthers fan, I am beyond excited for this! And I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about Paul Maurice as a coach that could get this team going into the playoffs at all.
I don’t know if they’ll win the Cup, but it has been fun and I’ve enjoyed it greatly, because it can easily take another 27 years to get here. Let’s Go Panthers!!

Because it's taken the Panthers 27 years to finally get back to a Cup Final, and because the future can be an uncertain one for any NHL club at any time, for that reason alone, I feel like I want to see the Panthers win. Yes, Bill Foley brashly stated back in 2017 'A Cup in 6 years, that's our expectation' for the Golden Knights, so they're practically right on schedule it would appear. But the Panthers have been such an electrifying story in these playoffs...yes, even after they laid waste to the Leafs ;-) ...that I really feel like I want to see the Panthers win & complete one of the greatest, Herculean playoff runs in recent memory. This was the first year I truly paid attention to the playoffs and man was it great. The Kraken may not have made it all the way but they were a blast to watch. It felt like the entire state came together to root for them, it was great. And all the insane stuff that happened, man I’m addicted to this now. Can’t wait to see who wins between Vegas and Florida and I’m already waiting for next year
Knights fan in WA state, I would’ve loved a Kraken vs Knights Western Finals. Better yet to see the Kraken sink… miserable freaking state.
Playoff hockey tends to do that to people. Welcome to the experience, buddy. I might be a Leafs fan, but much like Tree did with the Sharks, I’m developing a soft spot for the Kraken. I blame DeBoer, eventually people will figure out that he won’t get them there. The Stars had the talent to get them there but Pete is stubborn and gets out coached by his betters. Also Joe is a 38 yr old who plays like a 28 yr old, meanwhile Suter is a 38 yr old who plays like a 38 yr old.
You can blame Jamie Benn. Team played better when he was off the ice. It seemed like the Stars were playing to make sure he could play on opening night next season rather than win the cup this season.
