    thanks for the video ; is it possible to run the imaging edge app via wifi or bluetooth between the camera and laptop instead of wired usb cable as I would want to power the camera via the micro usb port with a powerbank to get long shooting periods and not rely on a battery?

      I have tried to come up with a solution to that problem, too. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a tool to allow that to work. However, Sony does have a power supply/multi-battery charger that would provide power. The NPA-MQZ1K Multi Battery Adapter Kit can charge up to 4 batteries or use multiple batteries to provide power to the camera for extended times, leaving the usb port free for Imaging Edge. It isn't cheap...almost $398. There are other power options available on amazon that would provide extended power at a much lower price but I don't have any experience with them.

      @harrygee4119 Did you happen to find a solution to your question? I am just getting into Timelapse and wondering the same thing.

      Hi no I never got a solution to this problem .Its crazy that the RX10 does not have interval timer and I guess it wont get an update
      So if I wanted to do interval I would use my Panny compact TZ100 or my Samsung Ultra s21 instead! cheers

    Great information, but way too complicated for me. How can I lug my Mac into a forest or mountain to take time lapses? I really miss this app that was on my RX10 M II, but it kept failing and Sony replaced it, and I was able to upgrade to the M IV that does not have the app. GoPros and my iPhone make time lapses easy, but the RX10 would take better quality ones, and I can zoom.
    Why can't I just have an app on my phone that can trigger multiple shots to make a time lapse? Using the Imaging Edge Mobile app, I can take single pictures remotely - why couldn't that do it?
    Thanks for the video anyway.

    thank you very much for the information, it is great to see so many possibilities to take time lapse with this camera. The clicks in the video actually helped me to focus on what you are saying, great idea. do you have any information on how is this camera cooperating with the syrup genie mini? Have a blessed New year ! :)

      I don't have any direct experience with the Syrp Genie Mini, but did some research and the RX10iv should work fine with it. The Syrp site doesn't list a cable for the RX10iv, but they do list one for the RX10iii, which should be compatible.

    Can this be done wireless using the Edge mobile app?

    • @MontanaMonk
      @MontanaMonk  3 года назад

      No, it can't be done with the mobile app. Seems like an oversight, since it would be very useful. Of course, it should have been a menu item on the camera, like most other high-end cameras and many mid-level cameras.

    In the final example I noticed Zooming during Timelaps, how can I make that?
    Very useful videos, learning to use my RX10M4. Thanks.

      The zooming on the time-lapse is done during the editing process of putting the video together. While very sophisticated video cameras may have the capability to zoom while shooting time-lapse, the RX10M4 does not. However, when shooting time-lapse as still images and editing as a video clip, the resolution of the images (at least in Vegas) is retained. This allows considerable zooming without any loss in resolution until you zoom to about 3x for 4k video or about 6x for 1080P HD. When zooming with the editor, you are really cropping the image. Some editors seem to resize the still images to the video resolution as soon as they are added to the time-line, locking the frame to the video resolution. However, it seems that Vegas (and perhaps other editors) doesn't do final sizing until rendering to output video, using the cropped still rather than cropping the video resolution frame, to produce the final frame. You can zoom in on the still to a crop level equal to the video resolution without losing quality. To clarify, the RX10M4 has a resolution of 20MP. Zooming in to 3x will produce a crop of about 7MP, roughly 4K video with no quality loss. However, if the image is reduced to 8MP (about 4k resolution) when it is added to the video time-line and then cropped, the final crop has a resolution of 2.7MP which then gets resized to 8MP, making it bigger but losing quality, just like making a very large print from a very low resolution camera. Hope this helps.

    Not watchable due to your mouse clicking away throughout the video!

    • @MontanaMonk
      @MontanaMonk  6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for the comments. I can turn off mouse sounds on future videos. When possible, I try to incorporate viewers suggestions in making videos. I may experiment with separating sounds on left and right channels so viewers can choose. Thank you for viewing.

      "Not watchable" is defenitely over statement. Bit annoying - yes. But hey its not like we paid the uploader. Try to be forgiving to people around you, especially your kids and family. Will help to be a better person. God bless!
