Boot out RTD and his cronies and his irritating and annoying Huggy Bear Doctor and bring in J Michael Straczynski who wanted to become showrunner before RTD returned - he certainly couldn't do any worse than this awful season - and Babylon 5 is one of the few sci fi series which gave Who a runfor its money !!

As an american fan, I'm not too worried about Disney's involvelment. Mainly because if disney pulls the funding, and the agreement ends, then Bad Wolf and the BBC will just partner with another streamer like Max or Prime Video who were in a bidding war for the international rights to Doctor Who with disney for this new version of the show. The fact the show is with Bad Wolf Studios is the best assurance we whovians have that it will continue.

Is anything getting huge ratings anymore? ‘The fall guy ‘ hit cinemas with great reviews , it failed & 2 weeks later it was on VOD, Same now with the new Max Max movie. Interest in TV & Movies seems to be flagging across the board with only a few exceptions.😢

I've heard that younger generations don't have the focus or attention span for films these days (because of media like that of tiktok). Personally for me, I'm never going to go to the cinema to watch a film that's too much over 2hrs. Since lord of the rings, most films have strived to match the runtime and "epic" feel to their own detriment. A long film's fine but sitting in a room with 200 random people for 3hrs isn't. It only takes 1 person to ruin the experience for everyone

Absolutely LOVE Doctor Who and EVERY Dr. since #10 reboot. Sure, I prefer some over others and some stories more than others. But LOVE the show itself! Got hubby hooked with the #15 Dr. and now we watch together. But we're 2 episodes behind and that's 100% due to combo of work schedules, life needs, and the show's drop schedule! Friday at 4:00 p.m. PDT just ISN'T going to result in our watching the "newest" show anytime soon! While we try to see it the same weekend, often we just can't. I truly hope D+ takes a long view look though, as this is our ONLY access to the franchise (& the ONLY reason I'm STILL behind on the #13 storyline!) 🙏🙏🙏🙏 this stays for the long haul!

I think the Chapek theory is a good one. Because it doesn't seem like current Disney cares about the show. Three things strike me...
    1. Space babies was a terrible opener. If Disney really wanted this to succeed for audiences in other countries, I believe they would have asked RTD to switch up the order of episodes.
    2. RTD and Moffat both said Disney has given minimal notes on the show. They presented this as a good thing, but to me it sounds like the Disney management is completely unengaged. If you look at the news around other Disney+ shows, Disney tends to give a ton of notes
    3. After the first episode, the marketing seems to have stopped. I'm not even getting the referral for new episodes on Disney+ anymore
It's also strange that they've already wrapped season 2. Seems like the smart idea would be to not start filming until season 1 had completed. Because it gives you a chance to course correct if the show is not finding its audience.

      @nathanthomas5133 4 месяца назад

They did switch up the order of episodes but internally there is only so much switching you can do without affecting season story arcs etc. Of course they would say that Disney gave minimal notes - because if they said that Disney gave tons of notes that would only increase the anti-Disney feeling mentioned , where everything wrong with the show is blamed on Disney interference. Scheduling the shoots is down to logistics too - Ncuti Gatwa was already booked to do a play at the National Theatre at the end of the year & has several other projects booked in, so they had to squeeze in the second season before his availability dried up.

If you push DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) onto an existing franchise or IP with an established fanbase, said franchise/IP is going to suffer.
Disney’s Star Wars and Marvel shows, Amazon’s Rings of Power, Apple’s Foundation, to name but a few, are examples of the harm that can be done to beloved books, movies and TV shows when infused with this liberal nonsense.
I acknowledge that there are those who enjoy this stuff, and that’s all well and good, but do not disparage those who express dislike for this content, as Ncuti Gatwa has done. If you alienate the core fans, which keep these franchises alive, you’re shooting yourself in the foot.
    Reap as sown!
Suffice it to say, I won’t be watching this incarnation of the Doctor and the woke nonsense being pushed.
I shall go out and ‘touch grass’, 🙄, assuming the weather's nice.

People who talk about DEI unironically really have no good arguments. Ncuti was hired because he's a good actor that RTD chose during an audition. Unless you can prove some other way he got the job, you're just talking nonsense.

You need to get a life as you’ve left the same comment on multiple Doctor Who videos - it’s almost like you have an agenda of your own ! If you think Dr Who only just got ‘woke’ then you haven’t seen any over it over the previous 60 years😅

@@nathanthomas5133I’ve left similar comments on other posts because I have a consistent point of view and opinion. My opinion is consistent with my values and beliefs and doesn’t change and isn’t dependent on the whims of society.
As for Doctor Who always being woke, that’s your subjective opinion.
The character of the Doctor has always been fair in his treatment of others, will challenge and oppose those who he disagrees with, when necessary. That’s the character of the Doctor.
That you speak of me as having an agenda is ironic as to be bewildering!
RTD and those that support him are the ones with a not so subtle agenda!
The fact remains that DEI is required of companies today if they’re to secure the investment that they need and require from those self-appointed arbiters of what is truthful, right and acceptable.
Who appointed those who impose DEI on companies?
I’ve watched Doctor Who since my childhood, when Tom Baker was the Doctor of the day.
If you enjoy this iteration of the Doctor, so be it, but don’t try and chastise me for expressing an opinion.
As I have stated before, provided a person isn’t being hateful of others, all opinions are welcome.
