I’ve officially seen kingdom of the planet of the apes yesterday. Really solid movie overall. I wonder if we’ll get another sequel soon at all maybe? Definitely very well paced despite being 2 and a half hours long.

I’m officially 30 years old and I’m definitely nostalgic for a lot of the old Disney animated movies and Disney Channel in general too. How time flies!
Well, I'm officially 29 years old and I've had more of a feeling this month that Disney will finally start adding more of their classic TV shows and Disney Channel movies to Disney+ this summer in the US. Also, the 25th anniversary for Tarzan will be on June 12th of this year, and the 30th anniversary for The Lion King will be on June 15th of this year. I looked again. And you're right; time really does fly.
And speaking of Disney, over the weekend, we lost one of the last surviving member of the Sherman Brothers, Richard Sherman has passed away at 95, and he was part of the Disney community for decades, and he composed all of the songs from Disney movies and theme park attractions. We will surely be missed. RIP 😢
Can’t speak for all of Gen Z, but I personally think Disney needs to advertise their licensed anime more as that’s what a good percentage of the generation enjoys watching. I always see the anime community fear their favorite show being a Disney+/Hulu exclusive since they know that means it will have little to no advertisement which could ruin its chances of another season. Netflix is more dedicated to that medium than Disney and the numbers show. But I’ll continue to be delusional about Disney actually making their own anime shows (Twisted Wonderland and Kingdom Hearts please) and giving them proper dedication, love, and advertisement.
What even is this conversation? A lot of people just prefer Netflix, Peacock, or only Hulu because it's more adult oriented. Many generations have been bred to understand that Disney deep down has always been a company for children's entertainment. They're like the Toys "R" Us in the media landscape. Nothing adult oriented about Disney unless if you consider some of their external divisions like Miramax, Lucasfilm, or Marvel for the older audience but really that's what it is. I know that a lot of stuff has originated from being aimed towards a younger audience that an older audience has latched on but the general public will forever just view Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks movies as "childish" just because it's PG or G rated and that animation has always been this societal norm that's it's integrally just for children. If you have something that has the R rated label on it, that's the only indicator that it's exclusively just for adults. It's stupid but that's how society and entertainment works today sadly. We are all being fed to be mindless brain zombies in this age of media consumption.
I saw that the trailer for Moana 2 is going to come out very soon in the next couple of hours it seems. Judging from the thumbnail alone I’m still very wary of cautious of this release overall.
Young woman and the sea doesn’t have a theatrical release date here in Australia at all. Is it the same in the UK. It comes out this Friday in the US on May 31st. I’ll probably have to wait until it’s on Disney+ before I watch it too.
Speaking of Australia, I've been wondering about the seasons there lately. It is currently spring, but almost summer here, in the US. I'm guessing that it's currently fall, but almost winter, in Australia? Is that correct?
Gen Z has less money to spend, so they probably have only 1 streaming service; Netflix. Hopefully with the integration of Hulu worldwide it makes it better. Hulu and Disney combined at a 9% market share dienst mean that when Hulu is integrated with Disney+ will probably mean that the market share will be quite a bit higher than 9% because the whole package is very attractive.
I often get depressed by new TV shows and movies. We come home from work. To want to get away from everyday life, for a bit. Then I can't bear watching deep and ultra-realistic everyday life on my TV screen. My kids watching more cartoons that is from 80s and 90s. Witch they feeling have a better Quality
I subscribe to YPulse newsletter, which focuses on Gen Z...and in many subjects, Disney is popular with Gen Z...yet it is interesting that with streaming not a priority at present. The key might be the technical improvements, like Iger had been commenting about where he knows they are lagging in comparison to Netflix.
Hi, Love your content. When you speak of releases you often do not mention Africa or South Africa in particular. It would be good if you could share this or at least advise which region we fall under. Thank you
Generally I focus on the US, Canada , Uk , Ireland, New Zealand and Australia . But most of the originals etc are global . South Africa is very in line with the U.K. lineup as it falls with the EMEA region . I do cover some South Africa specific info but there isn’t much in terms of originals etc but unfortunately I can’t cover every country in more detail.
I'm obviously a Gen Z kid because I'm turning 16 in 5 weeks (my birthday is on the 5th of July) and me and some of my friends at school still watch Disney+ and even my sister who was born in 2004 still watches it, I mainly watch shows like Bear in the Big Blue House and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse if I'm feeling nostalgic and I also watch Bluey and Family Guy and American Dad and The Cleveland Show and tbh and a few Pixar Films and that's about it.
The younger end are on their parents subscriptions, so Netflix is probably what they already had, so they’ll just stick with that. Especially when everyone’s trying to cut their own household costs.
Gen Z isnt a huge problem Its Gen Alpha(2010+) They dont even care about shows and movies Heck even videogames They dont wanna play themselves They wanna watch their favorite streamer play it
I’m part of the Genzie, but I know because the animation in some of the Disney films are like a little kitty friendly. What are the elevations like frozen with the animation looks CGI with the smooth lighting
Agreed everything is just too kid friendly, and even the adult stuff is just meh at best or we have most likely seen it already or it’s subpar at best sadly. There’s also not a lot they’re offering, I mostly have just stuck to watching documentaries, and old Disney movies and tv shows. I’m actually bored with all the marvel stuff, to the point I don’t really care for it, like I’ll watch it if it’s good, but yea I would say the writing has fallen flat, they need to hire people to do pilots for their tv shows across the board, and really understand their audience because they’re missing the mark big time.
I’m surprised the veil has ended after only 6 episodes. I haven’t watched the new episode just yet but I was completely caught off guard there. Pretty average show overall. Elizabeth Moss is a good actress but the storytelling is kind of forgettable.
Its simple its all woke crap there pumping out, disney is all about there queer message, the majority dont want this rubbish, you always seem to skip this point.
I'm from gen z and I have Disney plus only for individual things, I simply prefer television and there is too much choice on the platform and not enough because it doesn't have all Disney productions and when it comes to cinema, in my opinion they simply focused too much on political correctness and other blah blah blah, in my opinion the last good Disney movie was Encanto
@thewatchman13 not in comparison. For example, the Gost and Molly mcgee features a teacher that mentioned she has a girlfriend once. Jurassic Park camp cretaceous has actual lesbian characters kissing. Which is more "woke"?
Older Teenagers and people in their early 20s were never keen on Disney. I used to be on a website where you could answer questions (many years ago, before there was Disney+), and one question came up a lot: "I'm 15/16/17 and I still love Disney movies. Is there something wrong with me?" Or something along that lines. And they all said that it is completely uncool among their peers to watch Disney movies. My theory about that is, that when young people grow up, they want to distance themselves from anything that is childish, and Disney movies were something they watched as children, so they are considered childish, and they insteag want to watch movies that are as "adult" as possible and hate on Disney to appear "adult". So I think it is rather normal, that Disney does not appeal to this age group who thinks that being adult is to not watch Disney. And many of them ridicule their peers who watch Disney. A few weeks ago, I had a discussion in a comment section, where I had said, that it is a shame that so dew young people don't like to watch older movie. And a few younger people then said, they don't like to watch newer movies either and consider them "trash". They prefer anime and gaming.

gen z? i hate those stupid labels just say they agee group
To be frank, I think Disney+ should just be for early millennials like me
Frank, Disney+ should be for everyone
What came out in the last 10 years? Then expand on it….
‘Cause Gen Z are not preschoolers anymore and they want to watch more mature shows like the ones Disney cancelled for no reason.
