Sometimes it's easy to forget that what we see here is a carefully curated slice of content. I was quite surprised to hear that Raas already has 200 hours clocked in the game.
I did not think i would play A:SA more than A:SE at this point. I just did not realise how diluted the gameplay had become with mods and additional quality of life improvements that the other maps had brought to Ark as A:SE evolved. I had forgotten how to do a lot of very basic stuff required by The Island, but reacquiring that lost knowledge has been very enjoyable in such a lush environment. The single experience that has blown me away is relying on sound over visuals for locating Dino's, especially species, direction, distance and threat level when in the thickly laid out undergrowth. i hear things first with surround headphones, a piece of kit which i have used playing A:SE and never noticed this phenomenon. This also makes the atmosphere in the caves especially good, which was probably what hooked me on day one. The pace is noticeably slower for me, but maybe not for some of the other tribes on the server i play. I am taking my time and savouring the moment. There have been precious few bugs compared to back in the day, and i stuck it out through all of that nightmare with my R9 390. I think this has been a triumph for Wildcard so far, with much room for improvement so long as they are given the chance. Snail is a whole other boardroom game. I think we will all keep an eye on the mollusc running the circus and hope they will focus on the success of their primary asset. I need a rum.
@@theunderdog9353 I thought i would just need to upgrade the trusty 5700xt that has served me so well for many years and sadly a few weeks before A:SA dropped a lightning strike killed the poor thing. R.I.P. bought a Sapphire Pule 7800xt for £480 as it is the best card i could buy that would fit into my case and it is snug. The bench saw less than a 10% improvement which was extremely disappointing. This made it clear that the lil old 1800x was bottleknecking so i had to upgrade everything else. I wanted to go for the new generation, but budget didnt allow so i went for a 5800x3d and saw a huge improvement on the bench. Im running 3440x1440 with A:SA settings maxed and everything is great, except this is a wildcard game, so not always. The ray tracing is lacking and sometimes the light coming through the trees i the redwoods looks more like a bitmap sprite. It cost just shy of a grand which was more than i wanted to spend. This wont last 6 years either as i plan to upgrade again next year.
same bugs whit all their prev games old Ark + Atlas go look ate them its all the same ! same models ! same building system all is the same !!! but whit some makeup to get your money
I play on my own server and so far it runs fairly well. I can't see what my babies need when they need care and sometimes they float in the air. Two of our tribe members recently lost all their gear. I hope these issues are fixed soon.

Playing on the series X I think the devs done a really good job remaking The Island, it feels like a different map and so atmospheric now it’s awesome. Obviously there’s issues, some pixelated lighting and clouds and some of the water is unresponsive to movement but all in all I am really enjoying it. I loved playing scorched earth some hopefully that map gets just as much tlc from them.

Yeah, I'm having fun playing ASA on PS5. It's a game where I get lied to over and over again, after I change my schedule over and over again. At least this time I saw it coming that they are simply telling lies, so I didn't assume it would actually drop on PS5 end of Nov.
my favorite addition is probably , the dino homicide mechanic for easy baby tames . while yes , you still have to grow them up into worthy tames and take care of them , its way easier than getting 2 high level tames of the opposite sexes and breeding them . while sure , its not as efficient , its way easier in the early game than normal taming mechanics . also , because of the revamped ai pathfinding , the wayne method of acquiring dinosaurs just becomes more viable in my opinion . also , curious question , can you color the belt torch ? because that would mean you could put a blue flame above your crotch and call it "blue balls" which is quite hilarious indeed .
I think/hope/wish the future of ASA is extremely bright. I play it on steam (MSI Suprim X 4090 + 13900k) and immediately noticed the game still needs an absolute ton of optimizations and fixes however once said dust really settles I think the game will run and be amazing. The servers have become remarkably more stable now which is very nice as well.

As much as i hope youre right i think we just on copium. Optimization on regular ark never got trully better in 8 years i dont think theyll do miracle in less time with a new engine
Honestly I really hope they changed (or will) some of the animations. For example Equuses in ASE jump weirdly or when they stand on their hind legs they look bugged. I also hope they will add some animations to make things look more smoothly.
@gmaccc2420 It is very hard to explain. In ASE, the mutations were normal. If you are doing 10 mutations and your dino A health is 9,000, and after that, you get a new dino B who has 9900 health without mutation, then the mutations you have done will remain in your dino A. You cannot transfer the mutation. In ASA, you can transfer your dino A mutation to your dino B mutation. Which means that after you mate dino A and dino B, there are chances that dino B will get those 10 mutations, and the health will go up like 11000 or whatever the health increases per level. I will try to elaborate more on this if you don't get it.
@@sweetcorn1936 In ASE, if you have a mutation stack on a dino and find a better one, you may regret it or start over again. You can find higher level dinos in some DLC, and there's no point in starting a mutation stack until all the DLCs are released. In ASA you can continue mutating new dino and the problem with unreleased DLCs has been solved.
I personally love the game it is beautiful has very many QOL improvements and it has a feeling I didn't get from ASE which is the ability to play for a longer time and not get tired of it!
It's crazy how they can make the exact same game again and make the same mistakes. There's passion behind this game but I think their passion is blinding them from making a good game.
funny how reignited trilogy came out and everyone said "this is what we want in hd remake games" and then ark does it and gets a bunch of hate. sure there have been some missteps like with server hosting and yeah its taxing on the old PC but its not unplayable. its a "new but old" ark and i couldnt be happier playing it, because i love ark. but im one of the few who played since pre-alpha launch day one and know full well how bad it could be, and its nowhere near as bad as that.

New Ai pathing works...sometimes lol. Things i needed to see updated were like things like the Argy when ordered to follow...still hangs there for 5-6seconds then circles you at 400mph...Ark will be Ark
I hard a argy on follow on my giga it flew close to the ground and couldnt work out how to get over a rock.......a bird stuck on a rock had to go back and fly the birb over it. GREAT path finding

When I go to the ark subreddit, all I hear is non stop negativity, but when when I watch reviewers online I see so many positive features that make me want to play the game again. Idk if its worth $45, but I think I'm gonna pick it up regardless and I'll get my moneys worth
I've only played a little bit but creatures were still getting stuck on rocks, trees, etc. AI doesn't seem like it was changed all that much, tiny bit but nothing like they were advertising. I think it's awesome they updated dung beetles, oviraptors, building, and babies roaming the lands ❤️ but idk. The game feels very much the same. All in all, I'm disappointed. :/ I wasn't expecting a massive change but I was expecting more. Guess I was expecting too much from Wild Card.
Good vid, Raas. Although the New old Island map is a refreshing... I can't be the only one who's super excited about Scorched Earth on UE5? They should really fix the crashes issue. At best I get 20mins of play time before game crashes.
Not just Scorched Earth. Imagine what Abberation will look like. No offense but on the crash issues i can beat that. I can crash 10 times in 5 minutes when i start sorting out stuff from drops and fishing. About 2 days ago i did some fishing with fishing mod (one you craft baits and it skips mini game) and got around 277 blueprints. It took me almost an hour and i dont even know how many crashes before i sorted that out. Imagine crash every 2 minutes xD. Funny that for me i lasted almost 170 hours without single crash and then it let itself go on that one.
I never played A:SE, my partner wanted me to but didn't understand what was meant with taking down the servers so I was under the impression I couldn't play it at all anymore... We talked about trying Ark 2, but while trying to research that I stumbled onto A:SA and through that this channel, Veno's, Syntac's, AxeMan's, etc. The information provided is always helpful since I feel like I'm going backwards on idiot mode most of the time I'm playing. I watch you all be meh about a level 100 and I'm like "I'm so happy I actually managed to tame a level 2!" In some ways it's daunting - having to learn how to function in easy to then make it harder and harder to be at the point where I'm looking for level 150 dinos, but I'm about 3 steps away from trying out the first cave and that's actually really exciting. You say you'd get bored without the mods, I'm in awe at taming a Moschops... Someday I'll get there, but for now it's more learning from folks like you so thanks for your honest opinions, it'll help everyone in the end.
as much as i love ASA, wildcard need to get their shit together. our server sometimes crashes upwards of 10x in an hour, other times its fine for half a day. inconsistent behaviour impossible to troubleshoot and logs that are practically useless. we cant do anything without risking to lose everything we have. its sad that these issues havent been fixed, if anything theyve gotten severely wors the last few patches. awesome video tho raas!
I'm bummed that the console version doesn't look as gorgeous as the PC version. Like the game runs smoother than I was expecting and it doesn't look bad but, this games beauty deserves to truly be appreciated, not just baseline serviceable
Yea the servers are still not running great by any means with no mods everyones rubberbanding and crashing plus gotta love the random rollbacks when restarting a server
I'm definitely feeling the "might get bored" already. Since the product was clearly rushed(because of Snailgames) we're back to a game where the majority of the really good stuff is missing. ARK became amazing over time. With DLC, mods, creatures, maps, and simply having The Island and its inhabitants leave me, a person with 6100 hours in ASE, with very little to do, very quickly, in ASA. I've played 120 hours of ASA and I'm already taking a break. Currently waiting on announcements from Wildcard, the ARKathon from Curseforge, and many other things to come and bring the excitement back into the game. But for now, I'll wait with patience and honestly, I'll stay away from their Discord and Twitter accounts for now. I don't need to watch the console release meltdown, which is sure to unfold.
@Naitox I'm done as in "I'm bored" 😕 I love all QoL improvements and the game is gorgeous but there's nothing new for people with +6k hours in ASE. We play on x2 rates. Without movement speed stat to put level into, I've already gotten great stats on all boss dinos. But breeding isn't fun.
Since it’s so much more expensive than evolved. Assuming to have similar levels of bugs, should I get evolved instead? Like I don’t reli care toooo much about graphics. Like um, or should I wait until they polish ascended? Will they ever though?
Oh I’m just playing with my sister, so basically two copies needed, doubling the price. And I don’t understand the whole server thing. As long as I can play with my sister, it’s fine, I don’t need um other unknown people in my server, I think it’s called local server.
Stick with A:SE, it will be more worth your money, and you don't have to deal with all the requirements if you are playing on PC. I've only played the Island and Ragnarok so far, can't wait to get into the other maps, the community map, Ragnarok, is so awesome! The Island, too dense, constantly losing my dinos when I have them on follow, only to find them stuck between two trees. 🙄 Have fun!! I could just build bases for days in A:SE.
Nicey put Raas, I myself have managed to play a little and enjoy your live streams. Tweaking the graphics has been a pain, but now fairly stable so i can play for a few hours. For those wishing to see the game play Raas live streams are FAB, and show the graphics with full effect compared to some live streams.
Well at least it’s running better than ark survival evolved was when it first came out! Think they will fix all the bugs and low frame rates as time goes on if we just stop yelling at them 24/7. In the discord server game devs are getting thousands of pings and hour from people yelling at them to fix stuff expecting it to be a thing they can do with a snap of their fingers! We should stop yelling at the game devs and let them just try to fix it without massive pressure
As someone who would like to play this game but have a laptop that could barely run ASE, and now know I'd need to save up a lot two buy two high end gaming pcs, one for myself and one for my partner, I have a few questions. I've never built a PC before and am already reserved to wait on buy the game till I can get Both pcs. Any advice, though not expected, would be appreciated. - Would you recommend using that PC building company if located in the US? - Are these "bare minimum" upgrades for the game to run on max or at least high settings, with mods, or should I go above and beyond? - I heard it was difficult to set up small non dedicated lan games still. I mostly play in small groups. Is it still best to get a server and is non-dedicated even possible? Thank you for your time. And thank you Ras for the details in your videos as always. I will be checking out those PC parts when I have time latter today.
My PC can just barely run this game at pretty decent looking settings and a for the most part stable 60 frames. But I love what they have done with this game and I'm enjoying a lot of the new features.
the main thing they need to change is the goofy ass character design it legit looks from a cartoon and just takes you out of the game cause it just looks like it doesn't belong in the game
I bought it only because I wanted to play official and ASE official type servers again. With that said, the first time I loaded the game the graphics shocked me. It was far better seeing it in game myself rather than on a youtube video even when I was only getting around 30 fps. At this point I honestly think it was worth the $45 that I had bought it for even though it has not been optimized at all.
I really am turned off by the way the water moves when you walk through it. It's so drastically cartoony over everything else that i don't see how they thought this looked good. It looks like a completely different animation from a different game.
What about servers? Are we still only allowed to get it from nitrado, at the minimum of 26 slots? Do we still have to pay for a license from wilcard for a non dedicated server? If you're a streamer wit a big following you don't have to pay.
Only good thing about this game is how it looks, and that's only if you have the money to build a PC able to make it look that way, the average player wont be able to take advantage of the "upgrades" that should have been free for ASE as promised... This is nothing more than a money grab and I am done with this studio, they're going bankrupt anyway after this last ditch effort to pool in more money fails (heavily in debt currently). I can not believe people are still willing to support this company and "polish" of a game that we should have had on ASE. I personally have not played it and never will, but from what I'm hearing from many other consumers is that it still has a lot of the same issues that the first game did, it's just a prettier pile of crap now.
Maybe I shouldn't comment as I don't have Ark Ascended and most likely won't ever get it due to just not being able to upgrade my PC to the level you need to play ASA. There is no doubt ASA looks like a movie, it's great and its potential is endless but can Studio Wildcard unlock that potential with Snail Games looking over their shoulder. Sadly, I'm not confident they will and ASA is just going to continue to be one problem after another. I hope I'm wrong and I also hope Studio Wildcard don't forget about Ark Evolved, there is still a community of players there who shouldn't be forgotten about.
ASA sucks, the only improvement was graphics and slight building mechanic change and a few new dinos which at least 2 are terrible and all of these couldve been put into an update but wildcard just wants the money
Could you recommend single player breeding settings? I’m trying to get it so a giga doesn’t take a week to raise, several hours to a day would be more reasonable. But not too fast that I can’t 100% imprint small creatures.
I got it! 40 maturation and 0.05 imprint. I raised a giga, Rex, raptor and Dimorphodon successfully I also have single player (off) not sure if that effects those rates
Took me 3 days of testing numbers lol if you tweak it to perfection let me know, I’m currently in the middle of moving so all my stuff is packed away no time to play.
If they could finally fix all the clipping issues… (dinosaurs falling into the ground, getting stuck, random floating things, building platforms only for them to fall out and through walls, etc)…I would be a happy camper.
For me, your final thoughts are more in line with what I feel. While I can appreciate the vast potential of this game, and love the Island looking this way, I think for a 'remaster' it is poor for it to launch with so many glitches and bugs carried over from ASE, let alone talking about the new ones. I also think launching with just the Island was a mistake and shows how rushed out the door this was by Snail Games. The very minimum this game should have launched with was The Island, SOTF and Scorched Earth as was the original plan. The fact that so many players are stil playing Survival Evolved over ASA is simply because these people are looking at the game and saying 'why should I buy it now when I can get it cheaper in the future with much more content available'. I think the game will get there, and be fantastic in 8-10 months or so, but I'd be lying if I said was entirely satisfied by the launch.
Best thing to do is make your own game. Trying to play in a PVP or PVE server already sucks. People have built things all over the starting points so you are forced to venture into the middle of the map to even start.
For me I don’t need the fancy stuff. I would be happy with the original ark completely remade with the same or even lesser graphics, as long as the lag and crashing issues were completely fixed. When you’re part of a massive raid on a base with hundreds or thousands of tames, it was a heart breaking tease to be part of something so fun, yet not be able to play because of a 1 FPS frame rate followed by an inevitable crash. I personally would even advocate for a game that costed $250.00 dollars, if the promise was perfection. I’d also accept delay after delay of the release date. Just get it right.
back when I was a child experiencing ark for the first time on xbox one it was brutally laggy but I didn't care, it was slow, primitive, clunky, and broken beyond words but I loved it so much. I look at games everywhere from our youths and next gen games, and their all falling the exact same way. Xbox one can't play ASA yet they took the xbox servers away for greed forcing you to get ASA, overwatch was practically massacred the exact same way, halo in recent years is by all definitions dead as a franchise, games and vital content to them are locked behind criminally brutal pay walls. Did you know that it takes over a grand to play this on xbox in Canada and that's with awful optimization by the way? You have to own a series S and/or X before you can even attempt to pay the minimum 60 bucks to get the game, (there's actually a glitch in the Microsoft store that makes it legitimately criminal btw, if you hover over the buy option on xbox one original the store often doesn't tell you you cannot play the game on the older console since the warning sometimes never shows, at least 4 of my friends as of writing this payed $60 or more and cannot even access the game, this isn't uncommon) This is a long rant and info dump but the point is, I genuinely believe ark is slowly done, we all keep accepting that the glory days are done for gaming and we shouldn't have to accept that but greed everywhere has beaten us so badly we look at a snapshot saturation filter on ark and call it gorgeous as though I can't do it on my television settings 🙁 gaming is dying and I don't believe that can change anymore, ascended was the last straw for me, the better part of 10 years led up to this? Screw this.
ASA is an unoptimized mess unless you have a NASA level PC to brute force performance. Imagine intentionally forcing a huge chunk of your community out of the game with unrealistic recommended specs for most people during a cost of living crisis. MY 3070 was brought to its knees in this game which is by no means considered a budget card. RiP to anybody running with lesser GPU's or consoles. Way To go wildcard/snail games!
I've played for 20 minutes... Game looks nice, no bigger issues with fps but it was crashing every 2-3 minutes. PC with Ryzen 7700X / Radeon 7800XT is not able to run this game without problems. If someone thinking about purchase, just cosider it carefully, because you will need a REAL BEAST of a pc...
Even with this beast of a Pc u will crash a lot!!! I have an 4090 with i9 13900k, 64gb Ram, 7TB SSDs, 1200 Watts and so on and this game crashes one day every 5 minutes and other days once in 3 hours...i think we have to wait till these needed patches come
Really well articulated mate on why this game if you ark fan. Is definitely worth the wait and can only get better going forward. Clearly had its early issues and lacked organised realise but think most will agree will be new and better Ark given time.
To me the worst part is that you can no longer upgrade movement speed. You should at least be able to do this on single player because now it takes absolutely forever to fly anywhere on the map

My only issue with ASA is the tether is still here, even worse than ASE. I’m a console player and the ASE tether was 400 meters and ASA has a 200 meter tether, that’s my only issue with it
my thoughts: + great graphics with a fresh feeling + building system is improved - visuals are sometimes glitchy - new AI is currently even more troublesome than the old Survival Evolved - pillar/foundation spam still a thing - and of course the crashes........

I have zero interest in buying this game until it leaves early access status. I would rather try and enjoy it when it's had the time in the oven it needs. I wouldn't mind waiting a year or so. Why make myself suffer. There are plenty of totally impatient people to do that for me. Regardless, I hope the game is a success and that a lot of people enjoy it.
Very good G the only thing I'm disappointed in truly is that dinos still do not have personality and its long over due give us final kill animations, herbivores should do more in the wild than just walk around, yeah the dinos need more character and after 8 years it's just like blaaa 🤮 looking at them
I play solo on Xbox Series X, and I have yet to see instability or crashes. I honestly think playing the game basically vanilla on hard mode, along with all the quality of life changes, better graphics and smooth gameplay, this game is going to keep me entertained for a long time. I have been putting all my points into carry weight as to not become OP, and turned off all loot crates. Being by yourself with nearly all dinos being dangerous to you at any level, the immersion is so real.
Im exited to download and play ASA on console so i can complain about roll back and lag

Floating rocks are awesome and mesh dino storage is very nice feature.

Yeah, I'm having fun playing ASA on PS5. It's a game where I get lied to over and over again, after I change my schedule over and over again. At least this time I saw it coming that they are simply telling lies, so I didn't assume it would actually drop on PS5 end of Nov.
my favorite addition is probably , the dino homicide mechanic for easy baby tames . while yes , you still have to grow them up into worthy tames and take care of them , its way easier than getting 2 high level tames of the opposite sexes and breeding them . while sure , its not as efficient , its way easier in the early game than normal taming mechanics . also , because of the revamped ai pathfinding , the wayne method of acquiring dinosaurs just becomes more viable in my opinion . also , curious question , can you color the belt torch ? because that would mean you could put a blue flame above your crotch and call it "blue balls" which is quite hilarious indeed .
I think/hope/wish the future of ASA is extremely bright. I play it on steam (MSI Suprim X 4090 + 13900k) and immediately noticed the game still needs an absolute ton of optimizations and fixes however once said dust really settles I think the game will run and be amazing. The servers have become remarkably more stable now which is very nice as well.
Hopefully by Abb the game is a lot more optimized

As much as i hope youre right i think we just on copium. Optimization on regular ark never got trully better in 8 years i dont think theyll do miracle in less time with a new engine
I Bought evolved on day 1, it played very well, then the updates started coming ! optimization was never as good as it was on those first days

Honestly I really hope they changed (or will) some of the animations. For example Equuses in ASE jump weirdly or when they stand on their hind legs they look bugged. I also hope they will add some animations to make things look more smoothly.
That and some dlc. TBH I would have rather seen tlc votes instead of new dinos. So many already exist with little to no reason to exist.

In ASE, the mutations were normal. If you are doing 10 mutations and your dino A health is 9,000, and after that, you get a new dino B who has 9900 health without mutation, then the mutations you have done will remain in your dino A. You cannot transfer the mutation.
In ASA, you can transfer your dino A mutation to your dino B mutation. Which means that after you mate dino A and dino B, there are chances that dino B will get those 10 mutations, and the health will go up like 11000 or whatever the health increases per level.
I will try to elaborate more on this if you don't get it.
@@sweetcorn1936 In ASE, if you have a mutation stack on a dino and find a better one, you may regret it or start over again. You can find higher level dinos in some DLC, and there's no point in starting a mutation stack until all the DLCs are released. In ASA you can continue mutating new dino and the problem with unreleased DLCs has been solved.
I personally love the game it is beautiful has very many QOL improvements and it has a feeling I didn't get from ASE which is the ability to play for a longer time and not get tired of it!

It's crazy how they can make the exact same game again and make the same mistakes. There's passion behind this game but I think their passion is blinding them from making a good game.
It's running incredibly smooth on series x..no crashes or lag in the 2 hours I've played.
funny how reignited trilogy came out and everyone said "this is what we want in hd remake games" and then ark does it and gets a bunch of hate. sure there have been some missteps like with server hosting and yeah its taxing on the old PC but its not unplayable. its a "new but old" ark and i couldnt be happier playing it, because i love ark. but im one of the few who played since pre-alpha launch day one and know full well how bad it could be, and its nowhere near as bad as that.

I have had to dial down some settings, but still am enjoying the new adventure and can still see a lot of the new features.
New Ai pathing works...sometimes lol. Things i needed to see updated were like things like the Argy when ordered to follow...still hangs there for 5-6seconds then circles you at 400mph...Ark will be Ark
I hard a argy on follow on my giga it flew close to the ground and couldnt work out how to get over a rock.......a bird stuck on a rock had to go back and fly the birb over it. GREAT path finding
Oddly enough the enemy pathing seems to be superior to tames'.
Thanks for the unbiased opinions, Raas. When I go to the ark subreddit, all I hear is non stop negativity, but when when I watch reviewers online I see so many positive features that make me want to play the game again.

I've only played a little bit but creatures were still getting stuck on rocks, trees, etc. AI doesn't seem like it was changed all that much, tiny bit but nothing like they were advertising. I think it's awesome they updated dung beetles, oviraptors, building, and babies roaming the lands ❤️ but idk. The game feels very much the same. All in all, I'm disappointed. :/ I wasn't expecting a massive change but I was expecting more. Guess I was expecting too much from Wild Card.

They should really fix the crashes issue. At best I get 20mins of play time before game crashes.
Not just Scorched Earth. Imagine what Abberation will look like. No offense but on the crash issues i can beat that. I can crash 10 times in 5 minutes when i start sorting out stuff from drops and fishing. About 2 days ago i did some fishing with fishing mod (one you craft baits and it skips mini game) and got around 277 blueprints. It took me almost an hour and i dont even know how many crashes before i sorted that out. Imagine crash every 2 minutes xD. Funny that for me i lasted almost 170 hours without single crash and then it let itself go on that one.

I never played A:SE, my partner wanted me to but didn't understand what was meant with taking down the servers so I was under the impression I couldn't play it at all anymore... We talked about trying Ark 2, but while trying to research that I stumbled onto A:SA and through that this channel, Veno's, Syntac's, AxeMan's, etc. The information provided is always helpful since I feel like I'm going backwards on idiot mode most of the time I'm playing. I watch you all be meh about a level 100 and I'm like "I'm so happy I actually managed to tame a level 2!" In some ways it's daunting - having to learn how to function in easy to then make it harder and harder to be at the point where I'm looking for level 150 dinos, but I'm about 3 steps away from trying out the first cave and that's actually really exciting. You say you'd get bored without the mods, I'm in awe at taming a Moschops... Someday I'll get there, but for now it's more learning from folks like you so thanks for your honest opinions, it'll help everyone in the end.
If they add all the DLC maps from ASE to ASA, ill lose my mind.

as much as i love ASA, wildcard need to get their shit together. our server sometimes crashes upwards of 10x in an hour, other times its fine for half a day. inconsistent behaviour impossible to troubleshoot and logs that are practically useless. we cant do anything without risking to lose everything we have. its sad that these issues havent been fixed, if anything theyve gotten severely wors the last few patches. awesome video tho raas!
I'm bummed that the console version doesn't look as gorgeous as the PC version. Like the game runs smoother than I was expecting and it doesn't look bad but, this games beauty deserves to truly be appreciated, not just baseline serviceable
Yea the servers are still not running great by any means with no mods everyones rubberbanding and crashing plus gotta love the random rollbacks when restarting a server
I'm definitely feeling the "might get bored" already. Since the product was clearly rushed(because of Snailgames) we're back to a game where the majority of the really good stuff is missing. ARK became amazing over time. With DLC, mods, creatures, maps, and simply having The Island and its inhabitants leave me, a person with 6100 hours in ASE, with very little to do, very quickly, in ASA. I've played 120 hours of ASA and I'm already taking a break.
Currently waiting on announcements from Wildcard, the ARKathon from Curseforge, and many other things to come and bring the excitement back into the game. But for now, I'll wait with patience and honestly, I'll stay away from their Discord and Twitter accounts for now. I don't need to watch the console release meltdown, which is sure to unfold.
You either play on x50 rates or you kill only gamma bosses, no Way you are done with The island in normal rates
@Naitox I'm done as in "I'm bored" 😕 I love all QoL improvements and the game is gorgeous but there's nothing new for people with +6k hours in ASE. We play on x2 rates. Without movement speed stat to put level into, I've already gotten great stats on all boss dinos. But breeding isn't fun.
Since it’s so much more expensive than evolved. Assuming to have similar levels of bugs, should I get evolved instead? Like I don’t reli care toooo much about graphics. Like um, or should I wait until they polish ascended? Will they ever though?
Oh I’m just playing with my sister, so basically two copies needed, doubling the price. And I don’t understand the whole server thing. As long as I can play with my sister, it’s fine, I don’t need um other unknown people in my server, I think it’s called local server.

Stick with A:SE, it will be more worth your money, and you don't have to deal with all the requirements if you are playing on PC. I've only played the Island and Ragnarok so far, can't wait to get into the other maps, the community map, Ragnarok, is so awesome! The Island, too dense, constantly losing my dinos when I have them on follow, only to find them stuck between two trees. 🙄

Nicey put Raas, I myself have managed to play a little and enjoy your live streams. Tweaking the graphics has been a pain, but now fairly stable so i can play for a few hours. For those wishing to see the game play Raas live streams are FAB, and show the graphics with full effect compared to some live streams.

Well at least it’s running better than ark survival evolved was when it first came out! Think they will fix all the bugs and low frame rates as time goes on if we just stop yelling at them 24/7. In the discord server game devs are getting thousands of pings and hour from people yelling at them to fix stuff expecting it to be a thing they can do with a snap of their fingers! We should stop yelling at the game devs and let them just try to fix it without massive pressure
As someone who would like to play this game but have a laptop that could barely run ASE, and now know I'd need to save up a lot two buy two high end gaming pcs, one for myself and one for my partner, I have a few questions. I've never built a PC before and am already reserved to wait on buy the game till I can get Both pcs. Any advice, though not expected, would be appreciated.
- Would you recommend using that PC building company if located in the US?
- Are these "bare minimum" upgrades for the game to run on max or at least high settings, with mods, or should I go above and beyond?
- I heard it was difficult to set up small non dedicated lan games still. I mostly play in small groups. Is it still best to get a server and is non-dedicated even possible?

My PC can just barely run this game at pretty decent looking settings and a for the most part stable 60 frames. But I love what they have done with this game and I'm enjoying a lot of the new features.
the main thing they need to change is the goofy ass character design

I bought it only because I wanted to play official and ASE official type servers again. With that said, the first time I loaded the game the graphics shocked me. It was far better seeing it in game myself rather than on a youtube video even when I was only getting around 30 fps. At this point I honestly think it was worth the $45 that I had bought it for even though it has not been optimized at all.
I really am turned off by the way the water moves when you walk through it. It's so drastically cartoony over everything else that i don't see how they thought this looked good. It looks like a completely different animation from a different game.

@lilow3581 that's still way above the average build. Most people are still on 10XX series gpus.
3050 4gb and ryzen 7 4800h and i love this game. 30-40 fps so its pretty good
Would love to see the old ark original release trailer side by side with the same but using ASA instead just to see the difference more clearly.
What about servers? Are we still only allowed to get it from nitrado, at the minimum of 26 slots? Do we still have to pay for a license from wilcard for a non dedicated server? If you're a streamer wit a big following you don't have to pay.
Only good thing about this game is how it looks, and that's only if you have the money to build a PC able to make it look that way, the average player wont be able to take advantage of the "upgrades" that should have been free for ASE as promised... This is nothing more than a money grab and I am done with this studio, they're going bankrupt anyway after this last ditch effort to pool in more money fails (heavily in debt currently). I can not believe people are still willing to support this company and "polish" of a game that we should have had on ASE. I personally have not played it and never will, but from what I'm hearing from many other consumers is that it still has a lot of the same issues that the first game did, it's just a prettier pile of crap now.
Maybe I shouldn't comment as I don't have Ark Ascended and most likely won't ever get it due to just not being able to upgrade my PC to the level you need to play ASA. There is no doubt ASA looks like a movie, it's great and its potential is endless but can Studio Wildcard unlock that potential with Snail Games looking over their shoulder. Sadly, I'm not confident they will and ASA is just going to continue to be one problem after another.
I hope I'm wrong and I also hope Studio Wildcard don't forget about Ark Evolved, there is still a community of players there who shouldn't be forgotten about.

ASA sucks, the only improvement was graphics and slight building mechanic change and a few new dinos which at least 2 are terrible and all of these couldve been put into an update but wildcard just wants the money
Could you recommend single player breeding settings? I’m trying to get it so a giga doesn’t take a week to raise, several hours to a day would be more reasonable. But not too fast that I can’t 100% imprint small creatures.

Took me 3 days of testing numbers lol if you tweak it to perfection let me know, I’m currently in the middle of moving so all my stuff is packed away no time to play.
If they could finally fix all the clipping issues… (dinosaurs falling into the ground, getting stuck, random floating things, building platforms only for them to fall out and through walls, etc)…I would be a happy camper.

For me, your final thoughts are more in line with what I feel. While I can appreciate the vast potential of this game, and love the Island looking this way, I think for a 'remaster' it is poor for it to launch with so many glitches and bugs carried over from ASE, let alone talking about the new ones. I also think launching with just the Island was a mistake and shows how rushed out the door this was by Snail Games. The very minimum this game should have launched with was The Island, SOTF and Scorched Earth as was the original plan. The fact that so many players are stil playing Survival Evolved over ASA is simply because these people are looking at the game and saying 'why should I buy it now when I can get it cheaper in the future with much more content available'.
I think the game will get there, and be fantastic in 8-10 months or so, but I'd be lying if I said was entirely satisfied by the launch.

Best thing to do is make your own game. Trying to play in a PVP or PVE server already sucks. People have built things all over the starting points so you are forced to venture into the middle of the map to even start.
5000 hours in ark pvp can’t wait to deal with the same problems from before
For me I don’t need the fancy stuff. I would be happy with the original ark completely remade with the same or even lesser graphics, as long as the lag and crashing issues were completely fixed. When you’re part of a massive raid on a base with hundreds or thousands of tames, it was a heart breaking tease to be part of something so fun, yet not be able to play because of a 1 FPS frame rate followed by an inevitable crash. I personally would even advocate for a game that costed $250.00 dollars, if the promise was perfection. I’d also accept delay after delay of the release date. Just get it right.
back when I was a child experiencing ark for the first time on xbox one it was brutally laggy but I didn't care, it was slow, primitive, clunky, and broken beyond words but I loved it so much.
I look at games everywhere from our youths and next gen games, and their all falling the exact same way.
Xbox one can't play ASA yet they took the xbox servers away for greed forcing you to get ASA, overwatch was practically massacred the exact same way, halo in recent years is by all definitions dead as a franchise, games and vital content to them are locked behind criminally brutal pay walls.
Did you know that it takes over a grand to play this on xbox in Canada and that's with awful optimization by the way?
You have to own a series S and/or X before you can even attempt to pay the minimum 60 bucks to get the game,
(there's actually a glitch in the Microsoft store that makes it legitimately criminal btw, if you hover over the buy option on xbox one original the store often doesn't tell you you cannot play the game on the older console since the warning sometimes never shows, at least 4 of my friends as of writing this payed $60 or more and cannot even access the game, this isn't uncommon)
This is a long rant and info dump but the point is, I genuinely believe ark is slowly done, we all keep accepting that the glory days are done for gaming and we shouldn't have to accept that but greed everywhere has beaten us so badly we look at a snapshot saturation filter on ark and call it gorgeous as though I can't do it on my television settings 🙁 gaming is dying and I don't believe that can change anymore, ascended was the last straw for me, the better part of 10 years led up to this? Screw this.

ASA is an unoptimized mess unless you have a NASA level PC to brute force performance. Imagine intentionally forcing a huge chunk of your community out of the game with unrealistic recommended specs for most people during a cost of living crisis. MY 3070 was brought to its knees in this game which is by no means considered a budget card. RiP to anybody running with lesser GPU's or consoles. Way To go wildcard/snail games!

I've played for 20 minutes... Game looks nice, no bigger issues with fps but it was crashing every 2-3 minutes. PC with Ryzen 7700X / Radeon 7800XT is not able to run this game without problems. If someone thinking about purchase, just cosider it carefully, because you will need a REAL BEAST of a pc...
Even with this beast of a Pc u will crash a lot!!! I have an 4090 with i9 13900k, 64gb Ram, 7TB SSDs, 1200 Watts and so on and this game crashes one day every 5 minutes and other days once in 3 hours...i think we have to wait till these needed patches come
Really well articulated mate on why this game if you ark fan. Is definitely worth the wait and can only get better going forward. Clearly had its early issues and lacked organised realise but think most will agree will be new and better Ark given time.
They also forgot to add stone and metal piping, you can't bring water to your base
To me the worst part is that you can no longer upgrade movement speed. You should at least be able to do this on single player because now it takes absolutely forever to fly anywhere on the map

My only issue with ASA is the tether is still here, even worse than ASE. I’m a console player and the ASE tether was 400 meters and ASA has a 200 meter tether, that’s my only issue with it
If i buy this on ps5 what maps will i have access to and when will they release as i heard there's a release order

+ great graphics with a fresh feeling
+ building system is improved
- visuals are sometimes glitchy
- new AI is currently even more troublesome than the old Survival Evolved
- pillar/foundation spam still a thing
- and of course the crashes........

I have zero interest in buying this game until it leaves early access status. I would rather try and enjoy it when it's had the time in the oven it needs. I wouldn't mind waiting a year or so. Why make myself suffer. There are plenty of totally impatient people to do that for me. Regardless, I hope the game is a success and that a lot of people enjoy it.

I play solo on Xbox Series X, and I have yet to see instability or crashes. I honestly think playing the game basically vanilla on hard mode, along with all the quality of life changes, better graphics and smooth gameplay, this game is going to keep me entertained for a long time. I have been putting all my points into carry weight as to not become OP, and turned off all loot crates. Being by yourself with nearly all dinos being dangerous to you at any level, the immersion is so real.
