    First , thanks for posting I just did this repair today on my daughters 07 civic. I used your video step by step. However I found that this is not a one man job.i first ran into problems getting the replacement mount holes to line up. That was a quality issue with the part. The really tough. Part was getting the little round tab on to of the new mount to line up to the A shape bracket and then getting the 2 holes lined up on the engine side. It took one person moving the engine back and forth until the tab finally fell into the the bracket hole. It turned into a 6 hour job. With that being said, your video was very helpful. Thanks again

    Not bad at all, I love how the curved lines gave perfect access to that fender bolt. Won't find ideas like that under a gm hood lol

    The video helped very much, when I replaced my engine mount today. Many bolts were tight, from corrosion, since there are 130,000 miles, on my 2008 Civic. I left that little 6mm bolt, in the aluminum bracket, at the 3:00 minute mark. Everything else, went as the video showed.

    Just did one of these on my civic a week ago. If you're very careful, you can leave the one 10mm on the side of the middle bracket that's connected to the mount s and just have the 3 bolts disconnected, and you'll be able to move it just enough to give you enough room to pull out the mount without having to completely remove that middle bracket, while not damaging any lines in the process. Same goes for sliding the new mount underneath that bracket as well. Its somewhat of a pain having to get the bolts realigned that way, but it's not super bad to do at all as long as you have patience. Other videos will have people disconnecting the brake line brackets and the ac line brackets just to give you more clearance, which is good in order to not risk damaging any lines, but it is unnecessary as long as you are careful

    I replaced the engine mount a few months ago late at night with a few mates and it was not a one man job at all . We spent 2 hours trying to line up the 2 bolts on the mounting bracket while pushing the engine back and forth and ended up leaving it as everything was bolted back in. I bought the aftermarket engine mount from Transgold.

    Great video! Followed it exactly and changed the mount in under 1.5 hours. When you put the new on, you may have to slightly rock the engine but it moves easily enough. I used OEM part ($200) since I read that some after market part holes don't line up all the time and that some may fail after a year or 30k miles.I also prefer OEM but to each his own. My original lasted over 95k miles and 7 years. Hopefully this new one will last the same amount of time. Anyway, it's an easy enough repair as opposed to having the dealer do it for $500 plus. The vibration is completely gone now and car rides smooth. Thanks for the excellent video!!

      Did your motor tilt when removing the dog bone bracket? I've heard engine likes to tilt backwards and lifting oil pan towards the rear helps. What position was yours? I might be doing this job with a car jack.

    • @btvr17
      @btvr17 7 лет назад

      It didn't move during the removal of the dog bone. After the mount was removed it had shifted a little. I had a helper and used a floor jack with an old lawn mower blade between the jack and oil pan since the civic is so low to the ground and I didn't have jack stands. I put the jack in center of pan. We just raised it a little and you can rock the engine slightly to get the holes to line up. Wasn't a big deal. Just think things through before doing it and you should be fine. Helps to have an assistant.

    Mine is loud while driving, higher rpms make it louder. It's a manual, quiet in neutral, but loud when you rev it up in neutral, has a vibration. Think this could be the problem? All the noise is under the hood

  • @Michael-fw5ef
    @Michael-fw5ef 8 лет назад +3

    I have a 2012 Honda Civic. I am getting the vibration into the cabin which feels like the dash is vibrating/shaking. I think my transmission mount is worn because the vibration is worse when I put the car into reverse and it will stop vibrating when I put the car into neutral.
    I am really disappointed in Honda. I only have 70,000 km on my car. My Corolla had 248,000 km and never replaced any engine mounts or transmission mount. Honda really needs to fix this issue.

    • @FixItAngel

      +asdf072xxp The part was just old. More likely the rubber on it was worn. I recommend replacing all the mounts because if you just replace one, the new mount will prematurely wear because of the old mounts are worn.

      When it needs to be replaced, you feel the vibration much more and it can be a noise too but just when you are driving.
      You can even hear the engine sound much more like it the engine was much more accelerated because the mount separate 2 pieces of metal but when it gives both parts are in contact.

    Mine failed 3x!! Im at 130k on my 8th gen civic. Im sick and tired of replacing them. All other mounts are good except this one always goes bad!! First one at 50k then another at 90k and then now at 130k!! Im just going to grind that metal part that sticks down from the bracket so it give more sagging room for the engine.

    • @purpledonatello
      @purpledonatello 6 лет назад

      Are u using oem passenger mount? I’ve heard they last longer about 50k. I’m thinking about buying a 8th gen or do u recommend going for a 9ths gen civic? It seems there is no solution to solve this motor mount problem. Honda should at least redesign the motor mount a lot more sturdy like having an extra base around the mount just like the 9th gen civic has.

    • @haa1774
      @haa1774 6 лет назад

      Fix It Angel i checked the lower one by removing it and was good. I replaced the transmission mount and torque strut mount together with the motor mount. This time i put a washer between the bracket and the motor mount and also washers on the engine side to raise the stopper. It raised it a few mm. Still too low in my opinion. I also used the same mount you used about 2 years ago. Blue one from motorking and now i purchased a beck arnley for my current replacement.

      More likely it's the passenger motor mount. Was it ever replaced??

      I'm pretty sure it OEM. at 157k Miles. Just bought MotorKing MK4530 Engine Mount. Going to see if that stops it.

      it looks like it. but i suggest you replace all the mounts. the new motor mount will prematurely wear because the other mounts is already worn. have someone to press the gas while on park and brake pedal pressed with left foot. put on drive, press the gas a little with right foot and see if the motor moves a lot. then try on reverse. If it does move a lot, replace all motor mounts.
