I was of the impression, at this point, that it wasn't that Sirrus and Achenar were somehow wreaking new havoc- rather, I thought Saavedro was a survivor from one of the worlds they had ruined/burned before Myst (or possibly even one of the four ages seen in Myst, but that seems less likely). An old wound, not a fresh one. He's talking about growing old and wondering how long it's been, so that would seem to fit.
I lol'd at a shell, a coffee grinder and a thingamajig
I agree about the changing cursor for navigation. Myst III seems rather bare bones, like there were a lot of simple elements that were skimmed over for no apparent reason. There is even a camera shutter sound on the Myst III disc which isn't accessible in game, suggesting that maybe there was planned a camera like in Myst IV for Myst III but wasn't added in for the final.
Saavedro has been really careless with his balls.
It does seem the eyes were erased after many tries and not being able to get them right (because he cannot remember as has been mentioned earlier). Before that is revealed later in the game, I had imagined him breaking into tears and rubbing his fist against his eyes while he leans his face against the painting - also explaining why the hair is smeared as well.
I always thought Saavedro didn't draw in Tamra's eyes because he could probably never get them right. Like in the movie The Truman Show when Jim Carrey tries to make up a pic of his first love with magazine cut outs and finding the eyes was the hardest part.
I really like how you explain where the solutions to the puzzles come from. Much of the time with this game I had to do trial and error because I didn't realize that all this stuff was relevant.
So, an iron fence that's connected to a pulley system as an interior door just in front of a normal door, and an elevator that has to rotate to connect to either the outside or the inside?
...Yeah, this IS Atrus's home. The shit poor Catherine puts up with while her husband gets some fancy home improvements ideas, I swear.
Well he did want Atrus to solve the puzzles, otherwise he wouldn't have found the messages and "learned his lesson".
Ah this is by far my favourite adventure game of all time. Thank you for taking the time to play it again! :D
He lost his marbles :D
I really love this video, especially with the fly contraption ^_^ Overall, I just love your attitude when you're doing your commentary. It's so light-hearted and fun
I'm so happy that your finally doing Myst 3.
15:00 "What is it with these games and really macabre teaching tools?"
Maybe after the teachers show them the principles and the lessons, they say: "Remember children, if You don't want to end up like that, You better study hard."
15:35 Brings back memories of getting lost in Edanna.
That hammer is interesting: it is both really crude and rather intricately decorated.
If saavedro was on Twitter hed earn a day or two being the main character and forever earn the title "Eyeless Wife Guy"
I love your commentary
I have played it before but it was years ago, plus I didn't pay much attention to Saveedro's diary, when I probably should have lol. It was a nice touch to the story, you gotta feel bad for him, it's not his fault he's gone crazy :-p
I see. Also, it actually wasn't in the journal, but in one of the imager videos.
I'm assuming you've played the game before from that comment, so I'll say that you may remember Saavedro saying later that he woke up one morning and couldn't remember Tamra's eyes.
This is probably the most easiest puzzle in the game all that it requires is reading Saaverdro's journal
Saavedro is basically Khan from Star Trek. I always unconsciously connected them.
Yeah! That didn't come out right about the wooden balls! That sounded dirty
I always thought that the painting of the woman was that the eyes were rubbed out instead of not drawn yet.
Aw maaaan... these Parts are too short! :) Can't you upload the whole shebang in one go?
I watched your other Myst Let's Plays more or less in one sitting, while cleaning, wroking etc., these daily portions don't put me in the mood. But saving up a few is so haaaard..!
I think the cursor lights up a bit when you can move places, not sure.
Imagine if someone lowered the elevator while you were down in that hole.
11:59 That was funny. An you have right. That fly is stupid. ;D
LOL, no that really didn't come out right.
That giant leaf looks almost like the underside of a lilypad which would be the worst thing for a pillow!
So is the Myst universe inside a paradox?
Saavedro disliked this video...
of course he will, when it is more relevant.
hello
that FFFFFLLYYYY is driving me mad!
LOL! Well, if I ever join a big corporate business and own a skyscraper, I'll be sure to get an irritating discouraging J'nanin elevator so nobody can break in. That is, if they haven't played the game of course.
i appreciate these videos and the effort you put into them but wow... 10 minutes to read through one fucking book... you drag things out way to much it becomes tedious to watch
Jesus christ get on with it
