Great review! I'm sorry you had to test that 90's GSXR paint job Zero, but better colours on the market now, thank god for that. This Zero is a stunner, prices of electric bikes are slowly coming down to be affordable, and this model is a good example of the electric revolution thats coming.

Still far too expensive, the maths still don't work. For the price of this bike you can pick up a decent new bike and still pay for 10's of 1000's of miles in fuel before you've even got close to the price of this alone.
@Andy P : At the first point your points are damn right but then we all will have to think which one we should select - Pollution or No Pollution. Painful matter is for the riders - Price Point ! And here we are helpless.
@@GautamKumarGoswami Its a step in the right direction, but the electricity source is still majority fossil fuel. So more: "pollution here? or pollution there?"
You failed to mention that though it is more expensive than comparable petrol bikes at initial purchase, it won't require oil changes, gas, engine maintenance, spark plugs, chain adjustments, filters and other various costs that come with petrol bikes during their lifetimes. So, taking that into consideration, perhaps overall its about the same in cost. I like it, I'm seriously considering a Zero for my next bike. It would be a great commuter bike around a city
Hello, I tested it. It is a great experience. Feeling light flying on the road. The only dark point for me is the position of foot rest. They are to high and on the rear. Thus knees are really bended... And I am short, 1m73. I would love a little more road trail position. Also a shame that Zero did not give led turn lights on an electric bike... even in option. Awaiting for the new DS that hopefully will match my need.
It’s awesome, but not for the price. Zero must be overpricing it. they should make it cheaper and probably sell a lot more. Even here in Norway, where the infrastructure regarding electric chargers are probably the best in the world, it’s still not worth the money. The design, materials used etc can be compared with a petroleum bike that cost half that money. Electric bikes is easier to mass produce too..?! Price should be around 13K USD in my humble opinion. Range should also be at least 300km on highway.
Zero simply does not have the production capacity. AFIK they do not have a massive Cell Production factory have to buy it from suppliers. Most BEV companies make the vehicles, some package the battery box but nearly all have to Buy Cells from a limited supplier. Until these Bike Company operate their own Cell factory at a massive scale Fast E Bikes will not be affordable.
@@Neojhun I mostly agree, but I don't think every company has to make their own cells to make prices reasonable. That's like every fabless semi company building their own fab. I think eventually we'll have enough suppliers and the suppliers will be big enough to drop the prices. Currently not even car manufacturers other than freakin' Tesla, VW or maybe some Chinese brands (?) make their own.
@@at0m113 Unlike Semi the process is much simpler and it much more reliant on Raw Materials and Large Scale. Semi Conductor Fabless & Foundry model works because the each product unit is soo Expensive and require massive investment into new advance tooling. That is reversed for Cells.
I've watched a ton of terrible 'review' videos of this bike. This one, however, is well edited, has considered voice over, great structure and a thoughtful approach. Nice to get away from 'reviewers' screaming down a straight road reacting to the insane acceleration. Great stuff!
They must be engineering some artificial sound that mimics the gasoline speed bikes to take care of your/my sound concerns. Just like they did with BMW i8. should listen to that, sounds like a monster but all artificial. 🤫
Looks really promising. Hopefully it'll be affordable to mere mortals one day. Question - Who designed the graphics on the bike, and have they come down yet? 😂
Haha so English Electric Motor Co are veeeeeery kind to let RUclipsrs come and ride their bikes all day. It's a big risk for them because they have to repair their demo bikes if they get dropped etc. and what's in it for them if I just post a review of a Zero without mentioning them? I think the bold graphics are just a way to make sure people know it's their bike and get them the recognition on RUclips and Instagram for being so cool to lend their bikes out. Otherwise Zero would be getting all the benefit, without having done any of the work to collab with RUclipsrs. Hope that makes sense! :)
Even when these bikes surpass petrol bikes in ability , they'll never surpass them in enjoyability. Maybe newer generations will come to love them , but i'll always be a petrol man.
I am a performance man. what will take me the fastest, stop quickest, handle the best and have least maintenance will be the winner. It is coming quick. I have no issues with change at all. Shit, I remember castor oil and points.
I test-rode it. It's worth it. Remember that with the instant torque it will be quicker than any mass-produced super bike off the line. Gas bikes have to rev-up to red-line to hit their peak power/torque. The super bikes (gas) will have a higher top end speed, but 124 MPH is enough for me. Two reasons I haven't ordered one yet: I'm waiting until the 'PowerTank' is available for longer range (supposed to be available by the end of the year), and I'm also waiting to see what Lightning does with their 'Strike'. (They've kept us in suspense for 6 months now).
I can't see these stealing sales away from bikes with internal combustion engines until they start getting decent range from them, I would want at least 250 miles of hard riding with pillion on board or else it would be useless to me. There's no getting away from the fact that you can 'fully charge' a petrol-engined bike in a matter of minutes.
When I was a kid we used to take an empty cigarette cardboard pack and clip it onto the front fork of our bicycles with a clothes pin with the cigarette pack cardboard facing so the bike's spokes would hit the cardboard as the wheel was turning and it would sound like a motorcycle. You cold do that right?
Although the Zero's motor has higher torque output than the LiveWire and Energica Eva, it is geared higher so has less torque at the rear wheel. In terms of rear wheel torque the pecking order is LiveWire, then Eva, then the SR/F. As you pointed out, the SR/F has a weight advantage, so it would be interesting to do a three way drag race to find out which one is the fastest. Then in terms of motor cooling, the LiveWire uses water cooling, the Eva uses oil cooling, while the SR/F uses only air cooling. So the SR/F would be the most likely to suffer from overheating in a track day situation.
I'm worried about car drivers with this thing. Many barely notice you anyways and I imagine it's gonna get a lot worse when you almost don't make any sound
Don't worry, most drivers have blasting music on, or sit in a well noise reduced chamber. Already today your not noticed because of noise but because of lights. And still there's a great horn ;)
Was going to buy a Livewire but common sense kicked in and I got the SR/F. No regrets as I saved 10k not including the 3k dealer markup at HD and the extra taxes. Level 2 charging was the key to the recharging kingdom where I live so that was just a bonus.
Zachary Brown Or slightly less expensive but with 5kWh more battery/more range. Doesn’t come with traction control but faster charging. I hope a RUclipsr from the UK has ordered one, otherwise it’s a flight to California...I’ve never been so...US sales first though so will await with interest.

The main for Japanese manufacturers have set some unity standards. For batteries charging stations etc. so you already know they are all in.
Unfortunately our society still puts profit before the environment. With this mentality our planet is doomed.
@@dkreps Buy me one, I'll gladly give up my ICE bike.
@@GautamKumarGoswami Its a step in the right direction, but the electricity source is still majority fossil fuel. So more: "pollution here? or pollution there?"
Gautam Kumar Goswami the pollution is just shifted right now to the electric generation instead of the tailpipe
It would be a great commuter bike around a city
amazing bike!
You are absolutely right 20000$ is too much for motor +600 dollars fast charger +2000 dollars better battery
If I have the money,I buy it for sure!!!Amazing design and performances...
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, uhhhhhhhh!" The sound of acceleration.
This one is easy on the eyes. Very nice.
I also decided to buy, untill now the bike got any problems? Battery? Others?
I've watched a ton of terrible 'review' videos of this bike. This one, however, is well edited, has considered voice over, great structure and a thoughtful approach. Nice to get away from 'reviewers' screaming down a straight road reacting to the insane acceleration. Great stuff!
4 and a half hours to full charge from home????? That's so good wtf. Sold.
Looks great I think there’s something in common with duke
I can see myself owning a eletric car for commuting and stuff, but E-bikes just look boring, sound is a very important thing in a motorcycle for me
Yeah, for me too. I'd love to ride a silent motorcycle. I hate listening to loud tractors going by.
They must be engineering some artificial sound that mimics the gasoline speed bikes to take care of your/my sound concerns. Just like they did with BMW i8. should listen to that, sounds like a monster but all artificial. 🤫
Wait for the Lightning Strike to hit the market. The carbon edition comes with a 20 kWh battery, DC fast charging and a price of $20,000 US.
Looks suspiciously similar to Honda's CB 2019
It's beautiful! Almost as goodlooking as my Honda CB 650 R NEO!
The colour scheme does look like they smoked some magic mushrooms.
I ordered it in December and it is now at the dealership. Let's get the paperwork done :-)
The only "advantage" of combustion engines is the noise they make.
And that is a purely psychological advantage.
Really good Bike. I tested it. Lovely but way much to expensive.
Damn, that thing is gorgeous.
*Rev bombing has left the chat*
Really nice review, thanks!
Cheers Arnaud - appreciate it
I can't see these stealing sales away from bikes with internal combustion engines until they start getting decent range from them, I would want at least 250 miles of hard riding with pillion on board or else it would be useless to me.
There's no getting away from the fact that you can 'fully charge' a petrol-engined bike in a matter of minutes.
I think your right, arty the price that bikes got the win hands down
I would wish it make a nice sound... that’s one of the most important things about a bike is the sound
@@brainwash650 i said a nice sound...
@@brainwash650 For a bicycle yaaa. Not sure about an emotorcycle though. Better than sounding like a vacuum cleaner....lol
Your intro music is awesome
doubt youd be spending to much on maintainance though.. bar tyres and brakes.
wonderful test ride, very clear
How my beer... what about the "Lightning Strike" motorcycle
Good point! I think they’re US only at the moment though, so not much chance I’ll get to test one
How what?
I'll wait for lightning strike and see if it holds up to the SR/F
Zachary Brown Have you ordered a Strike? Im very interested in it.
Andrew Allen no but I’m very interested. Has better specs than zero, better looks and a lot cheaper. Want to at least get on one before deciding.
Beautiful bike
There are over 100 DC fast charging stations in London. Where did you get "only 3"?
Thanks for flagging this up mvetter. I'll take a look back through my script and see where I picked that up - I'll pin your comment in the meantime tho for others to see.
@@motobob Wow hey thanks for the response. Didn't expect you to see or respond. For reference, just pop open PlugShare.com and turn on the CCS filter. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
@@mvetter Yeah I had a bit of a play with Zap Map which was enlightening! Thanks for those other resources though - I'll keep it in mind for future videos. Feel like I need to get an electric bike for a longer term test to get a bit more immersed in what it's like to own...
@@motobob I have learned quote a lot in the last year and a half of switching exclusively to electric motorcycles, and working in the industry gives a different perspective on top of that. I would have thought Alec might mention the charging thing especially considering he's carrying Energica bikes as well, now.
Fast charging is of utmost importance for me, so I value that very highly among all stats to consider on the bikes.
@@mvetter Honestly totally not Alec's fault - he gave as much information and help as he could in a day, but ultimately you still need to piece the videos together when you're home and editing. I must have ridden 5 or 6 bikes that day, so you can't remember it all. So ultimately it just comes down to my bad research and sources - I definitely picked that up off another site
Test rode one a few weeks ago and was not impressed. Yes it was very quick when you turn the throttle but unfortunately it ran out of grunt at around 90 mph and the range if you are on it is only around 80 miles. It needs to have a much better range and a far better range. The commentator did touch on it and the electric bike's major strength and that's commuting it's a no brainer but I commute on a Honda C90 Cub and this will not replace my cub.
If you are interested in an electric bike I would wait for the Lightening to come from the states. Faster and better battery life.
And starts as much as a Tesla lmao
I love it... how much price is??? Can I purchase this from India.
I literally cannot wait for this technology to become affordable
Long countryside rides in relative silence... What a luxury
Although beautiful and innovative the price is a killer.
What is the price
@@elohim8895 like 16-18k usd!
That color though 😎
🔥
My god this thing is fast. I'm afraid this thing will outrun my baby. Which I'm certain it will :(
It outran an H2R
I think you're bang on the money haven't got a full licence but I can ride the s or the DS but I wish I had the money to buy them I just too expensive gone away few more years on then might have a full licence then get that one
Would a full fairing not help with range at highway speed?
yes it will..but they also add weight to the machine
@@fidelcatsro6948 Yea, I don't think ~20lbs would hurt the range as much as the greatly increased drag.
Maybe a fairing would negatively impact city range but help at higher speeds?
I feel like it should definitely be an option at least.
todays naked bike design that look more like transformer cartoon robots are quite aerodynamic just look at those flushed lights etc..we need better batteries that are safer and hold better energy densities per pound of weight
Jmac yes absolutely - and full streamliner bodywork exponentially more so.
Looking at this motorcycle for the fact it can go on the expressway and has lots of power. Id rather have more power and not need you know. Nice video
yes, is a monster. But $26k. Damn.
We're still a way off mainstream pricing. The Zero S starts at £9k though and was still a blast to ride.
Cheaper then a Harley Davidson live wire
@@dennism103 maybe so.... but if you have the money then the Harley still will have the better build quality. All E-Bikes are way too expensive. Now is the time for the tech company exec's to purchase them to create a base to build off of like Tesla did. Eventually the price will come down to be attainable for the masses. Until then, most will just watch the videos.
I have an electric scooter and it accelerates for only 51km/h but only costs for about $500 converted from Phil. Peso. Still using it for a year and it's very worth it for everyday use. Travels for 60-70km at full charge. The battery box can fit to 72V lithium ion batteries and it will instantly go up to 65-70km/h and travels for about 80-90km. The lithium batteries here costs for only $260 per set and it will last for about 5 years or more. The repair for parts only costs $7-$15 and will be repaired for only 30 minites, btw. Totally worth it.
But nowadays, you can buy a secondhand unit for only $200 and still in very good condition.
1:46 wow wow wow wow lol
Like you say, it's the best looking electric bike out there. But I look forward to see what some of the custom guys will do with it.
For sure! Even removing the usual homologation items would heated in up a lot. I think it’d also look pretty awesome with everything blacked out
