I’d be curious to see you do a series on how you pack for different types of trips if you’re not testing product and bringing your personal favorite items. Daily coffee shop commute. Beach trip, weekend road trip, flying somewhere for a week… etc. Everyone has their own style and I’d be curious to see yours without the burden of product testing impacting your decisions.
Here’s the kinda thing I love about a Chase review: [referring to a small, diagonally zippered pocket on one lower side of a messenger bag] “And this is a pocket you’ll hardly ever use, but you’ll throw in a set of keys so that you can forget later what you did with your keys.” Exactly, man! True, dat! Word.
My journey of messengers, with your help: Pre-Chase - Timbuk2 Commuter -> Timbuk2 Messenger XS Post Chase - Filson 24 hour tin -> Waterfield Vitesse -> Mission Workshop Transit Brief -> Waterfield Bolt Brief Medium -> Nutsac Satchel 13 -> Chrome Citizen -> Mission Workshop Shed -> Mission Workshop Khyte -> Defy 1 of 1 -> Waterfield Bolt Brief Large -> Trakke Wee Lug Cobra I'm a sucker for Waxed Canvas so I still have the Vitesse, Large Bolt, Nutsac and Trakke. Still have the Citizen and 1 of 1, but have sold the others to try other bags out. The Wee Lug is hands down my favorite right now, well designed and built....and those cobra buckles are too good!
Not a messenger, but I love my Aer Commuter Brief 2, early pandemic purchase. A little more formal now that I am back to work, but my favorite aspect is still that it stands up on its own. Especially with prolonged pandemic work from home in makeshift spaces, it is great to set down wherever and it will stay, not flop over, and remain somewhat open so you can access it next to you.
i have a question, im looking for a messenger bag that can hold 8 notebooks, 3 text books, pad paper and whiteboard, alcohol spray glue pencil case and white board eraser and makers separately from pencil and Aqua flask water what do you recommend?
One of my favorite bags ever came from the folding bike company Brompton that had this touring bag. Deep abyss of a cavity. The Mission Workshop reminds me of it a lot but with way more organization. If that could be combined with the Mystery Ranch... 😚👌🏾
@@dastintrombone88 It was called the Brompton T Bag. T for Touring. I don't think they sell them anymore, instead they have evolved to be known as the Brompton Borough Roll Top Bag. REI seems to carry them, which is news to me!
such a great video, you have such a good energy and flow! pleeeeease look into making another one of these videos, and adding some OrbitGear bags into the video as well! they look pretty practical, but also very tactical haha. havent gotten one yet, but would love to see your perspective on it.
Code of bell have a 3 way now called the X-Case, and their X-Tote would go into this category. Might be a bit elon musk for you but would love to see a review of it if you ever get hold of one. In the mean time, I'm off to go look at the MR 3 way, again. You're review has just put it back in my head after considering it on and off for a year.
Solid round up, Chase. Hey, where/how do you store your bags? I've got quite a few, and they're just hanging on the back of doors, hung on hooks on the side of bookshelves, and stuffed into a closet. There's gotta be a better way!
Chase, great video. I am curious what home audio studio recording setup you have. (DAW, interface, Etc) I know you play guitar as I have seen some in a past video... I am also into guitars, recording and bags. I would be interested to hear what you use...maybe you could do a video? Still hard to travel these days but ready to go as soon as there is a visible light down the road... Cheers
Mandatory consideration: the Alpha One Niner Chio. I hope it'll show up on this channel someday. The only bag I own doubles of - because I can't bear the idea of going a day without it.
I have a general complaint for all bag manufacturers , why do they use dark colors for inside fabrics , i wish they add more bright tones inside to easily discriminate what’s in your bag especially when you have black devices , it’s a pain to find stuff sometimes
You read my mind, was looking at for something like this yesterday. I may go with Nomadic Tech Case, because it's not so bulky. I hope there is something like that in here, about to watch your video!!!
Are there any good packable messenger bags out there? I'd love something thin and lite that I could easily put into my travel backpack. I'm a guy that's cursed with a sweaty back, so have a shoulder sling style back that can carry my laptop and other items as my day bag on trips is much better than walking around with a backpack on.
Chase, you said the headphones were 'affordable' so I followed your link. I believe we have different ideas of what 'affordable' means. 😂 Still love your channel, keep the great content coming! You're one of the best reviewers on RUclips.
My kuhl bag is probably one of the best bags I've ever bought. Yeah it cost $250 but I'll have it for the next 25 years or longer so it's definitely worth the price!
Great roundup Chase! I also have a Mystery Ranch 3 Way Briefcase, been using it for quite some time and it works well for me during normal work days and when I have to travel for work. Oh, I had the Topo 3-day Global Briefcase, sold it off though to buy the MR 3 way briefcase.😆
OMG this was endlessly entertaining and I'm still watching. I just had to stop and rewind just to watch "enjoy your life" again at 21:02. I'm liking that Mystery Ranch bag... didn't realize they made a messenger. Top quality Chase content as always.
I gotta ask chase do you have something against chrome industries? I have been waiting for your review on thier bags and I thought definitely the big messenger episode would get a mention..
@@chasereeves that's fair. I haven't seen a review that has sold me on them yet either. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Keep the review grind going strong man.
I wonder how many of these bags would’ve lasted as long as that Filson, which seems to have have done so effortlessly. Credit to old world Filson...maybe not so much modern day Filson though. Chase, you need either a 1990’s Rugged Twill 256/257/258 briefcase in your life to truly see what a true quality Filson was. You can pick one on eBay (with tags still attached) for less then the cost of a new one, with lesser quality.
No way, I love the 24hr so much more with those two big booby pockets on the front. That bag was EVERYWHERE for a while. Articles were written about the "ubiquitous filson briefcase." But you're right about the previous generation on eBay, i'd bet 🖖
None of those is actually a good versatile messenger bags. They are either not roomy inside for various size objects or have a too slow to open. Here's the two basic rules for the proper messenger bag: 1. It should be able to hold both a large pizza box and a basket ball (not at once, but either one). Yet not too bulky and shaped that things do not fall out when it's being held vertically. 2. It should have a long cover flap with big pockets, so it can be heavy, thus kept closed just from the weight without the need to lock it, yet with the option to securely lock it too. Long enough to cover items that are so big that do not feat inside completely. There are many more features that can make it even better.
The thing I hate about Mystery Ranch is the black fabric is a huge dust/hair magnet. I'm highly dissapointed with this brand for this. Do they realize about this issue? Such a design flaw.
Note on the Peak Messenger - The one you demonstrated is not made anymore. The only have 13in versions and they are UGLY AF. I wish this bag was still made.
Dude is just ad libbing....As for the Vanquest Envoy......those neoprene handles do not shed and break down relatively quickly.....been daily carrying for over two years.....the bag is quality built.....
A Top Messenger Bag without the Wotancraft Pilot 7L or 10L is simply bullshit. Read the infos, write my message and close the window. I saved 38mn of my life.
would you recommend the Pakt 25l duffel as a similar carry to the Atlas? That bag appeals a lot to me but i’m not as big a fan of the leather (or the price tag). The Pakt, from what i’ve seen; looks like a similar form factor and method of carry but with techier materials. But would it be too big? And is it still made well?

Messenger bags are my favorite “look”. Unfortunately they hurt my back. Apparently I’m either out of shape or carrier to much. 🤣
Are messenger bags good to use as a weekend bag for packing clothes or are they better for electronics?
The intro song is gold
Love your reviews. I love messenger bags - do you have a list of recommended messengers for bike commuters?
I like the ability to get into things smooth and fast too.

What’s the green backpack in the background?
Please could you review the Waterfield Tech Folio Briefcase 🙏🏻
