This song is brilliant but also makes me so sad ; as a Londoner seeing a great city being consumed by violence greed and contempt for all others ; is there any hope ?
The truth is always the truth regardless of a time or a place. Truth full video and truth full words. Lovely to see in a world were everyone is frightened of political correctness Nazi's the Specials tell it how it is.
Met Lynval and his writing partner, last Saturday before the Kentish Town gig. So happy to see them enjoying themselves. They were awesome. Great audience, what more can you want!
This song needs to be posted on the comments of every ‘drill’ music video. This wave of violence amongst young people has to stop! Well done to the Specials for bringing this unacceptable and hateful trend to the forefront via their amazing tune! 👏 Peace and love to all!!
The verse when he sings reminds me of early kaiser chiefs. I love the political songs the specials have done! Truly amazing! Shame they don’t get the recognition today that they truly deserve
Hi Special guys ! Been listening to you for years. Learned to tidy chaos with the first LP. Been wondering for long what happened musically and in the band on the second one. Listened a lot the EPs. Rude buoy outta jail, friday night... Parts of my life. Read the Horace book, listened to funboy three (unknown in France). I didn't enjoy what you recorded with Amy Winehouse. It wasn't the Specials to me. Can't explain. Encore is the Specials to me. Part of the famly. Can't explain either. Even without Neville, and JB. I like Embarassed by you. Killer bass, great flow. Easy guitar trick to have a bridge but I don't care (I use that chords too). I like the peremptory tone of the lyrics. I like how you don't care about some societal SJW hypocrisy. BUT ! I remember the sweetness of the a message (almost a massage) to Rudy. Youth in danger at that time is now a danger. I too have grown old. Well...
I don't remember a single generation in the UK were Kids were forming gangs, stabbing is an everyday event, shootings are weekly event that doesn't even make the news it is so common. Mugging is seen as an honorable way to make money. Gangs on scooters stealing of of young girls. Do I need to go on. No, look back through history, my generation was bad, football hooligans racist etc, Reference the film This is England. But there was a moral code towards women, the old and the innocent.

I couldn't tell him that my status was different from yours. I tried to educate him so that he wouldn't be killed, but he robbed my room of my property and kept playing. And he told me. "Please kill me." I was looking forward to what he would leave, but he was the only one. I thought he was remorseful, but his violence and swearing did not end. I wondered if he didn't know that the violence and swearing was domestic violence. He injured my leg and head, after which he tried to stop my bleeding. And he realized it was impossible to stop bleeding and called only an ambulance. I called the police. His name is Satou Kei.Police officers and guards in the area made me a bad guy.
we need ex army guys as police ,, not over weight little kids in uniform that are scared,, theres a war on uk streets lets win it back and become great again,, this song says it all weldone specials,, like fine wine get better every year .....
Their anger in this song is aimed at lowlife scumbags in the UK who play at being gangsters, hiding under their 'hoodies' uniform and usually in gangs for that full-on scary look to intimidate anyone they may approach, because when they're on their own they're just little shit-bags.. This song sums up the horrible little bastards perfectly, it's already a gem in my book..
Ach, ten years of "austerity", cutting education and youth services, hostile environment, blaming the poor for being poor, the rise in racism and fascism, and you bring out a record attacking a symptom, not the cause!
I've been a fan of the Specials and their music since I was a kid but I was disappointed and angry when I heard this song. They picked their target because they're an easy target not because they're the root of the problem, I've never heard so much bullshit being spouted in a single song.
Loved The Specials but this is too simplistic. They sound like the people they stood up against. Blaming the young. Age mellows everyone but the real issues are the consecutive governments that created this lack of hope and direction for the country... the lack of a concerned plan for people going forward and the vulgar gap in wealth. The problem is not necessarily opportunist looters.
@@carlmarkwyatt Cuts in policing, education in youth services dont help. However, I dont believe in treating them as victims either. Plenty grow up in similar deprived circs and dont end up nasty chavs. A societal problem for sure.
@@thechris6625 It was Neville Staple's grandson who was stabbed. He had nothing to do with this album. In fact he left because of the lack of concern others had for his health. And he now says taking part in the reunion without Dammers was the biggest regret of his life. Roddy Byers doesn't exactly paint a great picture of the current line up either and quite rightly jumped ship sometime ago. They are now a poor imitation of the orginal line up.
@@shack7631 fair comment mate they are the generation before mine so I only know their music not their history, saw the guys interview about his grandson and thought this track was about that. Agree it is not up to their usual standard and now I know why
There’s probably no-one better qualified to say what this song says than The Specials.
Absolutely right. I grew listening to these guys in the early-80s, but it gives me shivers listening to this today, as it’s so spot on.
A lot of countries should take this song to heart.
RIP Terry.....In These Current Times....His Lyrics Are SO TRUE ....Bless His Soul.

This song. RIP Terry.
Glad I saw you once.
Came off of Facebook and rejoined to share this.
In Chile we are listening to the Specials ✊
Great song & lyrics. After all these years ( & following punk ) someone is still telling the truth ( & that's not me being middle aged either!! ) X
The truth is always the truth regardless of a time or a place.
Truth full video and truth full words.
Lovely to see in a world were everyone is frightened of political correctness Nazi's the Specials tell it how it is.
The best specials record since ghost town . Like ghost town it sums up the state of the country .
The most Specials sounding Specials track on the new Specials album.
That's what I was "searching for"!!!! Nice work fella 😃
Cool song....it's stuck in my head ever since I saw The Specials play it on Graham Norton Show. Important message in this song.
Exactly same with me...i too saw on GNS n really fell for its lyrics n music

Between "Racist Friend" and today, the Specials said it all about our society. Thanks so much!
Huge greetings from Vancouver where I've seen them twice - very very relevant lyrics here

smithdvr Yeah, times have changed for much worse.
great lyrics ...sad to see terry pass ,hope the band continue xx
This is still a Boss Tune 🎶 in any era
As relevant in 2019 as they were in 1979. They're saying what current artists are incapable of saying.
This song is SOOOOOOOOOO nice i love it!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💕💕💕💕💕💖💖
timeless🙏
Just watched Graham Norton here in New Zealand The Specials played this and wow , what a Number. Great Stuff
Likewise, I nearly fell off the couch when he announced they had a new song
This is the very first song of theirs I've heard... Also from Graham Norton Show

The last thing we need is ex army policing the streets. They are causing enough havoc elsewhere
This song has never been more relevant than today as the righteous George Floyd protests have been hijacked by bad actors.
