    Details:
This successor to the G1 is thinner, while adding more memory and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also upgrades to a 5-megapixel camera and hi-res display like the Nexus One, and is among the first phones with faster HSPA 14.4 3G data. Other features include multi-touch screen, slide-out keyboard, Android platform, WiFi, Snapdragon processor, GPS, and a memory card slot. The G2 is a quad-band GSM phone along with WCDMA modes for international use, it also provides access to thousands of apps, games, books, movies, and music available in Google's Play Store.
Blazing fast 3G/4G-enabled, Android 2.2-powered smartphone with 3.7-inch touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard
Compatible with T-Mobile's growing HSPA+ 4G network--up to 3 times faster than standard 3G networks
5-megapixel camera; 720p HD video capture; 4 GB memory plus 8 GB included microSD card; Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking; Bluetooth stereo music; personal and corporate e-mail
Up to 6.5 hours of talk time, up to 420 hours (17.5 days) of standby time; released in September, 2010
What's in the Box: handset, rechargeable battery, charger, 8 GB microSD memory card, stereo headset, USB cable, quick start guide, user manual
An ultra-powerful smartphone designed by HTC and the highly anticipated successor to the T-Mobile G1, the Android-powered T-Mobile G2 with Google provides a blazing fast Web browsing experience and tight integration with Google services. Enabled for T-Mobile's high-speed 3G network, the G2 is also the first smartphone specifically designed for T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network.
The G2 pairs a large 3.7-inch screen with a unique hinge design that opens to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard, great for quick updates to your status on multiple social networks and replies to e-mails and messaging. It also includes a virtual onscreen keyboard with Swype technology, which allows you to input text faster and in a more intuitive way with one continuous finger motion across the screen keyboard.
It's also the first smartphone to offer integrated access to Google Voice, allowing you to create a new account using your current mobile number right from the home screen. Google Voice then automatically transcribes voicemails to text so you can read them like an e-mail or text message from your phone or online. Additional pre-loaded Google services include Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Places and Navigation, RUclips, Google Talk, and Google Earth among others.
Full QWERTY keyboard connected to phone's body via unique hinge design.
    Highly responsive navigation trackpad
5-megapixel camera with LED flash gives you a brighter light source for taking photos in less-than-ideal lighting situations.
    HD video capture capabilities (720p)
Media player compatible with MP3, WMA, AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ music formats and MPEG4 video
    FM radio
    Bluetooth connectivity (version 2.1)
    GPS, Wi-Fi
According to HTC's Vice President Bjorn Kilburn, the phone is the last Google-Assured QWERTY slider to be manufactured by HTC.

Still my favorite phone to date. These things are tanks, my toddlers play with mine as a toy phone and it holds up. Wish I could get a modern chipset, battery, and screen into the old case.

Man, I loved that phone. I bought the G1 the day it was released, and I got the G2 when if came out too. The physical keyboard was just satisfying to use.

Funny - just got mine out, and it still works. Still has original bat, not puffed up and holding it's charge at a surprising amount of capacity (can't say the same about my Samsung Galaxy Nexus that replaced it)... Mine does have an aftermarket Jelly Bean ROM - so it really highlights the low memory and storage space (super critical to keep the apps and data on the SD card). Gosh do I miss that keyboard (I can type so much faster and with out the usual missed keys). Well, as nice as the nostalgia trip was, it's time to put it away again. :-)

Definitely my fav phone to date.. The physical keyboard was a dream and the phone was very durable and well performing.
Plus the fact the battery was lasting forever. Decent camera.
Loved it! Had it for over 4 years!

Still have mine and even thinking about getting it back on. Probably going to use it for Hotspot or Tethering. This is the most rugged phone I've owned and the only thing I've replaced has been the battery. Now if I can get someone to get the Galaxy software into it.😁

If you want a keyboard phone now, the Pro 1 isn't your only choice. You have the Unihertz Titan series although it isn't a sliding keyboard

Mine is a british model or that it's on 2.3 gingerbread but my phone has HTC Sense, the digital trackpad scrolls through the home screen as opposed to hover over the icons and it has 1 less programmable key that's replaced with a symbol key.

This might be my favorite phone of all time. That scissor hinge was incredibly cool, and this device was a sleek upgrade from the original T-Mobile G1. The keyboard was solid, and I used those custom launch keys all the time. I know we're long past the point of physical keyboards on phones, but they were truly satisfying and fun to use. If a phone this small could fit a keyboard, and still have a headphone jack and expandable storage... Phone manufacturers today just have no excuse. It would be so fun to see this level of innovation again.

This and the original Moto Droid were two of my favorite things I’ve ever owned. Stock Android with a physical keyboard on an all metal phone was just … metal. I had the Droid long enough to finally beat all my favorite NES games on emulators with the benefit of saving, but I had to trade it for a G2 when I switched to a GSM network. I used that for at least five years. Finally had to give it up to get 4G. I’m definitely more sentimental about those phones than I am about any of my childhood pets. I would immediately trade my iPhone 13 for either of those if they re-released them with updated hardware.

*They need to make this phone a thing again with more modern features like OLED screens and updated processors, etc., for example. This phone is great. Both the G1 and the G2. I mean, they redid the Razr so why can’t they redo this one?*

My dad had this phone when I was in high school. He had it for YEARS. In fact, I think he only got rid of it when he got a new job and they gave him a new iPhone every year and paid the bill for him. He still says it was the coolest phone he's ever had haha.
