A true vocalist. Donna could sing live without any autotune, any weird technical props, no lip-syncing, just PURE VOCAL TALENT!!!!!!!!!!! BRING TALENT LIKE THIS BACK!!!! WE HAVE TO SAVE MUSIC BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!!
As a teenager in the 70’s listening to this song on her album On The Radio, I got wood every time! That album was huge when people had to go to a record store to buy records, not just download from home! She was competing against Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall the soundtrack to The Rose and Saturday Night Fever and she was kicking all kinds of ass!
The great Bernard Purdie on drums here. The bass player is excellent also. To play live like this takes true talent and these are session class players. A+ performance
Back when this came out people couldn't figure it out. I had older cousins who thought it was great and uncles who threatened to clunk them on the head just for liking it. I was about 13 and loved how music could create such reactions. It was much more than entertainment. Wonderful.
Her band is really tearing it up throughout this song! Note how she starts off with her original sexy voice at the beginning, but when her band lays the heavy funk down, she's forced to bring out the very soulful side of her voice that will carry her throughout her career, thus transforming this song from disco fluff to down-home soul! Her dancing & speaking at the bridge intensifies things further! Without question, this is her greatest performance of this classic ever!!
Everyone makes comments about Donna's amazing talent but I think we should look at her gift for writing as well. The lyrics for this song and the way she performed it are a genuine, heartfelt look at what it's truly like to be passionately in love with a Man and his loving you with the same intensity .Not everyone finds their soul mate and this song is about that intimacy and love.
Donna Summer The Authentic Queen of the Disco Music! Great! Wonderful Vocalist! I love her too much! She will be Alive Forever in our Minds and in Our Hearts!
My mother heard this when it was released and she said AMEN to women expressing themselves and their sexuality and owning their womanhood .Something that was shunned on before .And said "it's About Damn Time "
Wonderful show! Very beautiful and talented singer, amazing vocalist, and those dancers... Waouh! Flawless performance ! I mean i felt that kiss at 1'12.🥰🥰 And that dance at 1'32, how sensual it is, and the dancer is not even touching her! Donna Summer, you'll be forever missed!
I was a big admirer of Donna Summers music back in the 1970s, I do miss her a lot now she has passed and she was only 63, a mere youngster, fortunately I found one of her concert CDs recorded in 1999 while I was out shopping the other day, I really feel that it was a lucky find, so its joined my keepsake music collection.
Donna my love, you have and always will be my goddess. RIP Donna just wish I'd have seen you perform live, now I'll have to wait till my time comes. Love to love you baby xxx
Thank you Endless Donna! That"s me, the female dancer, hair pulled back, with Wyetta, Robert & Steve! This is the first time I've seen the video since the recording! A blast from the past! I was in my last year at the H.S of Performing Arts in NY. I was looking online for the show we did with her at Radio City Music Hall in the same year. If any of you have that one, I would really love to see it. That was my first pro job, the Midnight Special, the second. A Wow moment on this Sunday morning!
That must've be quite exciting to see yourself from over 40 years ago, wow how the world has changed !!! Your dancing gets a A+. The DVD containing this performance (and others) is available on Amazon (if you don't already own it under Midnight Special DVDs). For some reason I always thought the dancers came from Alvin Ailey, oh well, I stand corrected.
Waouh! Thanks for sharing that expérience with us in you tube! More than 40 Years later, I just imagin your emotion watching all this! What wonderful memories you should have! Believe me, you did an Amazing job in this video, flawless! Very scarce these days! How beautiful and talented you were all! I would love to know what have happened to the other dancers.
I remember her songs since i was a kid but didnt know who she was i was born in 88 but i started watching her videos a few years back and even thou she was 63 she was a hot mama..I wish i can go back in time and date her she's a true dream girl
It’s because ppl went crazy and tried to get her on stage when she sang this song…one time they chased her into her trailer. Donna Summer left use with amazing classic songs! She’s a legend 🕊
And in the 80s. She rose in fame in mid 70s but continued throughout 80s. Also, because you mentioned Madonna, when people in early 80s listened in the radio Madonna's first songs, they thought she was... Donna Summer!
My mother heard this when it was released and she said AMEN to women expressing themselves and their sexuality and owning their womanhood .Something that was shunned on before .And said "it's About Damn Time "
@ KG, me too. since 8yrs old I've been listening to Donna. c lives on..She still sounds fresh... We will miss her but the music lives through us all. RIP Donna Summer...
@earlthethird I was gonna say...say what you want to about this kind of music but I agree, those guys in her band are LAYIN It DOWN....what a groove! And....she's Freakin hot as hell.
No começo da carreira como cantava com uma sensualidade incrível e a voz magnífica sem perder a voz .Essa era uma cantora completa .Quando vai aparecer outra acho nunca mais. Ela nasceu para ser uma Estrela,Diva, Rainha,.

I’ve had people tell me I look like her. It’s such a compliment because I think she is so beautiful❤️
You look like young versión of Gloria Gaynor not Donna
Yes Girl! You do like Donna.
The great Bernard Purdie on drums here. The bass player is excellent also. To play live like this takes true talent and these are session class players. A+ performance
Great call!
FOREVER the disco queen...wish I could have been in New York in 1976. I was only 12 though. Love her!
Fab remastering of this 👏🏼
The Idol #LillyRose
wow!!! Even here Donna gives us a glimpse at the vocal range she has to offer! Her voice can be so magnificent and intense! Fantastic!
GrabTheCrap
So true
The last part of this song shows
Donna summer's true range abilities
Back when this came out people couldn't figure it out. I had older cousins who thought it was great and uncles who threatened to clunk them on the head just for liking it. I was about 13 and loved how music could create such reactions. It was much more than entertainment. Wonderful.
If there was any one that doubted if she could sing, even this song, now you know. Long live the spirit of the queen of disco.
Donna was a stunning talented beauty !!!!❤. She is missed very much !
I use to love this song!! I had her album and i listened to it over and over!!
Her band is really tearing it up throughout this song!

Without question, this is her greatest performance of this classic ever!!
This is the best vocal ever of this song. The ending gives me goosebumps every time.
PURE TALENT, BEAUTY, AND GRACE....DONNA SUMMER FOREVER......LOVE TO LOVE YOU MISS DONNA
Even more amazing when you realize all this rich sound is produced by real musicians and vocals, no computers, pure artistic gold!
cept for it's written by the founder of disco and an electronic music giorgio moroder
This is LIVE! Donna Summer was the real deal. Requiscat in Pacem.
Computers are instruments like any other. Stop being dumb.
💯💯💯💯💯
And no auto tune.
Love this performance. Especially the last few minutes, where she showed us all her powerful and magnificent range. Miss you Donna ❤
Never seen this live performance before. It is fabulous! I don't think she ever performed this song or any of her songs exactly the same way twice.
RIP to a lady I always had a big crush on since I was a kid in 70's.

Her voice is amazing:) It soothes your soul.
Can't tell you how many times I made love with this song. The original long version. The most sensuous song ever made. RIP beautiful lady.
That was why she stopped singing it live. It was getting out hand with the audience
Kelly Rowland needs to play Donna Summer in her movie when they make a movie for her.
Yes, good idea, she's the one who can approach the look and feeling of Donna.
I do agree
She already said she wants to do it . It's in the works.
@@romerjusu3804 Wait REALLY?!
Absolutely I know Kelly will do Donna Justice 💗💗💗🔥🔥🔥✨
Wonderful show! Very beautiful and talented singer, amazing vocalist, and those dancers... Waouh! Flawless performance ! I mean i felt that kiss at 1'12.🥰🥰 And that dance at 1'32, how sensual it is, and the dancer is not even touching her!
Donna Summer, you'll be forever missed!
It was her look as well as her music that captivated us back in 1975. I was 13! Still have the 45 in mint condition.
Keep that 45 .
Dejas un gran vacío Donna, muy difícil de remplazar. MI admiración por siempre.
Let a great place. Our admiration forever!
No one better!!
This is why she holds the title of "The First Lady of Love"
the love at first sight never ends with Donna !!!!
Donna my love, you have and always will be my goddess. RIP Donna just wish I'd have seen you perform live, now I'll have to wait till my time comes. Love to love you baby xxx
Diva total! A referência. Fluída. Até hoje não há como não ficar completamente contagiado. E, as demais da atualidade não causam esse efeito.
Perfect Comment 👏
Thank you Endless Donna! That"s me, the female dancer, hair pulled back, with Wyetta, Robert & Steve! This is the first time I've seen the video since the recording! A blast from the past! If any of you have that one, I would really love to see it. That was my first pro job, the Midnight Special, the second. A Wow moment on this Sunday morning!
Thank you for sharing that experience with all of us on RUclips.
I saw Donna Summer live a few times - she was the consummate artist.

Donna should have performed this version in her concerts!!! unfortunately, she rarely perform this song --
It’s because ppl went crazy and tried to get her on stage when she sang this song…one time they chased her into her trailer. Donna Summer left use with amazing classic songs! She’s a legend 🕊
Natural sensuality in a great performer, one of the best !
how sad to lose such a talent.loved her.i went on the beer the minute i heard the bad news.r.i.p donna.
Remember Donna was the greatest female singer in whole world in the 70´s. Even Madonna was supossed to be the "White Donna".
But madonna dont have a vocal
Eddio PinaR
For Madonna to even consider coming close to Donna she would have to seriously reinvent herself
Madonna never had as much soul
Madonna couldn't even sing background vocals here!! She could maybe work with dancers and choreographers, that's all.
And in the 80s. She rose in fame in mid 70s but continued throughout 80s.
Also, because you mentioned Madonna, when people in early 80s listened in the radio Madonna's first songs, they thought she was... Donna Summer!
ANYONE who is a vocal performer who sings should study THIS performance!!! #awemazing
She was something else , no other female singer can be better, so sorry she is not with us , loved all her music so much.

You ain't NEVER LIED!! BLACK IS MOST DEFINITELY BEAUTIFUL.... AND MS. SUMMER WAS ONE OF OUR MOST BEAUTIFUL!! May her soul be at PEACE!!
I love the end of the song, it feels like she really loves gospel song, that she can show what she really likes to sing.
She was born to make music, and she died for her to remember.
R.I.P. Donna

This performance was in 1976, not 78. She did appear on the show in 1978, but sang "Last Dance", "I Feel Love", "Heaven Knows" on that appearance.
