- Today's video shows me playing Alnmouth Village Golf Club Club alnmouth was established in 1869 making it the oldest 9 hole links in England. The course was designed by the famous Scottish golfer Mungo Park, winner of the 1874 Open Championship at Musselburgh. He was also the club's first professional/greenkeeper.
There are plenty of challenges to be had here, from the undulating fairways which complicate otherwise straightforward club use from the tee, to the tricky, hard-to-read greens that threaten to play havoc with your short-game. And although it is only a nine-hole course, there are other tees so it can be played as an eighteen-hole for those who wish to.
The view from that seventh tee is spectacular with the beach, Alnmouth Bay, the Coquet Island all visible. Like other coastal courses it's open to the wind, adding to the challenge.

Seriously. Look at the deals for the Dormy House at Alnmouth Golf course (Foxton). Play Alnmouth, Bamburgh, Dunstonburgh and Sea Houses.
I presume the other course you played was Warkworth.
The course look,s great but I do not drive now so cannot get there
Liam the truth about the little house on the prairie on the M62 ….. A geological fault beneath the farmhouse meant it was more practical for engineers to leave it rather than blast through and destroy it.” And he added: “Outside the noise is relentless but inside it's as peaceful and cosy as any farmhouse.” from Rugby Golf Club a little gem in the Midlands.
I was a member there for 15 years fantastic course rarely closed and like playing on your household mats. The island is the Coquet Island, great to view puffins birds.
As you said the best time to play is in the summer when the grass is burned off it’s fantastic.
When it’s windy it’s a great test of golf.

G'day Liam, long-time viewer, first-time commenter. Firstly, thank you for your content, it caught my eye one day noticing the comradery between Mr Barlow and yourself. I love the banter that seems to be full of good advice. I cannot play due to physical shortcomings and your videos make me feel like I am there, you are talking to the masses but it truly feels you are talking to me. Regarding the debate Starbucks V Cosco I've not tried either, we have a chain here called MuzzBuzz and I have never bothered with it. Home is where the heart is and the cheap but cheerfull coffee. We stayed in Alnmouth just after the first lockdown and fell in love with the place, I’ve been visiting and playing the 9 hole course every year every since it’s absolutely brilliant. I suspect you will be playing Warkworth next, keep playing the 9 hole course it makes fantastic viewing

The other course that sits above it is Foxton Hall a great course, played it a number of times when stationed near by at Boulmer in the RAF many moons ago, plus a bit further north another 18 hole classic course at Dunstanburgh Castle designed by James Braid if the wind blows hang onto your hat...😊

Liam, you are seriously the best and my favourite golf content creator on RUclips. It's real. I love the fact you play golf course's that every person can access. They are ripper looking course's also. I'm assembling a list of British course's you have featured and I'm planning a trip from Australia to play as many as I can. Can't wait. Nothing wrong with a 9 hole course either. Sometimes it's all you need.
