This is what I wanted to know. There's conflicting info online with regards to whether it's really necessary to upgrade. The lag with 8GB is nuts sometimes.
I just realized the other day my laptop is a i3 1st gen and I've editied on it for 3 years it's damn slow but gets the job done.. my only issues are exporting. Rendering works fine.. anyway planning to get a RTX 3050 one....
@@Treel but I mean if your cpu isn't quick enough then too much ram can be wasted as the cpu won't be able to process it quick enough. So maybe try a 16gb and then a 32gb and see if it's worth the extra money for the 32
I have a Go pro hero 9 and have been wanting to get Premiere Pro video editing software. Want it for my skiing and snowboarding videos which are about 2 to 3 minutes in length. Is there a difference in the quality of footage if one upgrades from 8GB of RAM to 16GB of RAM on their PC?
No, Ram won't affect video quality just the speed of the software etc. It's worth checking out this popular video about editing GoPro footage on premiere pro though! ruclips.net/video/fNrKv45nEzQ/видео.html
I have one question, i have a old cpu : a fx8350 8 cores at 4.5Ghz and 2x4Go of DDR3 with the speed of 1866mhz (in dual oc) and I pretty much lagging with premiere pro. If I buy a 2x8Go ddr3 with the speed of 1866mhz (total of 24Go) should I Will have no more lags ?
I wish I could answer this but I have limited knowledge of computer specs.. I know that CPU makes the biggest difference. Then the Ram and then the GPU. Sometimes if the CPU isn’t quick enough then it gets to a point where extra ram can’t really help. On the Adobe premiere website they have a section that shows computer requirements so I’d take a look there
I have laptop with Intel i7 9th gen cpu with rtx 2060 gpu and 16gb ddr4 ram and 1tb ssd... is this enough for 4k 60fps video editing on premiere pro..??

That will be because you have a fast cpu. Cpu is the main thing that effects speed. But for those with a slower cpu experiencing lag, more ram can slightly take the edge off
I having ah doubt. My lap is i5 8th gen. With 8gb ram. 4gb in inbuilt and 4gb ram i inserted. My lap is sooooooo slow. So lag. What if. I remove the 4gb and insert the 16gb ram.will it be speed up my lap
DEPENDS WHAT YOUR BUDGET IS, AND WHAT KIND OF VIDEO EDITING YOU DO. I HAVE A SURFACE LAPTOP 2, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, QUAD CORE I5. I EDIT 4K ON 1/2 OR 1/4 PREVIEW AND IT RUNS PRETTY SMOOTH. IT TAKES AGES TO RENDER THOUGH. I'VE JUST GOT A DELL 3670 WITH A 6 CORE I5, AND 16GB RAM, AND I'LL BE DOING MY FIRST PROJECT ON THAT NEXT WEEKEND. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE HOW IT GOES. THE LAPTOP HAS BEEN GREAT, THOUGH IT'S NOT REALLY POWERED ENOUGH FOR EDITING, IT GETS THE JOB DONE AND IS AN ALL ROUND FANTASTIC LEPTOP (MINUS THE LACK OF PORTS)
@@clockworkrooster2773 Very Interesting. Thank you for sharing that. I have a Sony a6400 and I do vlogs from time to time .. i want to edit the videos in 4k. The laptop I have now takes forever to render, it crashes my laptop no less than 4 times during post production and it has 4GB of RAM 😖
@@case1883 Oh wow! You edit 4k with just 4GB of RAM? That's insane! You'd see a huge performance jump even going up to 8GB tbh. Does it have to be a laptop? Or would a desktop do?
@@MichaelBlackOfficial I know right, it takes a while to edit in there. I would prefer a laptop to be honest, something's that's portable would be epic for me
I’m it sure what you mean exactly but I’m pretty sure that would give the exact same result. I don’t think it matters how many sticks there are, just the overall amount

This is what I wanted to know. There's conflicting info online with regards to whether it's really necessary to upgrade. The lag with 8GB is nuts sometimes.
Yeah it can be very annoying! Remember though that the main culprit of low speed and lag will be the cpu itself
Ya
@@ONITMedia what processor are you using in this video? I know RAM is important, but is the processor also as important?

Which one is more important for editor? Upgrade ram or upgrade gpu?
ram then the cpu
yahya mt is 8gb ram nowaday still enough for 1080p editing until next 3-5 years?
I'd say CPU then RAM then GPU. The GPU is only used on certain tasks when video editing so it's not as important as people think
