For people who wonder why they can't see as heavy deformation through tessellation scale option alone, you can increase the "Height Range" setting, by double clicking on the Base Material node and looking for the Height parameters below Roughness.
Thanks for posting this tip! I forgot to mention this in the tutorial. Very sorry for the confusion.
Such an underrated tutorial
Thanks glad you liked the tutorial
In version 13.1, a new connecting node “Portal” has appeared: now there is no need to draw long lines through the entire graph, it is enough to place portal points near the necessary nodes and assign them the same identifiers. The result is a transmitter/receiver pair. It's great!!!
There is doted line with sobel node whereas all other nodes are working fine.
Very cool but when was the Vector Warp frame added along with its content? It wasn't there at the end of part 6.
I'm sorry. The vector warp was adding in the 2017 builds. I think I went back and tried to cover it as it was added right after I recorded the video.
Hey there! I am thoroughly enjoying this tutorial however since the beginning I have had problems getting the height maps to display properly in the previewer. At the max tesselation amount and scale and even maxed height map values I can only see very slight variations in the height. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere?
It could be the normal intensity was too low. You need to have normal and height for the tessellation shader to work. However, the scale setting on the material should be the driver for the displacment
I wonder is there any way to rotate those nails, for example if I add a # facture to nails, how can I randomly rotate them?
I think, unless I'm missing something, that you don't mean 'extrapolated'. What kind of extrapolation is occurring? Do you mean 'extracted'?
Yes, I mean extracted : ) Sorry for the confusion on this. I was just tripping over my words.
Hello, the Tessellation scale dosn't react as much as you do in the tutorial. Is this a new update of some sort? or am I missing a setting somewhere?
There shouldn't be an issue with the update. I tested the scene in the latest version of Designer. Can you post here and I can provide better support. forum.allegorithmic.com/index.php/board,38.0.html
Thank you for answering. There isn't a problem, I just thought it was weird that I had to crank up the numbers to get the same result.
Check the Height scale settings on your base material, this was my issue
I am not able to use the Normal Sobel node, as the output of the node will not be accepted into the normal input of the Base Material node.
This is happening because the graph is in material mode. You can kit the 1 key to enter standard mode and it will allow you to connect. support.allegorithmic.com/documentation/display/SDDOC/Link+Creation+Modes
Love this tutorial but i lost my line of my wood patterns and i dont know what i did wrong ..
Sorry for the confusion. What part in the video did you get lost?
There is an iaaue with normal sobel node i can't make a connection with base material
You just need to have the graph creation mode set to Standard. You can hit 1 on the keyboard to set it to standard. docs.substance3d.com/sddoc/link-creation-modes-102400046.html#:~:text=Substance%20Designer%20allows%20you%20to%20work%20in%203,clicking%20on%20the%20icon%20%2C%20or%20with%20shortcuts.
hey there loving the tutorial. just run into a problem where when I switch back to my planks graph the nodes appear blank apart from gradient linear 1 and histogram range at the beginning of the graph resulting in a blank material. was wondering what to do. had a texture with nails and holes before this. thanks.
nevermind it was an issue with my input parameters
No problem. Glad you found the solution.
Why are there holes for the nails?
Just to add a little more depth. It helps to show the nail embedded into the wood.
thanks for these lessons , but as a beginner those are too advance or im stupid :D
This is a more advanced lesson. Please check Substance Academy and start with our beginner course for Substance Designer. That will be easier and slower paced.
@@Substance3D i 've already done. i meant this transition just so hard but thanks anyway.
What is radius in Ambient occlusion?
Radius just controls the spreading of the AO.
@@Substance3D I get it thanks for replying
