    Would i be able to create such complex texture without this awesome tutorial series?
    I wood knot.

    I like how you explained how the gradient dynamic works, that way we can really understand why you're using this note and how to incorporate it into our own projects. Thanks for another great tutorial! :)

    I wood knot be able to make good substances without great tutorials like these!

    The explanation you gave for the gradient map and specifically why we are using it and what exactly it is doing behind the scenes was really useful. I speak for myself but it would have been better to replicate that method throughout the tutorial series (especially earlier on) so that we are learning WHY we should use a certain node in a certain situation in order to replicate it for our own substances further down the line. It's easy to copy someones actions within software, but I find myself focusing less on why I'm doing something and more on replicating your actions, which doesn't necessarily stick. Each node would only need this extensive explanation once. Great tutorial series so far however.

    In case anyone is having trouble with the Shift + Alt yellow circle, just hold Alt and left click it (Version 10.2.0)

    Hey, loving the tutorial and following it step by step while making sure I understand all you do. What bothers me is that I am not really sure I would be able to think of the solutions (like how to make the wood knots) myself. Sure, this is the day 3 of my experience with Substance, but still - is there a way you come up with these "crazy" combinations of nodes, or is it "just" experience?

      Yeah, I struggle with that as well. It can be hard to know what the solution is. What helps me is to look at reference images and then study it to break out simplistic shapes and patterns. I start from there and build my way up. For me, that has helped a lot.

    Why do your nodes automatically update when a change has been made behind them in the chain, but I have to double click to get it to compute the new result?

    Why do you use splatter node instead of shape splatter node? Is it about the version of the software?

      This video is 2 years old and Shape Splatter didn't exist back then ;)

    Is "Exposed in SBSAR" the same thing as "Output Computation?"

    • @Substance3D
      @Substance3D  2 года назад

      Exposed in SBSAR on a graph means it's visible to other applications when opening the SBSAR. We set it to False to hide "helper graphs" that don't need to be used elsewhere outside of Designer.
      Output Computation, i'm actually not sure, I can't find where you saw this? It might be an older feature we got rid of.

      @@Substance3D i couldn't find output computation when it was brought up in the tutorial, so i figured it was taken out and exposed in sbsar was the replacement

      Usually you don't have to mess with this stuff anymore these days, at least when you're not building complex stuff.
