No one has been able to improve that fast since Musty taught Voice-over Pete. :)

Ye lol who said that u need 10,000 hours

Man it’s mind boggling watching this it gave me so much nostalgia tbh. My journey from Plat to GC1 is just filled with all the stuff in this video he covered all those long nights or 6 hour straight training pack grinds were all worth it and I still want to keep pushing myself to the best of my ability and beyond that because RL is the most fun game I’ve ever played. I’m thankful that RL exists man it’s just so fun to get better at this game and remembering all the things I thought I needed to learn come up in this video really makes myself feel proud man. Love Virgo so much!
That’s what Rocket League’s all about man 👊🏼
@@Virge Wow! I really have loved your presence in the RL community and just how much you want to help others to improve. It clearly shows with the time and effort you put into this. You've become my favorite not just player but overall community members! I love that I just randomly see you actively interacting with your community on an older video. Keep killing it virge!! You're helping to keep me motivated! Hope to snag a session one day!! 😁
@@Virge @Virge Hey Virge, so uh, I was thinking about saves. Saves are just as important as shots as the opponent is also trying to score, so if you have any tips for saves or anything really, could you make a video about it? You probably won't see this but I hope you can find the time to make a video about saves as it is just as important as shots.
what rank are you now??
Plats be like no ur wrong at platinum it should be ceiling double flip reset musty breezy double tap
not all plats are like that 😔
@@ZyfoAI yessir
As a plat i can say he is right
I mean that's basically what I have to do. Plats and diamonds are much better than what he is saying tbh
Right! I’m not saying you can’t do these things at these ranks, but rather don’t NEED to! Mastering the basics will get you way further than people realize :D
Gary's kinda cracked at these training packs ngl.
My friend Gary he’s already taken and he’s cracked at rocket league ughhhhhhhhhh

No clue why he didn't mention anything about flip resets for the bronze-gold ranks
How foolish of me
Im a bit late to the game, but its awesome seeing content creators watch, support, and comment on each others content :) Youve both helped me tremendously!

When I heard it for the first time I was expecting it to be something that Fluump would sponsor 🤣😂
$160 for a controller..no thanks
Well It explodes after a while
Tip for flicks: The ball won’t flick if there’s sparks while your dribbling, if there’s no sparks then it will flick
That's a good observation but doesn't really explain how to not get sparks
@@lucassmith9246 yeah I know, not getting sparks comes down to mostly skill but a bit of luck, but I’m just saying if there’s sparks then don’t attempt a flick
it actually depends on where the ball is on your car. i can flick with sparks or no sparks
@@yumgumrumdumb6189 what sparks they talking about?
@@lilmanq7746 when you hit the ball, sparks come off your car. They are few, but they are there.
Virge your video has just gotten me from diamond to champ!! I learned grinded half flips, wave dashing just as you said, practiced double taps and car control and its gotten me here! I'm gonna continue using this vid. This is why Dignitas are very lucky to have you man, probably the best coach out there.
14:15 “Backboard defense isn’t the greatest at these levels” Everytime I go for a double tap in champ 2 there is a guy right there on the backboard waiting, or they prejump and clear it 😔.
That's so true
I feel like C2 and C3 are actually no different to GC1 right now. I mean, I get S1 GCs almost every single game and and I'm at high C2

I'm high plat, and I agree with what you said. Thanks for pointing out what strength I have and what weakness I should be working on.
This is the first useful video I see that helps my case
This is what I needed as motivation to restart my training. I love the video and has been neglecting my training but this gave me the boost I need thank you!
I am really impressed how you can judge the levels of the ranks so accuratly. I think it fits very well. For the next video you could talk more about defense. You mostly covered offense in this video. Well done sir :)
I'd say before plat : backpost rotate and positionning, Diamond : shadow defense, learn to stop ball while driving towards your goal, champ : backboard defense reads + prejump
@@ZimK230 yeah. also he had learning to dribble in diamond, which I think even golds at least have the basics of dribbling
@@thewillschrader there is a huge lack of lower rank representation here. By silver, I was learning about dribbling and aerials. I couldn't do it effectively, by I was learning it. You HAVE to understand how to aerial and dribble in gold. You don't have to be good at it, but you need to be ok at it. If you can't aerial in gold, you will be stuck. And, dribbles are just really good for control.
@@commander8625 I got out of gold by playing relaxed and w8 for the 200 open goal opportunities, no need to learn dribbles or even aerials for that
@@commander8625 I don’t think I ever dribbled in gold lmao basic aerials maybe
Really a good and helpful video, as always. Quick note: i think that another skill that a plat to diamond segment should learn is "how to Shadow defense". #BigBrainSquad
I totally agree. Since most plats dont know how to dribble it becomes really easy when you properly defend the opponents
Accurate for threes at least. In ones it’s a different scale. In gold 1v1s People learned how to flick, now in diamond my opponents flip reset, wavedash dribble, and all the other fancy stuff.
Great video Virge! Very in depth descriptions of everything for each rank. Maybe do one for rotations at each rank? That would be tougher but would be insane
Around 12:34 you can also hop into the pillars map and just run figure eights, I forget where I saw that but it helped me a lot, you can do it with no air roll, holding air roll, holding boost, or a combination of that

Guys i have a question? What is the name of the song in the intro
@@TechsyfiEdits idk but it’s sick
@@lincolnbridge5237 that's not always the case. I only got the game like a month ago, got a fair few casual games and a few free play sessions under my belt and found myself in silver 3 div 3, after my 10 placement matches, which I think is 1 or 2 divisions below gold. Just gotta get a feel for the basics for a few weeks and you should be fine
@@Mhxqu3 agreed, i’m now platinum after playing for a few months and i think if you start off playing casual and free play you can go into your first competitive games and get a good rank (btw there are 4 divisions so after silver 3 div 4 you will get to gold)

Great vid. Really opened my eyes. I’m gc 1 off mastering the basics and game sense, but I need to take more risks and learn to master more stuff.
Fast aerials alone took me from plat to diamond. I’ve been high diamond/low champ for 4 or 5 seasons now just from basic mechanics and positioning. I’m just learning some of this stuff, hopefully it’ll take me to gc soon. Great video!

Coaching will take you by the hand but this kind of work will keep players interested to the game in order to seek coaching. Keep up the good work, you deserve many more subs and community attention.
Picked up the controller. Looks awesome!!!! First video I’ve seen of yours. Instant sub worthy! Keep the videos rolling

Absolutely loved every second of this video, one of the best rocket league videos I’ve ever watched, so informative and filled with tons of detail every player needs to know. Insanely well done bro
Probably the best video of its kind I’ve seen, thanks Virge and Gary!
Thanks! I needed something like this to gage what I needed to work on. I got to a point where I didn't know outside of positioning and strengthening what I already knew, what I needed to work on.
The very first mechanics I was taught was recovery ones and dribbling and flicking on top of my car, I think it is incredibly important to learn a tough mechanic like that because my car control got reallly good very fast. I’m almost 500 hours now with d3 div 4 in 1v1 so I say I improved pretty fast at least compared to some other players
I think that rotations and games sense become a big part of the game in ranks such as champ and gc not just at ssl.
Just bought that controller from your link, excited to try it!
These packs are so helpful man! I'm stuck in platinum and find myself missing certain angles on open nets, this helps a lot.
I’m just going to say this now virge...This video and packets are literally just what I’ve been looking for to get past Diamond....I’m going into a deep training regime with this one video :)
Uhm excuse me.. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't read my mind.

I forgot how great virge videos really are. Haven’t watched them in a while and didn’t even realize I was until I went to hit the subscribe button and wondered why I wasn’t earlier on. I remember commenting on your rotation video with the bean zones in front of the cars😂 I thought I already subscribed then and I was surprised to still see that button available. Every time I watch one of his videos I replay his intro like 10 times, its so🔥
Great vid man. Going to use the grand champ training pack to solidify my mechanics and try and hit ssl.
Great vid Virge, as always.
“Golds can’t keep up with fast balls.”
My gold 3 lobbies: ...
yeah, I'm in gold and I stg when I was playing in the tournament the other day it was so fast paced.
@@leejaygaming9099 Just put a diamond or higher player in that lobby... you just understand when you are placed in a lower ranked lobby... the speed, the height, the consistency. Lower ranks whiff more as the speed increases thus it is lower by definition
if we are talking about fast as in everyone car is so fricking fast and did not stop boosting at all and keep cutting rotation to get to the ball, yeah sure they are fast, i feel it when i play with my friend in mid low rank.
.
Higher level is actually "slower", atleast till champion, everyone try to read opponent move, try to read bounces to get a good touch, try to wait for opponent to make a mistake, slow down the play for teammates to get back and get some boost, etc, so yeah, fast is not everything in RL
my gold lobbies: saves ball and does 5 flip resets, air dribbles for like 6 seconds and does a musty and breezy double tap
Honestly, he was talking about how if you just put shots on target there’s a high chance they’ll go in. And I was sitting there thinking about the last game I was in where 2 of 3 times we scored were empty nets and the winning shot was when my teammate boomed that ball down field and one of their guys got back to it and was going to get the block but I managed to fly in there and tip it to the other half of the net before he could connect. And the opponent had two quality arial goals from passes off of walls.
well finally caught up to and upload
if ur reading this virge have a nice day
Congrats on 100k subs Virge!
Great video Virge been following you for quite some time and you helped me out a lot again this video was full of tips i can use to get better thank you so much and keep up the great work
I don't want to sound like the stereotypical "GC in plat guy" but the backboard defense starts to feel somewhat consistent in about C2 rank.
*700 hours in, reached diamond 3, have recently realized that I delayed my improvement due to not focusing basics. I was better at double resets than consistent shooting with good placement...*
Meanwhile I have 450 hours and I'm diamond 2 and I can't air dribble. I was in like silver doing Ariels, half flips, and wave dashes and now those are the most advanced mechanics I use
For me the opposite, can't to any spectacular mechanics like resets, ceilings or useful air dribbles but still I'm solidly staying on champ 2. Guess I have a very fast gameplay, good rotation and positioning, oh and god like recoveries which just leads to faster gameplay
@@henning_jasper On the same boat. Having 3k hours into this game I still can't say I handle the basics as well as they should be done and certainly not these more complex mechanics. Still hit GC at season 14 and now at C2.
What I want to say to those who think mechanics in this video (on their rank) are way too hard for them: There is a lot more to the game than mechanics and you can get really high in ranks with very poor overall mechanics! These other skills being rotation, positioning (game sense) and recoveries
Best intro in the RL community hands down! Love the vids, hope they return soon. Best wishes!
Thank you for this. I ran through the first pack twice before playing and I had a noticeable difference. Time to put the work in 😤
Virge pls do a video on consistency
just grind whatever you want to be consistent with
Just practice 40 hours a day 😉
@@sonbui4965 yeah
Hey Virge! Great video! Just something that I could be completely wrong about, but I think you can push the lower ranks a little harder. I am in the plat 3-diamond 1 range, and while I could be very wrong, things like half flips, aerial control, and wave dashes and air rolling I think should start to be worked on a little earlier than recommended, around mid-to high-gold. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the video and I will hope to really push for mid to high diamond this season, using a lot of your videos as help. Been watching for a while but today u got my subscription.
Hey thanks! I totally agree that lower ranks CAN do more. However I wanted this video to focus on what was NEEDED for each rank. If you master the basics you’ll get a lot further than you’d think :)
@@Virge shoot i never expected you to see this, much less reply. highlight of my rocket league career, and it's not even in game
Only started playing Rocket league last year, found this really helpful thanks !!
I'm in plat 3 rn and the things that I have the most trouble with are aerials off the wall, both on defense in the form of clears, and on offense in the form of powerful shots/hits, so it'd be really helpful if you could make a video about these types of aerials
Even if I do end up learning any of these it wont matter if my internet speeds are -50000TB

Bro, wth is this! It’s so good, I never thought I would find a video like this with everything like this, wow, I am really impressed 😂😂
I started playing with ball cam on from the start it really does help I found it wierd when people in bronze and silver while I was there always said they couldn't drive in ball cam
ok but like, how do i get from diamond to champ?
All about consistency man, if you are solo queueing, try to see (if you are playing 2’s) the first and second man as the second and third man in 3’s. If you are back, your teammate is trying to get back for defence, Wait untill he is behind you, and so on.
Just work on your positioning, rotation, and the mechanics that virge mentioned.
you don't, and i dont
virge didnt want to show us secrets for pros because he was afraid
i just tried out that training pack for plat-diamond. i always felt like my mechanics weren’t that great, but the pack showed me what i can do and what i can work on. bonus that it’s really fun too lol
This will help me out a lot, thx for the info and stuff
ssl should be going outside its a really difficult mechanic to learn at that level but if you do that you could touch some grass
Plat to diamond: You should learn areals
People in diamond: flip reseting all over The place
Me a diamond: ye Ye im gonna learn to boost upwards while they are doing Thier shit
actually that's really good, it's better to master a mechanic than barely being able to do multiples one

As soon as he said "This game is fun throughout" I knew this was all a lie!
Such a good vid Virge no wonder you got ya boys winning again!
Amazing video, thank you sm Virge ❤️
I feel like Virge is underestimating all of the ranks. He kind of grouped them together too much. I think that bronze to gold should be learning half flips, wavedashes, wall play and maybe even some basic aerial car control. I'm plat 2 and I have mastered everything I just listed and everything else I said. Nowadays all platniums know these things already and thats why this video kind of disappointed me. I figured if anyone would know these things it would be Virge. I hope he sees this and maybe investigates further in the topic of low ranked players.
I can already tell you that in bronze to gold all u need to know how to do is light aerial practise and on target shots and learn to defend a bit and thats all u need

Great video bro really helped me out and now I now what I’m doing tomorrow :)
I love the vids man hope you can reach 1 mil one day
Hey Virge. A few times you introduced a new mechanic, but then went on to state players ought to have had previously experience or at-least have started to learn, and that by this rank players ought already be improving. Perhaps you should do another video charting mechanic progression across all ranks; it seemed like you had much more to add, but couldn't in the confines of a list.
I'd really like to know at what rank you think players should begin learning new things for the very first time, how they should progress, when to step up the difficulty, at what rank mechanic's become prevalent in-game, a ranked timeframe for mechanical competency, and what mastery looks like.
Really helpful video, helped me improve my game as a new player.
really good video and congrats on 100k you're the first rocket league youtuber I subbed to
Beautifully made video. Earned my like.
This is one of the two videos that are the most accurate about this game imo. The other is Sunless one that he talks about a "behaviour cycle in RL". I am for the past months hard stuck at C1 and see for the first time a necessity to learn EVERYTHING. In the below ranks I learned stuff because I was looking for a differential from my peers but now I feel very clearly the amount of things that are dragging me behind. One thing tho as plat I felt this necessity for learning speed flip. Couldnt. As diamond I tried once again and Didnt happen aswell and now at Champion I dont care at all for the speed flip. Guess i will worry about at GC who knows...
Congrats on 100K!!!! You deserve it
Great video man. Can’t wait to try out these training packs
Woah! :O that covered up pretty much everything. however you should havde mentioned bump-recovery say drifting ect. And a bit regarding ground dribble setups (ball/-car cam) perhaps mentioning hitbox and what surface is hardest. That being said.. this video is one of the best i have seen in a LONG WHILE
been frustrated with the game. currently unplugging for the week while visiting my parents, but im so motivated to improve when i go home. imma go back and work on all the things i shouldve trained while i was diamond. ive finally gotten back to c3 after learning air roll left and dropping to d3 (lol). hoping to get to gc
congrats on 100k!
I have 2 friends who are high GC's and I am C2-C3. My friends don't have most mechanics. They can just dribble ball confidentialy, play at very fast pace with very accurate shot placement, rotation, and just basic flick (nothing like breeze, musty flick like crazy flicks or flashy moves), and they can dibble well and fast for their rank so basically they have basics perfected except flashy stuff.
Makes me really think if I need to learn all those flicks and stuff Virge mentions in Video for Champ now.
