True story :)
@K MB Precisely, yet that is exactly what the "green fanatics" are proposing. The fact they want to cut out fossil fuels long before there is a suitable replacement, tells you all you need to know. They have their heads you know where.
Well if I had an electric car wouldn't that mean I had a whole lot of batteries with power stored in them ? Now how could that possibly be useful when the power is out ? Hmmmmmm. I'd still rather have the hybrid , which by its basic design generates its own power with a gasoline generator , and will continue to charge a battery. Which once again I can use for power. What if instead you had a nuclear submarine ? That's electric boat , I heard they could power a whole city . You figured out how to get on the internet right ? 😂
@K MB That's true but far less of a problem with the lithium chemistry. They aren't building electric cars with lead acid batteries anymore. And there is some self-heating going on depending on use , that wakes them up. Fact is , an electric car is more likely to be able to drive off , below 20 degrees Fahrenheit , than a gasoline car with a combustion engine , still using the old lead acid battery type. Simply because of the battery.

"Rolling Blackouts" means they turn the power off in one place for a few hours, then turn it back on there and off in another place. That is how it is supposed to work (and how it is apparently working - correctly - in Abilene).
Why are these poor people without power? Did the ice knock it out or something? I'm just trying to understand. We live in the great lakes region and we have always had power even during winter storms. Those poor people!!
We are used to the Hurricanes and Tornadoes. I've lived in my current home in North Texas for 17 years and the power only went down once that I noticed before all this and that for only about 15 minutes. I've lost count how many times in the past few days it's gone down, but seems stable now.

There’s not much snow to shovel
9:21 I've lived in the north for nearly 50 years and I've never heard such an understandable and memorable explanation of precipitation types.
Honestly, owning a generator has come in handy so many times up here in Canada
(I also understand some people don't have the funds sadly)
What is the best generator to invest in?
Or the ability to even use one if I DID have the money. Most of us live in apartments so generators are not feasible
@@xx3astmanxx928 exactly...
they can be had at harbor freight for 400 us dollars a big one at 8kwatts. said most of the people in the us and canada cant manage money
The southern states have to look to their Northern Neighbors for ways to secure proper energy in case this happens again, I pray that it gets better fast
Rainy M once in hundred year storm is going to happen again much sooner then another 100 years.
We practice winterization in the Northeast: thermal, pipes, windmills, etc and rarely have any issues in sub zero temps. Yes, southern states can learn a lot from us. Prayers for all of you, keep warm and stay safe. 🙏
Texas politicians have thrown regulations to the wind. Same thing in Houston floods when zoning didn't prevent building in floodplain. Feel sorry for all of you without warmth.
there are a lot of northern states on rolling blackouts
@K MB our wind turbines in Michigan still work in freezing weather.
Not 2.9 people, 2.9 HOUSEHOLDS.
so far the big contingency plan has been hit the shutdown button.
Like they've never seen winter weather before.
Where are the leaders you people voted for🤔??????????????
Companies are ones responsible for this mess
The leader we voted for cant do anything about this unfortunately, although a man by the name of Andy Beal owns all energy produced in North Texas. He has real POWER. Yet hes no where to help. We should find him and hold him accountable
This is NOT Democrats problem!
Where was Trump ? He PROMISED INFRASTRUCTURE REPAIRS! ALL LIES & Reality Show Politics! He DID NOTHING for US!
Too bad you have to be in this problem, but in the upper midwest, we have this all winter. You have hardly any snow.
We feel ya Texans from Maryland, most people here cant drive in the snow anyways
A lot of Te ans are poor drivers in snow. Which makes it bad even if somebody has power 50 miles away? We all feel for them. Was once without power for 4 days after tropical storm. But it was not freezi g
People got money for drugs alcohol and restaurants. But can’t afford a $400 generator. Sad Texas people.
Oh I agree 100%
If that disabled vehicle was up here in Maine they would be three cars around it trying to help! Help others it will keep you warm.
That's normal down here but you know... Covid.
Lost power yesterday 2am until 11:30pm and then this morning 3:00am-9:00am. I finally ate a decent breakfast and hot coffee. I live in the apartment where everything is electric.

ERCOT said electricity costs going to increase although I haven't had power for 3 days. Taken out of PG&E playbook.
Living green off the grid is GREAT.
Yup I off grid also..
@@latymz what false narrative?

They really aren't prepared for something like this in Texas. I think they should use more than just the national guard troops in this case. They can send troops in from anywhere they can find them. They would be glad to help.
@@devinesent7696 Yeah go to Colorado where there is heat! Or Arizona!
Texas is now a 3rd world country after a couple of days of snow lol
What state are you from? Because Texas isnt used to this much winter weather. Our beaches have snow on it and our wind power is frozen which is pir primary energy source. Texas didnt prepare for this cause it's nevr had weather where the entire state was in the Ice Age. I mean some New York Apartments dont have A/Cs cuz theh don't expect it to go above 90. And so if they randomly had a 120 degree heatwave people would be melting. You can't make fun of a situation that no one was prepared for just because the climate your in is used to it.
@@SniperGamingHD1 so what you’re saying that Texas doesn’t know how to prepare for emergencies? The EPA warned Republicans about the dangers of the change in future weather patterns. That includes this type of event. But those leaders don’t want to believe in that and now you’re seeing their failure in leadership. Texas is a failure and you can’t fix it unless you admit that.
@@chrisv1251 The entire state isn't a failure just because of an unforseen blizzard. Not to mention Obama is slightly responsible as he took away some needed coal plants long ago and replaced it with some wind turbines that completely froze. From what I see it multiple figures failed the Texan citizens but the Texan Citizens themselves aren't failures. Many of us have back up generators and other precautions and most deaths are due to people needing electricity to actually live like Oxygen machines and stuff..Texans are tough people but you cant call an entire state a failure over that. That's like calling Katrina Victims or Harvey Victims Failures for nor evacuating when some just couldn't.
Yo boss ... That aint a snow shovel
BLACKOUTS IN OKC ALSO YET CHESAPEAKE ARENA AND NBA THUNDER STILL HAD GAME ON 16th PEOPLE WITHOUT WATER BECAUSE OF BLACKOUTS WHY
Electric pumps move the water around.
You're all following the same suit... Millions out of electricity how long the snow is going to last.... why don't you get out there and knock on doors and ask how people are really doing ....how are they keeping warm.... how are they surviving much more interesting.... no but everybody has to follow everybody else and nothing new in the contents

We need to go after ERCOT.

~~~The Shovel still has the sticker on it.. Not much shoveling going on there..
probably kept the receipt and taking it back ;) I worked with a guy in IL who came to work without a tie, found out he had to go onsite and needed one - bought it across the str at the woodfield mall, worked at the site all week and late friday afternoon came back to the office - walked across the street and returned it. True story :)
Why are all the street lights on?!
Stop and think about what kind of trouble you would be in, if there was only ELECTRIC vehicles.
@K MB Precisely, yet that is exactly what the "green fanatics" are proposing. The fact they want to cut out fossil fuels long before there is a suitable replacement, tells you all you need to know. They have their heads you know where.
Well if I had an electric car wouldn't that mean I had a whole lot of batteries with power stored in them ?
Now how could that possibly be useful when the power is out ? Hmmmmmm.
I'd still rather have the hybrid , which by its basic design generates its own power with a gasoline generator , and will continue to charge a battery.
Which once again I can use for power.
What if instead you had a nuclear submarine ? That's electric boat , I heard they could power a whole city .
You figured out how to get on the internet right ? 😂
@K MB
That's true but far less of a problem with the lithium chemistry.
They aren't building electric cars with lead acid batteries anymore.
And there is some self-heating going on depending on use , that wakes them up.
Fact is , an electric car is more likely to be able to drive off , below 20 degrees Fahrenheit , than a gasoline car with a combustion engine , still using the old lead acid battery type.
Simply because of the battery.
Look at the bright side. Your food in the fridge wont spoil in this weather event
Many have run out of food
Yes it will the freezer not running is warmer than the outside air, get your frozen food into a cooler and stick it outside if it’s starting to thaw
50hrs no electricity yet. But neighborhood across the street been fine. Half my neighborhood have electricity. So I checked surrounding neighborhoods and is the same. Who determines who keeps electricity is what I like to know. PUB electric company wont answer my question. A rollout be nice at this point.
it's the widespread depth of the cold, not a bit of snow. ;)
We wish it was just a “small dusting of snow”. It’s layers of frozen rain sleet and snow and it’s heavy on our powerlines and our systems.
We are used to the Hurricanes and Tornadoes. I've lived in my current home in North Texas for 17 years and the power only went down once that I noticed before all this and that for only about 15 minutes. I've lost count how many times in the past few days it's gone down, but seems stable now.
People need to realize that our power and water supplies are fragile. You can't count on it. Even if you have propane and oil, sometimes the delivery guy can't get to you. You can't blame the government. You gotta think for yourself and help your neighbors.
