dan is so so funny, and the way he admits he’s feeling stressed is so refreshing and real.
He’s great on camera isn’t he!!
❤
Despite his sass, 😜, Dan seems like such a kind and encouraging rider! No wonder his horses do so well!
He is epic, I also love his style of teach! Very encouraging but also no nonsense!
I loved this so much! What an amazing teacher Dan is and you did so well. Being 5ft 1 I have always ridden ponies and so enjoyed watching you adapt to riding that beautiful horse ❤ Thank you for such a great vid! Brilliant ❤
Joy showing why a good school horse is worth their weight in gold 😂 You did great, Meg!
Amen to that
Wow, I adore Dan. I could actually see him instilling confidence in the two horses he rode. Such a wonderful presence. And he didn’t let you back off when you wanted to
Dan is so encouraging, I love when he said “I wouldn’t send you around this course if I didn’t trust the horse” you have to trust yourself Meg! You are such a great rider and you just gotta believe in yourself
I love how he casually just said, she’s for sale😂
Literally, googling how to set up a Gofundme as we speak 😘

It would be so interesting to revisit Dan and hop back on this boy after you've ridden a few different horses over vlogmas to see how much your confidence has grown. And because Dan is so entertaining
This hit me right in the feels ❤️
As someone who have the same issues as you I could practically feel your anxiety through the screen. I think you are super brave to do this, and I also think this was very good for your recovery after the fall.
Awh thank you! I agree it really helped following the fall, this series actually came at the perfect time.
Gosh, this year's vlogmas definitely did not disappoint 😍 who else thinks Meggy should get herself a 17hh horsey 🤷🏼♀️😂
Awh thank you!! Well, Joy is positively small compared to one of the special guests coming up… 😱
@@elphick.event.ponies absolutely CANNOT wait, absolutely smashing vlogmas 🤍 if only you could ride my ex race horses 😂
Why not!
Yessss! Meg! Please get a 17hh Horse!
“Don’t stress, if you need a cup of tea we can make one” made me giggle 😂
Dan is hilarious. Well done Meg for doing a 1.10m course!
He’s so funny isn’t he!
Loved that Meg. Particularly liked that you were not afraid to say ‘I’m afraid!’ and Dan what a brilliant instructor!
You have no idea how relatable this video is for anyone climbing on a new horse! It is an incredibly humbling experience and you did fantastic! Dan was so reassuring and put you on such a solid citizen. I won't lie, I cracked up laughing when you really backed out of the double and he was like, NOPE and dragged the ground line over. Brilliant! All the props for jumping around what is actually a quite sizable course on a new horse! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for this comment, really appreciate it! I was very thankful to have Dan there on the ground with me!
You're such a lovely rider, with a lovely hand and leg that adapts so nicely to the horses you ride. Getting astride these big babies is SO good for you, it will help your scope and your eye for the future and give you more range in your riding which is such a good thing! I'm so proud of you Meg, even out of your comfort zone even so nervous and anxious you kept on and were just brilliant! Those flying changes came for you better and better, you were even getting them over the fences. Great job and I'm so looking forward to seeing you on more of these big ponies!
Such a lovely comment, thank you so much. I have really felt an improvement in my riding and confidence since filming this series to be honest, very lucky to do what I do!
Dans a genuinely lovely guy. I used to keep my horse where he used to train and he was always kind and encouraging and really gentle with his horses. Great vid!
I LOVE how he is calming you like “you doing great” and he seems so kind
We need more of Dan in your vlogs! He's hilarious 🤣
Well done for nailing the course! Super brave 🥳🥳
Yeeessss! Don't worry, I'm going to force him to have me back!
What came across to me, Meg, was breathe deeply and trust the horse to do his/her job. We’re so used to thinking we are in a position of having to manage things we forget that the horse wants to work with us and do what we want. And we get in their way because we forget to be ourselves like they are themselves.
It's beginning to feel a lot like Vlogmas 🤩🎄
Great work Meg and Dan! 👏
❤❤❤
i cried for you when you nailed the course, how incredibly brave of you meggy, amazing job! way to tackle your anxiety
Absolutely love that Dan puts so much emphasis on connecting with the horse, and giving them a chance. There's something really magic about that moment when you finally start to communicate with a horse
I don't know if it's just me but you really really suited Joy! I know you're not used to the larger horses but honestly you look made for them!
Agree - she looked really good! Maybe she should look into an ISH next time after all! She did mention a while ago thinking about a horse rather than a pony (I know both DD and Jam are over 15hh, but they're still Connies).
I agree, she sure makes this young man look perfect for her..
Pretty Boy is such a wonderful horse. Such calm, steady confidence, and athleticism. I imagine he is invaluable for bringing young riders to a new level of skill.
I guess it is Joy, not Pretty Boy! But he is Pretty for sure.
He seems to have a lovely way of teaching! You’re incredible at adjusting to completely different horses in such a short time meg, so refreshing to see you admit your nervous at times especially riding a different horse you’re not used to x
Ive had mocks all this week, and still have some left. Seeing a 1 hour video about horses from a great youtuber makes me day.
Awh thanks so much, hope the mocks have gone well! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Hope they're going well.
Love Dan's ethic and teaching style!! This made me cry when you did that Meg, epic! Sadly I can't ride due to my disability now and feel like I'm living vicariously through your videos 🥰 x
Thank you for the lovely comment! ❤❤
“Not my horses” is a fab title. Ok, Dan’s accent…..DREAMY! Horses are gorgeous. And the best quote (amongst many) “keen croissant”. I expect to hear that new phrase in the future!! 😂❤😂
There was so much amazing information in this video!! Dan was an amazing teacher. And THANK YOU Meg...for being a human being!!! You always seem so confident and perfect...was nice to see I am not the only one freaking out on a new horse! Look at what you accomplished!!! So amazing! ❤️
Thank you!! This series certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone! So much information from Dan wasn't there, I learnt loads editing it ❤
I love how calm Dan is and it makes the horse calm🤩😍😘 Well Done Meg !! What a fantastic horse you rode! Lucky You😘
I have just found your channel. It is refreshing that you are ‘normal’ and show trepidation about riding different horses that you don’t know. You are normal in the way you act too…not false with makeup and pouting at the camera. I really enjoyed this video Dan is so funny and such a good trainer too. He installs confidence.
Super impressed with this, especially considering this was the second time jumping after your fall if I heard that correctly. You did an amazing job - and honestly, I think this series will be great for your confidence as a rider! You can do so much more than you think you can! Looking forward to the other videos, it's definitely a super cool and interesting idea for vlogmas!
Thanks so much! Have already felt it really helping my riding to be honest, so luck to get these opportunities! Hope you enjoy the rest of them.
One thing an instructor told me, its your job to get the correct canter, its the horse job to get over the fence. Dont worry about striding as long as the canter is there the horse can help you.
My boss is french so this guy is very familiar to me lol
Very good advice, so hard to put into practice though isn’t it!!
@@elphick.event.ponies Tell me about it! God knows how people get that canter! Your doing epic so far tho, much better than me and we fell off at a similar time in the week!
Dan is hilarious but what a wonderful teacher! So understanding and educated! I hugely enjoyed watching this video ❤ your confidence grew so much during your last round! Seeing the difference was outstanding! Well done! Wonderful people and wonderful horses! I look forward to the next videos ❤
Joy is absolutely gorgeous!! His face markings are so perfect!
Can't wait for the rest of this year's vlogmas!!
Such a handsome boy isn't he, very lucky to ride him!
Well done Meg! It’s another level of getting out of your comfort zone, feel like riding big horses helps you lots developing like a rider yourself! Sure with sessions like these will boost your confidence and makes riding your ponies on tricky courses a little less scary! Keep up the good work and can’t wait for the rest of vlogmas🎅🏼🐎
100% a great confidence, also healthy to overcome some fears! Hope you enjoy the rest x
You can tell that mare loves her job, as does the gelding. He's so excitable. The last gelding looked after you so well 💙
This really makes me miss being a part of the equine world 😢
You did so well! What a lovely horse. I'd say we learn more watching him coach you going round. It was lovely to watch your confidence growing too after each jump. 😁
No matter how often I see it (and I've done horse jumping myself, albeit on a very low level) it's so fascinating how easily these magnificent creatures clear those human high hurdles. So much strength, elegance and skill combined. Simply a marvel.
PS: Dan's accent is so hot.
Proud of you Meg! And such an educational video, literally showed us everything and ways to help them with a green horse, experienced but keen horse and then a more nervous rider and ways to build their confidence - so interesting!
And I recon you're riding This Esme's Joey next! ☺️
I love that! ‘You don’t have to spend a fortune you just have to be a bit lucky and believe in them’ ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was by far one of the best vlogs I’ve watched in a long time. Dan has such a great attitude.
Loved this! I am such a nervous rider even more so when it comes to jumping and this has made me what to jump again. In a way it's nice to see everyone gets nervous and the way Dan was helping and supporting you with the nerves and just got you through it with simple answers was just lovely to watch.
Meg it’s just amazing to see how much you have improved, not just from the beginning to the end of the vlog but since I’ve started watching you. You’re confidence is getting so much better every ride, you’re a brilliant rider ❤x
Awh thank you so much! This was just days after Bicton so I felt so nervous to go and jump a strange horse!
Dan is a patient and thoughtful teacher who helped you and those watching. Thanks Meg, love Nogmas.
Dan is so funny, sassy but in a encouraging way.
Dan seems so lovely! And I don't think Meg realises how amazing at riding she really is 💕
Dan is amazing! Such a good sport & you can see he is an encouraging, great teacher. Such a good communicator. Thanks Meg & Dan, loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! I was a bit concerned that you wouldn't be doing the epic thing at your place this Vlogmas but you never cease to amaze! What fun! Even the tunes! So great! So glad you got to experience this and I felt right there on pins and needles 😂! Can't wait for the next one!
Awh thank you! Also glad someone appreciated me licensing the chart music 😂
Meg you were jumpin massive! You and joy look so gooddd,I’m very jealous of your riding and your once in a lifetime opportunities, your so lucky and an incredible rider x, well done ,Meg you looked great😍❤️
Thanks so much! I'm incredibly grateful for these opportunities, seriously have to pinch myself sometimes! X
I learned more from this session than from other instructors combined......excellent instructor, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Well done Meg! What a ride. Dan was so good at encouraging you and making sure you know how capable you are! Joy is a very talented boy too xx
Very impressive!! You rocked it on such a different horse then what your use to!! I loved Dan's teaching style with the humor but no-nonsense attitude! Can't wait to see the rest of Vlogmas!!!!!!
Meg you did amazing! Coming off of that fall on Jammie a few weeks ago, I think you were brave and definitely on your way to overcoming the mental set back it's had to have on you! That horse had so much movement in his hind end, seriously 😳. Lemme is 16.2 and he doesn't move anything like that!!! Great job and what a fun start to vlogmas. Can't wait for the next one. Thank you for all the work you put into these, definitely my favorite thing to watch!
Dan has an amazing teaching style never puts anyone down and is all about building them back up without loads of pressure... well done meg you did amazing as it must be scary moving from a pony stride to horses takes alot of getting used to
Oh my goodness Meg you should be so proud of yourself you rode brilliantly!! Dan cracks me up!! Well done for being so brave- bless you ❤
Thank you ❤
SUCH a good video, loved to see Dan's coaching method and how vulnerable yall could both be!
Meg, I think this is the size Ettie is going to be. If not this tall, then very close. So proud of you not giving up!! I'm so glad that Dan pushed you to do the whole course once again, it gave you so much confidence and showed you that you CAN jump fences that you think are too tall. Ettie is already a tall filly, and she isn't even weaned yet!! She's only going to get taller and fill out on you. She is NOT going to be Pony sized by any stretch of the imagination. Listen to what Dan and Lucinda keep telling you. You CAN DO IT!!! Believe in yourself Meg! I believe in you, so many of us believe in you. Your confidence will only grow from this experience. Love from a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. I am also a Retired FEI Level Coach and Judge.💖🇨🇦🇬🇧
@@NoThankUBeQuiet Her sire has produced bigger foals than himself, that's why she bred Millie to him. And Ettie, not even weaned yet, is already almost 14 hh. So shes definitely going to be about 15.3 hh or 16 hh. Just my opinion after working with horses for more than 50 yrs. Best Regards for a great weekend ahead. Jenn.
@@jenniferlehman326 15.33hh is a long way from 16.3hh, especially when she's half pony - she'll not ride like a warmblood.
Bless you! Well done for doing that I can’t imagine it was easy at all! Jumping after your fall in itself is hard but jumping a big horse you’ve never ridden before is even harder!! What a sweet horse and you improved so much through the session! Xx
I love Dans teaching. He teachs throughtout and is not to harsh just the right amount but makes sure u dont permit fear to rule you
It's so nice to finally see Megan ride and potentially even struggle with a larger horse. Especially since I struggle with my big boy aswell🙈
You did so well Meg !! 💋
It’s so nice to see equine influencers being real, confidence is such an important this in riding and at the moment i have basically none to the point where I’m struggling to canter. The horse I ride is 18hh and because of the weather we are in the indoor which he doesn’t like so he plays up/naps towards the middle near his friends and my confidence is shattered because of it. 🤞 spring comes soon so we can get back to the outdoor. You did amazing and joy seems like such a sweet horse ❤️x
Meg, you have no idea how good you are you know, Dan would not have let you continue and push you, if he did not have faith in you, or the horse. Such and enjoyable Vlogmas, so proud of you, really am.
It was great to get a chance to see and understand a little more about how show jumping works. Thank you for letting us see your honest reactions to this kind of riding as I'm sure everyone has faced something in their riding careers that made them want to stop and "run away"! I still remember the first time that my teacher pointed me at a jump and how she almost had to lead my horse over it with me on his back. More than half a century later I can still feel how terrified I was and how I would rather have done almost anything else at the time! Overcoming those feelings and continuing to try new things (and live) is one of the great things we can learn from our riding.
Oh Meg, you’re living my dream getting all these unbelievable opportunities, but you absolutely deserve them! Great job, you’re so brave🥹
Thank you! I'm living my dream too 🥺
I just love how you show all of the ups and downs of jumping new horses, I always seem like it’s isn’t shown enough in general. Also I love the videography and editing in this it’s so pretty :)
I think this is my favourite video you’ve ever done Meg! Dan is amazing and well done, couldn’t have been easy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much!
I hope that when you rewatched this you saw how well you did. You rode a giant-strided horse so well even though it was two hands outside of your comfort zone! It’s funny how it feels so different from how it looks. I went through this exact kind of fear recovery, and I was paired up with a wonderful mare who was so forgiving. I would fall to pieces mentally if we chipped in a line, thinking that I had screwed it all up, or worse, ruined it for the horse. My trainer did the same thing Dan did: put poles out, lowered the fence and let me come around to doing it. My heart was still pounding, I could hear the blood rushing in my ears, but eventually I could breathe and connect with the mare to let the fences come to us. Thanks so much for taking us on this ride with you!
Priceless ❤❤❤ I just love listening to the specifics of how he understands the horses what a privilege!,, and you are so humble and brave it’s refreshing xx so much learn - these videos are the experience of a lifetime🎉❤ great job!
Dan is great, he is so cheeky with a glint in his eye. His horses are gorgeous. Well done Meg, you could see and hear just how out of your comfort zone you were
Are you going to see the wonderful grey Jim next?
I can already tell just from this one episode that this series camw at the perfect time to help your confidence after the fall! And Dan is a natural to camera - had me and my non horsey boyfriend is stitches laughing😂
I learnt lots from your lesson too Meg, you rode Joy so well! Dan was a great coach as well, love how he helped you regroup and that final round was then epic. Well done 😍
Awesome! Well done riding such a big horse and going around a 1.10m course aswell! Whoop, whoop! Super proud! This vlogmas is going to be so exciting! I'm living for it already. Dan sure has gorgeous horses and sounds like a wonderful calm trainer with a good dose of sas, love it! Very nice to watch along your lesson with him. Fabulous job Meg! This series is going to be a real treat!
I'm excited to see you ride all these big horses!! Jam is a horse after all 🤣 and can do a horse stride
Wow great job! Dan seems so encouraging and kind, but also very funny and humorous. I loved his tips and how he teaches. Joy seemed like such an awesome horse to ride as well!
This was amazing! A great mix of learning from Dan and laughing at Meg (whilst being totally convinced I'd have cried in that situation)...
Wow! I was pooping my pants from the moment your horse overjumped that first ground pole, lol!! You are amazing to continue on AND then kill it. Great job!
I can't get over a fact how drop dead gorgeous Golf is. Joy aka Pretty Boy is such a sweetheart and a professor horse. And Dan is just amazing, patient and reassuring.
Watching this September 2023 & knowing how you must have felt doing this yet you still absolutely crushed it is a testament to your resilience. Never doubt your capabilities, you can literally do anything 💚
Have to admit… didn’t know who Dan was but after watching this vlog I’m a new fan.
Well done Meg for pushing yourself in this video. You put a lot of pressure on yourself but deliver where I think I would have just given up. Thanks for championing confidence in a real and relatable way. It’s refreshing to see you have wibbles like the next person, but the advise Dan gave in the vlog was really good and something I’ll be remembering for my own training at home. Can’t wait to watch the next one ❤
That was amazing Meg!!! You had me cheering you on the whole time - ❣️🐴❣️ Thanks for this great video 🤩♥️
Thanks so much, really nice getting feedback on them! ❤
Well done Meg 👏👏 what a lovely horse Joy is. Dan had a really good teaching technique, very calm but giving you the confidence to get round, looking forward to the rest of vlogmass!
I had a huge smile on my face when you cleared the full course. Really inspiring to watch! Great job!!
Amazing. It was great to see a raw lesson. Your honesty and success was beautiful to watch.
You were so brave Meg you should be so proud of yourself! Those jumps were huge!!!!! ❤
Meg you did a awesome riding you are alot better rider then you think don't doubt yourself and you will go further than you think with your riding keep on going girl 😁
Wow Meg what an amazing start to Vlogmas. Dan is a natural on camera. So lovely, funny and informative.
Dan seems like he would be an incredible instructor, perfect amount of of pushing but encouraging. You did a great job, those lightbulb moments are just the best.
Joy is such a really pretty boy ⭐️
You have improved so much Meg! Not just for the beginning to end of the video, over all just when I started watching your videos.
Well done Meg and Joy! ❤🎉👏
CONGRATULATIONS on that last course! It's amazing to see the difference through the lesson ❤️
Such a big difference wasn't there, owe it to Dan and Joy!
that was epic!! and you looked so good on Joy!! time for a horse?? but listen to Dan he said they push you because you have the ability!! Dan was the best, absolutely hilarious but such a good trainer, what a great experience for you!
I’ve watched this episode three times 🤣 Dan’s advice is so good and so simple to grasp, especially when he talks about walking up the curbs. You rode amazing, I think this is my fav episode this year x
Well done Meg that was amazing…..Joy was such lovely boy. What a great horse and teacher Dan, I had tears in my eyes at the end when you completed the course. So happy for you. 👍🏼
Meg, Vlogmas-wise, you really knocked this out of the park. Cam and Dan remind me of one another other as coaches: let the horse do the jumping and believe in yourself!! I’m a new fan of Dan m’s now. This horse was beautiful and totally knew his job. What a great confidence builder. You are such a good rider. Well done!!!
Awh thank you very much! Yeh I loved Dan's style of teaching, and Joy was just an absolute dream!
I’ve known Dan for a fair few years now, and while it’s been a while since I’ve seen him I can honestly say he hasn’t changed a bit😂a proper top bloke, really helped me out at a show when the horse I was riding was being, shall we say…enthusiastic in the warm up😂 lovely to see him getting some recognition!🙌🏻

I absolutely loved this video Meg! I think this is going to be a great Vlogmas, and I love how you don't cut anything out.
