I love both Frank and Frenchy’s deaths. I know Frank’s is the more built-up of the two but I just absolutely love how French’s is executed. I personally loved him as a character, so it hit hard, his last words are pretty genuinely funny, and the editing works fantastically. So damn good.
Frenchy went out on his own terms (sort of). He knew he wasn't getting out of the car, the police would have shot him down, so why not go out with a quick gunshot? "When you're facing a loaded gun, what's the difference?"
When franks cell rang it reminded me of Nicholsons death as the joker. After he plunged off the cathedral the laughing bag was going off while he’s sprawled
Is anybody else noticed that Gwen Actually says , "where the fuck is Frank? Even in the movie, it is changed to "where the hell is frank?"...but read her lips.
@@kevinanimalcasinokevcasino8172 I guess I’m wrong. Apparently Scorsese decided to change it to the last minute due to pacing reasons. It’s very believable, I mean the cops were in a middle of a intense shooting so he had the time to split away while the cops were distracted and find him
An alternate plan could’ve been Colin meeting Frank in person to just confront him about his FBI informant job. No gun fight, no cops, no blood. Instead of creating an ambush on Frank and his men.
It should've happened differently. They'd never have a shootout with their own undercover being down range and unaware of the bust. Lol they put together a team, get in position, and execute the ambush in the time it takes Frank's crew to drive across town lmao

@johnconlon2207 yeah mate what I mean is Frank Costello was a real person so why try to make him to be an Irishman when he wasn't. And yeh I know two blokes can have the same name and be from vastly different backgrounds but this simply was not the case in this movie.
When Frank Costello, the head of the Genovese crime family, was forced to testify during a hearing on organized crime in 1951 he objected to being on camera so the camera only showed his hands.
I think so, but he probably was the only one who might have known that for sure. Others might have suspected it, like the guy who gave the info to Billy.

Gwen is reading a book called "Getting Pregnant" in the scene prior to this about "giving Dignam a whiff"

Irish, anglicised forms of a Gaelic surname
In Ireland Costello is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable. Trust me, I know! It is an Irish name as well as Italian.
Its an Irish name from West of Ireland Coisdealbha in Gaelic

No, he'd have almost certainly killed him if he knew
I think he did know. Frank is loosely based off of Whitey Bulger and when he became an FBI informant he told his closest confidant.
