i can just see ppl trying to do this without instruction , and getting alot of broken fingers and wrist, a very good demo by both of you guys, excellent well done.
WOW This is exactly what I needed now. I'm curretly learning the 4th kata of Bo (in junior side). Thank you very much, this is a great help for me to remember what was taught during training at our dojo.
For this demo, I used the lighter Bo because my left forearm was very painful. Usually I suggest students use heavier Bo’s so they can learn to use center power to control their weapon.
Good question. The actual distance would be about a foot closer, but for safety, there is more distance in the kata so no one gets injured while practicing. Observing the movements are very deceptive because the actual application is hidden within the kata. It takes years to discover the real application, but back in the olden days you didn’t want observers to capture your skill, and then defeat you. In my opinion, there is a tremendous amount of education within each movement, which gives a lifetime of study. Also, each kata is a series of movements, and if the distance were closed, then it would stop because each movement would be a separate kill. So in order to practice stamina and other skills, the added distance is very important for a variety of reasons.
I know you trained under sugawara-ha because i know people who have trained with you. What i dont know is if you understand that no one is allow to demonstrate katori to non members.
Thank you for letting me know because I had no idea about this rule. You may also want to contact everyone around the world who has produced similar demonstration videos in our organization.
That was pretty high level skills demonstrated by both sides.
"W" Dont know if he wants his name out there always did well but hes improved a lot since I've seen him in person.
Thank you for sharing. I'm learning the 5th Kata in Bo at the moment
Very nice. As for me, I'm learning the 4th kata in Bo 😊

My comment is as short and quick as your movement: EXCELLENT!
good stuff 👍
Do you use lighter bo for certain considerations?

@@paulfrank1777 Take care 🙏
Why do the guy with a sword cuts the air but doesn't aiming you? You make some blocks, but your partner's weapon doesn't even reach you
