  • Join me as I complete the Commercial Pilot ACS Series. The commercial pilot checkride is just like any other FAA practical test and uses the Airman Certification Standards. This test evaluates your knowledge and skills as a pilot to make sure you have what it takes to fly for compensation. In the fourth and final episode of the series, I discuss the Commercial ACS Appendix, which has some amplifying remarks on previously discussed Areas of Operation. Thank you for all the feedback, I look forward to hearing more! If you have anything you would like to share, please email me at: sethlake@vsl.aero.
I look forward to hearing from you!

I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos! When it came to my commercial I had a pretty cool examiner and was a great checkride! Multi is next!

Nailed my checkride that was quite thorough. He didn’t want me to use the ForeFlight weight and balance, but it sure made it easy for the prep and questions on moving weight around. Clouds were a big help from your weather and ForeFlight piece

really like the interactive ACS / PTS, I've been doing the same with my lesson plans and syllabus while working towards my initial CFI, a lot of work but I feel the end product is worth it

Also, he chose the “OR”, and the examiner did not choose lazy eights or steep spirals which was good because there were clouds and wind, so those would have been difficult to complete

Really appreciate this series. I just passed my checkride today. Didn't catch part 4 before the checkride, but it all worked out! Thank you!

Hey Seth, can’t tell you how helpful this series has been for my checkride prep, absolutely phenomenal, thank you! One question for you, in order to satisfy 61.129 specifically the 2 hour day cross country with a total straight line distance of more than 100nm from the original point of departure.
Does the entire roundtrip flight need to be over 2 hours or does that initial first leg that is >100nm from the point of departure need to be 2 hours? Appreciate the help!!
