- Hello,
I took a Commercial Checkride with DPE Chris Kaplan out of John Wayne Airport in February of 2021. This is a detailed complete rundown of what happened on the checkride and leading up to it.
I was looking on the name twice that Chris was my DPE of instrument checkride. This will be big hint preparing my commercial checkride which will be coming soon. Thx for sharing. He is really good DPE and knows the point.

You’ll definitely be able to! I think the hardest parts of commercial is getting back to basics, knowing how and when to execute parts of each maneuver, the new commercial knowledge that’s required, and not getting nervous like I was! If you ever want to chat about it or have questions feel free to let me know.

I'd love to see your flight plan to KMRY. I've been planning to do that exact trip for a while now- but the weather up there keeps delaying my plans. Did you plan it for one of FunOutside's planes?
I was using DA40's out of KSNA at the time. TBH on my commercial ride there wasn't a ton of flight planning involvement.

@@JPLAviation it’s was for my PPL. Makes the checkride environment very comforting. Something I definitely appreciated being a scared/nervous student pilot. Wish I had him for my commercial tomorrow lol
