@@juliemarks9952No of course not. I don't walk around with a label on my shirt telling the world I'm a fag8...amongst other things of course, so why should she wear one telling the world her story?
Most people, for better, for worse, keep their inner battles hidden...sometimes hidden so well, their mind hides the worst excesses of them from even themselves. From my experience of this, it's as a form of psychological self defence. And sometimes, if you go digging too deeply in order to (at least try to) 'fix yourself', you begin to wish you'd never even begun the process.
      Such is my 🌎.
Some things are hidden deep in your subconscious for a reason, and should thus (in my opinion anyway) be left well alone. But, and if in all your earnest zeal you end up unearthing them, it's almost impossible to put them back in your Pandora's box (where they well belong).
My one is large. In both dimensions...even if it's hinges are about what you'd expect of a box capable of storing all your 🤪 stuff. Not to mention capable of holding all your precious family jewelry, or is it all your jewels, I can never quite decide...
Sometimes, I think, IT IS actually possible to 'know yourself' (and why you are as you are) almost rather too well, becoming a hindrance to what remains of the rest of your life...
      Beware..!
PS: I'm a huge success at parties...unless I get half drunk...or at minimum at least quarter. It takes the edge off all my psychological, if not at all my physical...💩. In my experience of both of them anyway.
Apologies for (all) the mental pictures, as well as for being...
      Not.
And also, congratulations for making it to the end. Many haven't, so I gather, getting tangled, if not lost altogether, amongst all the innuendo. But, and as I'm (fully) 🧮, as well as (half) 🇬🇧, I guess it's almost compulsory, don't you think?

My brother sexually assaulted me when I was a little girl. He was a monster, especially to me. Many, many, many years of verbal, mental & physical abuse, not just towards me (although I got the brunt of it), but towards my parents. Even as an adult, & telling myself he can’t hurt me, just phone the police etc.. he had that hold over me, this internal fear that I can’t even begin to express, so I can completely understand her when she says she’s terrified of her father.
My ‘brother’ died 9 months after the sudden passing of my mum, dropped down of a huge heart attack aged 44. I called it karma. No, I didn’t go to his funeral. I told my other two brothers about the abuse, but they either didn’t care or didn’t believe me, which left me more broken. I found out after his passing, he had pushed many, many false narratives, stories & lies onto extended family members we weren’t in touch with (as he’d burnt so many bridges with us we didn’t have any contact with him), so even in death, he manipulated others against me and the rest of the family - including the narrative he was sexually abused himself, which he was not. I knew him so well, that I knew he had made up this story (yes, he was THAT warped & disgusting) to cover his own tracks if I ever came forward, to victimise himself all over again. That was his entire life.. playing the victim.
No point reporting it to the police now. He’s long gone. Took me years to even admit what he’d done to me, I thought I had a sick imagination and it was all in my head.
I’m sending her so, so much love and strength. I’m so, so sorry you went through this. I truly am. I hope your dad rots.

I’m so sorry for what you had to go through. I was sexually abused by two family members as a child who have now passed. But I’ve always hated the ones who made me feel at fault or covered it up more than the ones who did it to me. One whom made me lie to investigators as a child to cover up for the abuser. Both enablers keep in contact with each other giving information on me and always trying to make me feel guilty for not talking to them bc of the family title. It almost drives me to end it bc that’s the only way to escape them but I won’t. I’ll never get justice and it eats me alive but at least the ones who sexually assaulted me are gone

But it is always interesting to see how predators and other human garbage manage to affiliate themselves with religious organizations. Where does common sense come in? Yes I realize that SA is a charitable group and I commend them for their contribution to the needy but when it comes to people who are overseeing their operations, do they not have any screening processes? It seems like there was an awful amount of blind naïveté going around that area. JS.

Yup. My mom comes from a pretty conservative and religious background but even she didn’t shy away from teaching me and my sisters that it was not okay to be touched in certain places and that other people showing us their privates or telling us to keep secrets was not okay and that we needed to tell her even if we were threatened not to. She said she remembers grown men saying disgusting things to her, flashing her, and propositioning her when she was clearly still a child, so that’s why it was so important to her to make sure we were safe. My aunt, her sister, was abandoned by her husband and left with two young children. She *never* dated after that because she always said that she would not risk her children’s safety by bringing a man into her house just for her own pleasure. You just can’t be too careful and it’s so important to teach kids about this stuff so that they know this isn’t okay and that they should never be afraid to ask for help.

We need to campaign for harsher sentences for SA. I am so so enraged with the sentences for SA cases. I'm a survivor of SA too. I am so sorry you went through this. The justice system does not seem to fully understand the life sentence being SA has on the individual. Whilst we do say we're survivors, there is no taking away from the fact that it does affect the rest of your life. It never goes away. You learn to become stronger etc., but it is always there, even when you don't seem to think it is. Why does the justice system give such light sentences to the perpetrators!?

I’m not ridiculous. They behave for me. And they say hello to me in the grocery store. You can’t judge them. You don’t have enough information. You just let them know what is expected. Learned this from my dad, the chief master at arms on the US Simon Lake. There’s always a back story. There has to be limits snd consequences, but not shaming and condescension. That woman saved her younger from being raped. That’s a hero. I know a young woman just like that. They’re young they don’t understand their emotions and they act out when you talk down to them.

I was abused when i was 13 yrs old for almost a year, by someone who i trusted within my family. I reported the abuse to the police and my abuser received a 6 month sentence suspended for 2 years- back in the 80s it wasn't talked about much, hushed up, very little support for victims, you were expected to just get over it and get on with your life. I can assure you victims of child abuse continue to suffer, they have to deal with the aftermath and lenient sentencing only increases the suffering. The abuser makes their victim feel worthless and betrays their trust, a lenient sentence compounds that feeling of worthlessness and adds to it a feeling of further betrayal . I am nearly 50yrs old and i still question "If i had been braver and said "stop" the first time it happened, would the abuse have been continued? Would it have made it worse? Why did the courts think the abuse so trivial? Why was i made to feel like i was a huge troublemaker because i had spoken out?

@@Ags-g1n Please don’t say that the 80’s were as backward as you describe. As a woman who is nearly 2 decades older than you I recall the 80’s as being the time when there were many many organizations to rescue these girls. Child abuse of every kind was judicially addressed by enlightened courts and victims were provided support and safe housing.

    • @Ags-g1n
      @Ags-g1n 3 месяца назад +5

@@lululacanuck3824 not every victim was supported or provided with safe housing. The children's act came into force in the late eighties but not enforced entirely in the courts. Yes, there were organisations raising awareness but it was still hushed up, if it could be brushed under the carpet, it was brushed under the carpet. Organisations were raising awareness surrounding child abuse, encouraging victims to speak out but courts were still backwards at coming forward with stricter sentencing.

@@Ags-g1n 1. I am so sorry you were harmed by someone who betrayed your trust. It was never your fault and you did the best you could to protect yourself. I hope you are in a position to pursue healing in a safe space ❤ 2. Please pay no mind to the person above who for whatever reason is far more interested in discounting personal LIVED experiences (such as yours and the subject of this video) than simply accepting that not everyone's life was the same as her own. I don't know what world this person was/is living in but I am flabbergasted at the claim that "child abuse of every kind was judicially addressed" and resources were easily accessible to survivors when even today in 2024 that is simply not true! Justice and appropriate care is seriously inadequate when it comes to child abuse, CSA, domestic violence, sexual assualt etc It is at best a smidgen less undervalued and pathetically undercriminalized as it was in previous decades. No one should ever be made to question their experience in such a disrespectful way. I am sorry for that too!

@@Ags-g1n Actually child protection agencies have existed in North America since the turn of the century (1875) focusing primarily on neglect and battery, by community organizations. However, csa became recognized as early as the early 60’s. By 1962, child protective services were established nation wide. Of course, this is in North America. I find it hard to believe that a metropolitan area like London and its environs was that behind. I understand that you are from England, yes? Obviously the lady featured in this article is from England. Her accent is unmistakable. Also, your age of 13 at the time of the abuse is a vastly different circumstance of her being a legal adult.

I went to school with a girl who was in foster care because her dad had been R*ping her and her sisters and their mom knew about it but ignored it. I know that the dad went to prison but I don’t recall if the mom did any time. I checked up on her a few years ago and she seems to be doing fine. She works with animals and I think she finished college. Last I heard though is that her dad is out, her parents are still together, and the craziest part is that she speaks to them. I don’t even know what’s worse, SA’ing your child or knowing that your child is being SA’d and doing nothing about it.
