The Phaeton is running beautifully following a full service at a local VW Audi specialist. It's going back in for new front discs and pads next week. Love it.
I've no idea why Matt isn't the lead presenter on Top Gear. He really is one of the UKs treasures.
Thanks. Very kind
Probably because UK Top Gear has just been axed.
He’d certainly be better than any that took over from the best trio.
Start your own car show on tv channel 5 or somthing ?
Certainly better than the new top gear cast
Came across this channel a couple weeks ago and loving it. Im slowly working my way through them all. Keep up the good work mate 👍🏻👍🏻🏴
Thank you!
To save you some time on the cheap car videos. He got new reg plates and massively overspent.
@@Jamie-rn8reforgot wheels refurnished and gearbox services
You’re so lucky. I’ve watched/listened to the videos more times than I’ve watched Friends re-runs 😂😂
@@Jamie-rn8reand a good buff obviously
Hey Matt - I bought that white Disco 4 from you a few months back, and it's been great. Still going strong and has taken the family camping, done some off-roading, trips up and down the country. It's being looked after by a local indie LR specialist when it needs anything.
I have one major complaint though - the CD left in the player was awful!
Keep up the good work.
Oh and next year, we're planning to get it a bit kitted out to do a Paris - Dakar run if all goes well.
Haha glad you're enjoying it - the car, not the CD
To make me believe this story you have to reveal what the CD was.
@@MrTinkx ah...I've binned it. It was a cheesy 2000s dance mix cd.
I’m surprised you make any money at all ,you seem to lose a fair bit of money on the cars you buy
I'm impressed that you foot the bill for the XE engine rebuild considering it failed several months later and wasn't actually the same fault that was warranted. I know of a fair few dealers/traders who would've just scoffed and said it's not their problem
But it is his problem because it was in warranty at that time, he probably would do the same if he could back then if the mechanic said it needs an entire new engine
Cheap jags , land rovers and Aston martins…what could possibly go wrong? 😀 Enjoying the content thanks
Matt, you’re a good man and gave all these cars love and attention. I’d happily buy a car from you and know that you’ll not try to pull my pants down.
Odd ball video but I loved it, you are so entertaining to an old man who loves seeing cars being saved. Thanks Matt.
As I’ve commented before….Matt you have the patience of a saint ! Some bad luck with cars is always going to happen but I just don’t think I could be as nice as you are to the recipients of the said vehicles! The word Bugger off you got an amazing deal in the first place comes to mind 😁
It’s nice seeing what they’re all up to now
Matt you are so honest. It's great to find a dealer like yourself, you as you say are just like the rest of us. I've owned over 105 cars, currently have 7 and still can't stop buying them. You videos are so heartfelt. Thank you.
😯😳
I absolutely loved this episode...often wondered what happened to the cars. Thanks for taking the time out to make the videos.
One of the best car channels on RUclips. Good work Matt.
This was a fantastic video. We all love a bit of closure !!! You did well with the Agila 😁
I loved the XF. I would have liked that.
The green BMW convertible was stunning !!
I think this highlights you don't just run a business you have a deep passion for cars, keeping track and knowing the history of your sales even on the bland cars. Many in the car sales business just see them as target figures,a metal box with four wheels.
Cool! I never thought about what happens next. Great to see.
I am a total car shopping addict. Barely a day goes by where I don't almost convince myself to buy another car that I will hardly use (already have 3 cars). This week I've been through XFR, A8 4.2 tdi, SL63, x5 M50d the list goes on!
Thanks for the updates. I do some work in construction and wouldn't go back over some of the jobs ive done and yes ive had difficult days as well😉😉👍👍
Haha good point
The biggest surprise: you sold the green BMW convertible - I would have kept that and I hate Beemers! The biggest disappointment: you sold the Volvo XC70! Or raffled it. Broke my little heart, but you did it some justice with the work carried out and taking it on that road trip! Glad to hear the new owner is doing well with it!
I used to own a diesel Jag. That thing was a dog after only 35,000 miles. I couldn't wait to see the back of it!
This was super interesting! Please keep these where are they now videos coming. Brutal luck with the Jag XE, but at least you did right by the customer.
Great decision to do an update video, Matt. Please schedule one of these every 6 months!
The 300,000 mile volvo its a icon from your site it will still be going when all the other prestige cars meet their maker 😂
Thanks Matt, Great to finally hear about the latest with your car collection and the RR's, especially the green one.
Very much looking forward to PT2 of the GG L322 vid. That was the vid that got me hooked on Range Rovers.
Often wondered what happened to the high mileage Volvo estate and the Navara?….glad they are both doing well, my kinda cars….❤
That was a really good update video - PS- I got my headlights buffed this week - driving at night is no longer guesswork!
New things can break (that's why companies offer warranties), and used things can break. And as any car owner knows, 90% of things that fail do so without warning. To me, above a certain price point, it makes sense to support your local second hand car dealer. That gives them the revenue to support warranty claims. Imagine if that guy had bought the Jag from a private seller. That £6k would have been on him. Ouch. Matt, you're up there with Rob Ferretti in your ability to take losses or unexpected costs on the chin and still ( even ruefully ) smile.
Being a used car trader doesn't seem that easy when cars break down within the "warranty" period. Hopefully the decent profits far outway the massive losses on some of those cars. 🤞
Fantastic idea Matt. Really good to see where some of the cars went.
Superb! I think most of your viewers want a 30 car garage too 😀Thanks for showing us what a mission it can be - you never know, it may have cured some of us 🤣 👍
Still working on my cheap 2007 tdv8 , collecting from garage tomorrow ,,,again .
I feel your pain on the Mercedes waterpumps. I have a 2014 w204 c220 cdi coupe. That I've had for 4 years and 60k miles, so it's on 120k now, only issue has been a leaking waterpump. The local Merc independent said it was a common fault, the replacement ones are supposed to be better. My dad's now looking to buy an estate one and I've told him if it's not had the waterpump changed it'll probably need one in the near future, a common failure. Can't fault it otherwise though, brilliant cars.
Been watching these video for years, and i love you just chatting away
Thanks
Nice little trip down memory lane Matt.
Some of those losses though 😢
Customers don’t realise this, they think you’re a Car Dealer so must be ‘doing well’ out of it……..as they trade in their car with hidden issues 🙄
Very true
Good to see a mention of the green Range Rover, looking forward to part 2.
A really interesting follow-up video. PLEASE continue to do more of them.
The whole saved list on autotrader is one on my vices, too 😂. Thanks for the update, glad you're keeping the merc amg gts, what a car!
Finally got an update on that pickup! it looks like you had the side panels sorted before it was sold.
About the blue Punto with no tax. In the UK YOU the seller are supposed to fill out the appropriate part of the V5 when selling, and deliver it to the DVLA, either by post or in internet form. It’s done this way precisely because of the situation you described. Never trust the buyer to do the paperwork that ends your responsibility for a vehicle.
Hello Matt, thank you for the update, swings and roundabouts on the cars. All the best. Ged.
My local Vauxhall service manager's first company demonstrator, a Star Silver Vectra 2.2 SRi 150 (Y808JOD), scrapped two years ago.😢
We’ve got a similar experience with my dad’s Jaguar F-Pace 2.0 TDI. Drove it to Greece last vacation and the turbo blew whilst driving, taking the engine with it… dealer quoted us for a new engine (and a lot of other stuff) at €26k. 2017 car, only 75k km on the clock and always maintained right on time… Though luckily transporting it back home didn’t cost us anything cause we had roadside coverage for Europe
Matt's business is so stressful and very expensive when you made a mistake. Just wondering if there's a way that you can minimise those massive mistakes. I'm gonna have a heart attack if I am Matt with all those stress and losses. I am curious how he handles all of these. What keep him going and is it worth it? x Cheeers!
That’s why I don’t want to do it long term. It isn’t healthy.
Another quality video Matt! Well done and please keep them coming 😃
what a brilliant piece!! as a regular viewer on youtube, I am familiar with most of the cars you have discussed. my Dad was i the motor trade all of his life, selling jags in thee 60s and early 70s, alfas from 1974 through to the 90s. i always remember asking why he didn't bring the coole car home tonight??? .. His naswer usually was ... this one is taxed and had fuel! in!! ,,, You have not yet shown that level of cynicism! ... hope you don't get there!! 😂😂 .. thank you for being so interesting and entertaining! as a mere mortal petrolhead I would love a couple of cars - but reality dictates just one!! 😂 ... Keep up the great work!!
I love hearing the stories of each cars
Good video; have always been interesting in the warranty claims on the 'cheap' cars.
Interesting fact, that grey 2005 honda civic you sold a while ago was recently involved in a car crash. Was written off as a cat S
Great idea for a video
Thank you!
Love to see what happened to those cars. You could only buy what you think will work at the time, short of using a crystal ball. I have the everyday vehicle jow ( a 2016 Vitara 1.4 AllGrip based on your review and I'm glad I watched it as I love it. I do still want an Alfa Romeo, Jaguar or Rover P6, SD1 or Triumph 2000 or Dolomite still. My imaginary garage is a multi storey car park
I’m not really a petrol head or so I thought, your channel is rather addictive though. I like it when you turn over a good profit and feel the pain when you don’t. Keep it up!
This is a great video Matt 👍 so often wondered what the ‘after story’ was with many of your cars. Cheers
There are some moments where your words are pure insight into my mentality. Amazing. You have earned a follower and I do say each video is amazing and so relatable.
Thanks for this video, Matt. Your passion for cars and your job is so overwhelming. Even though these are seamingly second hand cars reviews, every video of yours seeing cars rescued brings nothing but pure joy. Keep up a great work!
I just watched the video on the PT Cruiser . I own one I bought it Brand new in 2001 it just turned over 30,000 miles I keep it in a garage and take very good care of it never had a problem I hope you are right that they will become collectible! I have it loaded and has everything and I also have the wood-paneled look! Great car so far!
Great video Matt, nice to see the aftermath of the sales
Thank you for the humorous and fascinating experiences. Love your self deprecating style. Im fascinated by cars (any sort of engineering really), but your channel is an excellent reality check about the perils of working with them.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Matt glad to hear more about where those cars went, please do a part 2-3 etc of this I’m sure there’s many more cars to hear about
Hi Matt I bought a Freelander 2 from the Romiley garage last September, I love it but I was really looking at buying at Range Rover 4.4 V8 . I’m slightly disappointed that you don’t seem to buying many Range Rovers even though you rate them highly. Get a nice example of the V8 and I’ll be there trading in the Freelander , it’s exactly the same condition as when I bought it except for a major service and 5k extra miles .
Tickets bought. Thanks Matt! Good odds, exciting.
Thanks
Fun overview video, thank you. Great to see the cars again, the Range Rovers are indeed majestic, really enjoyed the Winter footage. No shame in wanting a nice car collection :)
You’re very brave to confess your mistakes/disasters! It’s nice to see the loose ends tied up . Even experts make mistakes, proving that you are human.
He is so far best person to present a TV show he knows more about cars then
Where do you keep your cars? How many do you personally own? Can you do a “my garage “ video?
Another great video Matt, I'm taking a look at your course next month, to eventually quit my hospital job and go self employed.
Matt I told you that Mini Clubman was a bit of a turd but a good looking one in that lovely green colour 😂 my uncle used to own one years ago and loved it but weirdly he got rid of it and never spoke about it🤧 almost like it never existed... although your black L322 I hope you keep for as long as you can, the spec is gorgeous and the car just screams early 2000s timeless class and i'm in love with it😍
Your Jag XE woes has me smiling ruefully. I had a nice bill of £4.5K on mine for engine rebuild at about the 100K miles too. Bullet-proof ingenium indeed.😅
Thanks for the closure. Not surprised at mercs being unreliable. Thats certainly my experience but i know people have different opinions.
Thanks matt appreciate that video and hear the stories of cars reminds me of wheeler dealers when they did show about where some of cars ended up
How did things go with that beautiful red golf that had next to no miles on there?
Great vid!
Would love it if you would do another cheap Skoda Yeti! Always had a softspot for this car and liked your first review.
They’d sell faster if you answered your phone lol.
Called 4 times today to enquire about the c class
Sorry about that. We’re short staffed at the moment
Yes mate you are right about cheap cars been used by criminals. Couple years ago in London I sold Insignia and in one week I received letter from police asking more details about person who bought car from me. Lesson is, always make shore that after making sale, you contact DVLA that car is sold and you are not owner anymore.
I don't know how you guys in the car trade can still smile after taking such big hits of losses. I've been watching the channel since you had 1000 subs and I must have seen you sold as many cars. I've got 2 cars in the family to look after and thats a headache any day of the week. Still great entertaining video Matt as usual.
Watched the Buckingham Blue Range Rover video last night and I was wondering how you were getting on with it. Very good video, good to hear about the previous cars 😁
Thanks
These are my breakfast videos 😅 and i really love the way you present 😊
nice, honest video, people who fancy themselves as the new arfur daley should watch this
ive been wrenching for 43yrs, i have witnessed immense changes in the industry, the profits are about the same, but the losses can be vastly worse, so yes, it is harder to make a living in the motor trade...
My midlife crisis car is a RRS SDV8. Decided it’s time to move away from a long line hot hatches that started with my first car. It was an R reg Blaze Yellow 106 GTi. Hopefully trading in my current M2 for it. Thought it was time to move on to something that is a bit more comfortable and luxurious inside.
Nice follow up. Interesting to see how they go with their new owners
Hi Matt thanks for being so honest about the auto buying and selling . What happened to that Jimmy
Really liked the cheap cars I hope you continue with it? And do also high performance cars with it. Awesome matt!
Great Vid and the saying "you win some……” comes to mind #MotorIndustryMoto 👍
Ps you're one of the most honest car dealers, many would NOT stand over £££££££££ of repairs after a sale 👏👏👏
Another top video... you need a tv show pal, like a wheeler dealers type show but without the scripts
Still enjoying the MX5 a few weeks later. Got some plans for it for next year! :)
Matt would you do a video on your private plates? Love to hear how you acquired them etc. thanks
Great idea!
Was waiting for this video was only asking about your csrs the other day
Very enjoyable, Matt - worryingly, I do wonder what happens to most of the cars you sell in my quieter moments. Your face when you were talking about your Merc, was that of a man who had just seen his first love with another and wondered what might have been. 😂
Hahaha sitting here looking out the window at my one car but 47 watches!
Your analogy is perfect
I thought when you sold a car “as is “ it would’ve alleviate the seller of any obligations? How can someone buy a high mileage car, drive it for months without issues and when something breaks it’s somehow the seller’s responsibility to fix it?
I don’t get it either
Great video, Matt, your honesty and integrity is a rare thing these days. The lesson I'm taking from this video is 'don't buy a used Jag' 🤔😂
Part 2 in a few weeks please, Matthew.
Really enjoying your videos, its been enlightening to see the experiences and viewpoint from the trader side of things 😉👍
Really interesting! And yes Volvo estate made the greatest impression on me!
I actually thought we were going to have a video, meeting the new owners !
I was driving behind a green BMW a few weeks ago and thought I recognise that! Sure enough it was the 330 convertible you sold....😊
Hi Matt, looking forward to the follow on video on the beautiful Giverny Green Range Rover you have as I bought the same car, with the same colour combo although it has a 2003 BMW engine and is a definitely a keeper for me
MATT some off your low budget cheaper cars £400 are also filled with medical supplies around manchester 🤣🤣.This is still my favourite channel and salvage rebuilds and the guy from crew who sells cars .
😂😂
@@HighPeakAutos MY E38 mot next week but i have no worry . Its always outside the Midland glazier green .I was offerd 4 grand last night stuck in traffic at salford university from the guy behind in a rangerover ..
You always have such a praticle review.
Maybe add where you buy the cars…..auction, dealers, private, trade in or whatever ???
