- What is there to do and eat on an Indian Reservation? Today I am in Crow Agency, exploring the Crow Indian Reservation, just south of Billings, Montana. I am walking the downtown of the main town, and exploring what I can find to eat.
I came here to show what there is to experience Crow Reservation. I don't think First Nation people get enough attention, and so that's why I came here to make RUclips videos.
I found street food, food trucks and tents selling burgers, nachos, cheese fries, Mexican tacos, enchiladas, burritos, and even a coffee truck. A big favorite was the $1 ice cream scoops at Ruby's gift shop.
Everyone is welcome here. Come down here and try the food. Meet the locals. Make friends.
I also am hoping to make some Native American friends here, and maybe have a chance to learn more about life on the reservation.

No running water in some homes?This makes me so angry.
They could of made a program where celebrities can donate money to the tribes and actually GO to reservations and help out. So much money is being wasted on dumb shit to where you cant even rebuild reservations and give food and water.
I still have to go get my water with my grandparents to use in our house. We have a biggish water tank and we keep it outside and have connections from that to the house
It's cu of the tax situation. Smae with churches and cahartoes. No teases means no government support. Sad but true💔😞

I moved to Seattle Washington 1989 with my husband and first born. My two younger children were born and raised in Seattle, I only returned to bury my family which does not give me good memories. I’ve always been fascinated by the Native American people. I love the hand drumming, the singing, the pow wows. I wish I could be apart of things like that. They are good people. Thank you for sharing this video!!!

Took my DNA and am 50 percent Native American but I always new this as my grand mother was Chichimeca from Northern Jalisco Mexico.... Proud fierce warriors who defeated the Spanish and Also kepted the Aztecs from taking their lands..... Mexican people need to wake up and realize that most of us are not white but Native American....wake up from the lie.
@@rubengonzalez750 definitely man let's be proud of our culture and find our true selfs. And yeah it's the colorism mentality keeping our people wanting to be white. This is why I look at other people like in Colombia, Honduras, Brazil, El Salvador, Guatemala the same, la misma jente, differente coltura.

I live 15 minutes from this place, honestly… it’s horrible. Sure most the people at nice, but this video only showed the nice parts, the rest are a bunch of whinos, druggies , and shit kids

My good friends family used to have the "Crow Mercantile" in the "Rubies" location. They also own the laundromat and the Conoco Station. They built the new larger "Crow Mercantile" which is next to the gas station. Sadly, a fire destroyed the new Mercantile store a couple years ago. The store will not be rebuilt. This had a great impact on the community as there is no large store in the town. 😢

This is so interesting, I love learning about culture and cultural history, I would love to visit. I really envy your travelling adventures but watching your videos are great Jason. My weakness is food and I can imagine just wanting to try every type of cuisine. Love to the Native Indian tribe and it shows that a good supportive community can make a huge difference and bring happiness even when sometimes times are hard 💞

Back in the late 80's and early 90's we use to go to Crow Agency for Gospel Camp Meetings. Those were the days. My brothers and I met alot of new people there from everywhere I believe we still have photos of the events. The Carpenter family took us in and took very good care of us. I think it's time I take my kids if they're still having those Revivals.

Times have changed when I was there in the 80's. My Granmother always takes me to the grocery store now which is called Rubies.

I agree. There is a major lack of nutrition on the reservation... I couldn't find any fresh fruit or raw vegetables in the whole town, except for apples at the gas station. People live on bulk processed food.

Crazy I watched your video about a month ago of you going to a barber in a foreign country and thought your video was really funny saying how much you needed this beating your face got lol then I come across this and see that you’re in my backyard in Montana. There are some great crow people but they have a very hard lifestyle I’m glad you got to show this

Hmm. I've never seen that reservation before, I was born in Glasgow Montana but thats only because my parents were going to trade schools there, our family is from Pine Ridge, SD. I'd love to visit this place, the people look nice.

What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
At first you seem nice (and may be you really are), but when you ask strangers lots of questions, and never leave, you are too intrusive. It's rude to walk up to strangers and interrupt them when they are in the middle of a conversation, and even though you show understanding that many are poor, you still don't pay for more than some of the food you get.
I agree. I dont want to sound rude, I'm sure Jason is nice and means well. Just seems a little socially awkward and also asks a load of questions. Nothing wrong with questions but that also must include understanding the other persons body language. Because the person you are questioning will show if they are tired of your questions by either looking away, looking at their phone, or even walking away. Then that's a cue to walk away and on to the next venture. But that 15 yr old boy was most likely irritated by the dwelling on his hair. I would've been annoyed!

No sales tax in Montana. However, many Montana residents consider that real estate taxes adjust for the difference(s). It is nice of Jason Rupp and his mom to enjoy Montana shops, helping improve it's economy after centuries of Montana history showing it ranks poorly in economy until more recently after the digital revolution finally set-in, as Montana was one of the last states to adopt computers in the marketplace. @Brenda Shadley Shadley that's like my peoples in new Zealand we had our tribe land but they ripped it of us because it had gold and tree's they wanted and gave us this piece of crap land compared to what we originaly owned and none of my people really stay there anymore most have to go to the main city or go Australia

Nice of you to support the Crow people and bring them to your viewers' attention. Natives never got a fair deal from the European invaders. At least some have been given Casino rights in recent years which allows some tribes to have a source of revenue.
So right. And this is exactly why I headed to the reservation. I wanted to show the reality and the kind personalities. This would help to open people's minds. Unfortunately there is a lot of racism against natives on the reservations that they are lazy, alcoholics, and bad people. This isn't the case.
I love Native Americans. They are always portrayed as villains in old western movies. But I see here that they're very nice people. God bless them.

Yes!! The Crow Hop is still there! They even invited me back for buffalo burgers.
@@JasonRuppVlog Thanks man, I saw that but that big service station was not there when I was there many moons ago. I seem to recall it was near the center of town, maybe in one of the old closed buildings.
Now it is inside that Conoco gas station. It seems to be the best value spot around
Lots of places throughout Appalachia (in the east)still use out houses and are not reservations.
