    Cadillac STS. They say you cant teach old dogs new tricks, but try telling that to the folks at Cadillac. The brand has more than a century of history but in recent years it has undergone a radical transformation. Gone are the soft, bloated luxury yachts of the past, replaced by world-class performance-oriented sedans exemplified by cars like Cadillacs flagship STS.
    Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Cadillac STS.
    While Cadillac could have designed a heritage-inspired STS, its stylists did the exact opposite, creating a crisp, futuristic design dominated by origami-like body creases. Available with V6 or V8 engines, rear- or all-wheel drive and a slew of high tech goodies, the STS is an American take on the full-size luxury category that doesnt mind mixing it up with the imports. I was lucky enough to buy a Red STS in the UK last week with only 5000 miles on it...Right hand drive...immac...effortless 100 mph motorway driving where allowed...In a land of BMWs MCedes etc this car stands out and is very rare......I live in the UK and Vancouver...I also have in Vancr a 2003 pearl white Eldorado ETC low mileage and immac....now getting rare......I love Caddies ..My first was a red 1975 Coupe De Ville...which my friends called a Pimp Mobile....

      +Ian Rowlandian These Cadillac's are very nice cars. I have several older ones myself. The newest one is a 2005 Deville Final year Special Editon as my daily driver and I love it. I don't consider the 75 Deville a pimp mobile but a nice big luxury car from a past era. American cars use to be big and powerful until they started changing to compete with the competitors. Big mistake for Cadillac, Lincoln and the rest! They all should still be making big cars like they always did.

    • @starxlr7863

    • @1970borntorun
      @1970borntorun 4 года назад

      The problem with Mercedes Benz, as compared to say, Alfa Romeo, BMW, and Infinity, is that Benz somehow leaves "fun" and involvement out of the Recipe. They are well-engineered, safe and sometimes nice-looking, but are not great driver's cars unless you buy an AMG Model. Sorry Benz Fan Boys, but it's true!

    • @starxlr7863
      @starxlr7863 9 лет назад +4

      +LocDawgd I don't even consider the new Cadillac's REAL Cadillac's anymore. Cadillac, Lincoln and Buick should all still be making big luxury cars instead of trying to be something else then they actually are. They are now trying to compete for something that is not in their league. You cannot compare any older Cadillac (except the Cimarron) with any of the new Cadillac's. There is just no comparison anymore.

    I had the honor of driving the 2011 STS for the weekend and it was great! That car is beautiful it stands out, it's bolder than Mercedez and BMW because face it, those cars are so commercial that they turned bland like Honda.
    It's smooth and comfortable on a road trip and it's fast and fiery when you put it in sport mode. I timed the STS at 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. I've driven Mercedez, BMW, Acura and none were like this.

    This guy has no idea what he's talking about saying this is not a car of heritage design. It clearly has Cadillac heritage all over it. The sharp crisp lines and stacked headlights are inspired from 60's Caddys. The sloped rear pillar and short stubby trunk are inspired from the 80-85 Seville. The rear looks as if it was inspired from the late Eldo of 92-04.

      A lot of people don't want to seek the knowledge that the improved Northstar pretty much resolved the headgasket failure issue. RWD V8 STS is a good car for sure. I know of a low mileage 97 Eldorado with original coolant. It's just too bad maintenance is never read or followed. Buying a car this old would be a good maintenance project.

  • @jaymase3735
    @jaymase3735 4 года назад +1

    This car was partially great engineering and partially just very luckily timed. They made a big jump going over to RWD, but it ended up working out- they got lucky they didn't have more issues. Also, they had just ironed out the last kinks to the Northstar V8 and offered a fairly decent AWD system. All of this luck and engineering changes came together at the perfect time and this car was produced. The bad part is that the V6 was pretty problematic for essentially the entire time that this last generation STS was produced.. Don't get a V6..

    The chrome on these Cadillacs are metal. I find it "tacky" when I take a look at my mothers 2008 CRV which cost like $30,000 and find all of the "chrome" emblems are plastic. The ride is terrible and so is the noise in the cabin. Face it, American cars are coming back.

    @djkasdjkasdjdjdj The Cadillac STS is alot bigger and is more spacious in the interior and trunk. The Cadillac CTS is more of a sporty car and alot smaller like for say Mercedes has the E-Class and the C-Class. The E-Class is like the STS it is more of a car for a Mom of two kids or you know just for someone who needs a bigger car. The C-Class is like the CTS for like a college kid or someone who wants a sporty smaller car. Hope this helps you.

    Awesome car! I love the design, but the engines are still far too big. Eventualy Cadillac will sink if they don't adapt their cars to low consume Diesel engines or other alternatives. . Audi, for example, uses for the same class of car 1.9 or 2.5 turbo diesel engines that still run fast enough, but consuming around 6 litres on 100 kms in combined regime. I would sincerely buy an STS rather than a A6 or A4 or 5 Series BMW, but with a smaller diesel engine. I want a car for making miles not show
