This channel needs more likes and subscribers, she takes a lot of time on these videos to help people find the best products for their cat and they’re really helpful! Like the litter box video I bought the natures high sided litter box because she said she recommended it! Same with the litter, I bought the arm and hammer multi cat litter because it was dust free! I wouldn’t know that if she didn’t make these videos. Keep up the good content!

I've been with smalls for over 3 years now. My little guy at the time instantly loved it..my older cat didn't. Smalls has lots of benefits though. It's a shame how some owners don't slowly introduce the the food. This is basically what cats should be eating..high protein foods. My older cat was "picky".. Wouldn't eat it. Cats are usually into the low quality foods.. Long story short he will finish his smalls and try to battle the rest of my other cats dish. On top of that ever since I placed my cat on smalls they have more energy, less hairballs, no smelly litter.. (Not as bad - hardly at all), and no bad breath. Don't give up on your cats if they find the smell foreign. It's worth it.

How did you get your picky one to start eating it. I find that my kitty just likes to eat the gravy off of wet food and leave the actual pieces of meat?

    • @kaylirobles35

This makes me feel better! My younger cat has digestive issues and both cats are resistant to change, though my youngest tends to warm up more quickly to change. But when it comes to food, they like to eat what they've been eating and won't eat new foods easily. Glad to hear you got your picky one to eat it and this is a great reminder to introduce it very slowly. Think I'll slowly replace 1/4 of their current dinners at a time with smalls.

This video was very helpful and informed my decision to give Smalls a try, however, it would be great if you could provide a follow-up video for other cat owners. It turns out Smalls has made quite a few changes that they don't advertise since 2020 such as discontinuing the fish recipes (except for kibble) and toppings (bonito flakes, chicken liver powder). The website also works differently now where the questionnaire doesn't show you the meal plans to choose from or asks as many questions about your cats. They've also had two recalls--one prior to this video in March 2019 and in June 2021.

  • @markharrisllb
    @markharrisllb 2 года назад +2

My cats are on a fresh food diet from a British company called KatKin. My cats love their food though they have some weird pricing policies.
If you get 28 packets for one cat it’s £61 but if you get 28 packets at 14 each for two cats is £73. Then they won’t let orders leap frog each other, in my case I couldn’t have Brodie's delivered today and Baxter's in two weeks. That makes it prohibitive to the elderly and disabled who tend to fill up their freezers more with their own preprepared meals. They are also poor at responding to online questions.
Their food though is 100% protein, with human grade food and with recipes compiled by a PhD dietician from Florida university. My cats absolutely love it and they are a new company and I’m sure they will learn to listen to their customers.

The only thing I don’t like about this company is it’s subscription only requirement. Cats are very finicky and I don’t like to be locked into a subscription. I have been making a homemade food similar to Smalls. I order a supplement from a company called Know Better which you mix with boneless raw or cooked meat and water. I have been making it cooked since I buy ground meat and my cats are not used to raw food. You have to add digestive enzymes if you go with cooked. It’s fed along with canned food as my cats are not ready to accept it as the sole diet and I freeze it into ice cube trays and put the meat blocks in a freezer bag so I only use what my cats will eat and there is no waste and I order as I need it. I am not locked into a subscription. I know Know Better Pet foods is not well known but I think it’s worth doing a review on. If I want freeze dried foods I order from The Simple Food Project...another great company. I also started ordering some food from Life’s Abundance...their kibble and wet foods.

The only food I'd feed my cats out of this is the fresh (I don't feed dehydrated foods) and after going through all of the screens to calculate the costs it seems that would cost between $450 and $700 a month (the per cat costs are different on different pages).
Which totally made me feel better about the $150 I spend on cat food each month so I guess that works.

Hi. I've watched several of your cat food reviews and have found them very interesting. I haven't yet landed on a review of any food that covers all the bases I need covered for my cat. I've had her on Hills Prescription Diet C/D for urinary concerns since age 2 (she's 6 now, with no issues). She drinks much more water now than she did when she was young and has had no more urinary concerns. But she seems to have developed some food sensitivities, and the vet suggested Hills Z/D for Food Sensitivities. The Z/D food makes my cat ill, plus I'm not overly thrilled with Hills foods anyway. Can you suggest something that would support urinary health AND food sensitivity issues? She's getting a little chubby, too, so I'm trying to watch her carbs. Sorry if this is too much to ask about in a YT comments section but I didn't know how else to reach you directly. My vet seems to have limited suggestions, and I'm hoping you might have more. Thanks in advance. ;)

Can you do a review on Sheba? I’m a recent new cat owner and while I was looking into popular wet cat foods on the cat advice subreddits, Sheba came up again and again as something really popular with cats. My cat really enjoys it and although I know it’s not the most amazing quality it’s her first dive into wet food and I try to supplement it with a better quality food, tiki cat. Would love a review! And also, have you considered doing videos on bad food? Things like meow mix? Not necessarily to feed your cats but just to inform people of the importance of buying the best quality food they can afford and not settling if they can avoid it. Just some ideas!

    Our Bombay has IBS-D
(Which is weird because I’ve got IBS-C)
She is spayed & I don’t know the history before that as she is a (now) 3-Y/O rescue cat.
(We’ve had her for 2 years).
She’s not losing any weight & we leave 3-types of kibble food out for her to eat/graze.
Wet food mixed with kibble only at night/over-night.
We’ve tried Nexabiotic by Drformulas, but that only made it worse.
We’ve got 3 Nice sized cat litter boxes (the USPS-Budget ones) in a 500 Sq. Ft. 1-bedroom apt.
She clearly gets gut-agitated with tender entrails As she lets out these guttural growls & yelps & will try to poop wherever she is instead of going to the Boxes.
This is maddening as you can imagine.....& Since my wife doesn’t watch where she walks in the morning? she invariably steps in the poop & drags it around.
Not a fan of this?, She wants to get rid of her.
We need to find out what to do please if you could cover digestive issues with cats and some possible alternatives?.

Pet MD suggests that a mouse contains 55% protein, 45% fat, and 1-2% carbs.
That's pretty interesting to me, the low amount of carbs in a mouse!
And so many cat foods are 17% or much higher.
So I'm interested in why there are so many plant things that are in cat food, instead of meat.
I had a cat that got diabetes. I was devastated for him. I had fed him blue Buffalo since he was 6 months old. I didn't realize the company had been sold, and the formula was changed. Poor ingredients being used, and the kcals were around 500. 😮
I really wish that these pet food companies would think about our pets more than profits.

But fortunately I found a food that Felix loves I’ve never seen you do a a video on it but it’s the FreshPet VITALS, not the tube the pellets. However there is a RUclips video saying that this company has had problems with mold; yikes! But for now Felix loves this food so I’m gonna stick with it.

What’s the point of having such high standards for food if they are still serving a carb heavy dry food? It is well known dry food is not good for cats, and I understand some cats will only eat kibble but this isn’t even a good kibble. I’m just confused? To me it seems like a marketing tactic to get people who aren’t informed that kibble is bad to buy their food and it makes me not trust any of their other products. How can I trust their wet food if the company also serves a bad dry food?

I’m not against vegans as I have friends myself who are vegans and I loveeeee the food since I’m always open to ideas but for cats it’s a different story. My rescue cat doesn't like wet food, just kibble. I've tried lots of foods, many that you've recommended. Frankly, I'm tired of wasting my money and putting the wet food down the garbage disposal. Also, feel guilty that animals are killed and she wastes it. However, she's overweight, even though I only feed her one-quarter cup of food twice a day. About a half cup total, no snacks. The vet said that because she's spayed she's getting fat. I worry about her weight and know she should be eating wet food too. She drinks water every day, but if I give up on the wet food, will that cause her to have health problems?

The only downside is the price. My cats (I have two) were picky at the beginning with this food, but after a short try period, they are into smalls now. Smalls it's a bit on the dry side, and I was not 100% satisfied at first. I received a courtesy call from small's customer rep after the first order arrived; she suggested heating the food for 10 seconds in the microwave to bring the aroma and juices up. This helped moisturize the food, this tip worked well, and the cats started to eat it afterward. If I could give my cats smalls for each meal, it would be great, but due to the price, I can only give them once or twice a day. I have to complement their meals with dry food and other wet cat food brand. Other than that is a great food for cats if you can afford it.

Of course they kept it up about my orders being delivered. It got so bad I had to tell them 3 different times my cat died.
    STOP ALL ORDERS.

    • @Kyarrix

Avoiding dry food, feeding a healthy wet food and having enough activity are probably the most important things. We adopted a pair of bonded kittens three weeks ago, they're about four and a half months old. Because we don't let them out, we built some vertical space for them in the house, two tall cat trees that are bolted into the wall, one on each side of the entertainment area. They have the trees and the top of the entertainment center and the two bookshelves to walk on. We are also going to build another shelf between the two above the entertainment center that they'll be able to play on. We put down some carpeted material on top so they won't slip and soft pads for them to hang out and sleep on. They love it up there.
We also got them the snugglycat ripple rug which they really like playing with. It's a big rug with another piece on top that attaches with velcro and has different size holes and openings in it. Because it's stiff and has velcro different places you can make valleys and mountains and vary it. It's difficult to describe but you can find it by searching snugglycat the ripple rug.
We try to play with them a couple of times each day for 20 to 30 minutes each time. It seems especially important to do this in the evening to get them tired before feeding them dinner. I watched a Jackson Galaxy video where he talked about following the cat's instincts. Hunt, eat and then sleep. Playing with toys, the kind that you drag and get them to run and jump is the hunt, letting them catch it is the kill, food then sleep.
I think this food would be fine for their weight as long as you feed the wet instead of the kibble. If they are getting a good wet food, have activities that interest them and are overweight, there might be something the vet should address.

Highly disappointed in smalls. I can’t talk on the quality because my trial shipment arrived ruined. It had no chance, even though there was very little insulation. It shipped on Wed, and FedEx estimated Saturday night. 3.5 days to go from NJ to FL? The cooling lasts 3 days max. It was delayed anyways and arrived Sunday morning. Completely warm and dripping water. I have another package coming from the same exact hub that’s actually being overnighted. It shipped Friday and will be here Monday. That’s figuring the weekend doesn’t count for overnight. I’m disappointed in both Smalls and FedEx. But Smalls should have not cheaped out on shipping a frozen item.
