"is you my mama?" . CLASSIC LINE from you. LOL. Godddamn I love you. LOL. Great reaction. And it made my night. You should check out her "Rapture". One of the first rap vids to make it big. Old school.
They really were not sold on disco. Reggae, yes. Even rap, as it evolved. But this is a cleaned-up punk band at heart. It didn't stop Debbie Harry becoming a pin-up (she was already a decade older than my older brother at this point). Different times.
Blondie are a killer band. Super talented and experimental. They dabbled in a lot of different music genres. Debby Harry is an icon. She is the reason I started singing. When I tell you I wanted to be her when I was 12, I am not even kidding. You should check out this band's punk roots before checking out some of the other genres they have dabbled with. Detroit 442 will give you a much more clear taste of who they are.
If they were at the nightclub Studio 54 (one of the New York buildings they showed at the beginning) then there was definitely some 'nose candy' floating around. Also this song is from 1979 when pretty much everybody was doing it. So probably a safe bet...😉
X Offender, Atomic, the all time classic Rapture, Dragonfly, Union City blue, Hangin On The telephone....so many huge hits from this group and Debbie solo. She is one of my punk idols.
Over here picking on Debbie Harry lmao. I love it. Coke --- oh yes, definitely, and weed with a bottle of jack to mix 😆 Love her though. The Queen of Punk they say. They have so many classic songs.
Blondie was a group way ahead of their time. Incorporating punk, new wave, disco, reggae, rap, pop and rock. Lead singer Debbie Harry a true icon. Try Rapture, One way or another, Dreaming, Atomic, Call Me.
Debbie Harry lives not too far from me, and I see her often in the super market. 79 years old now. She's pretty good at blending in public, but when you see those iconic eyes she's still a rock star.
i was on youtube and i sensed something sexy was about to drop and sure enough there was your video with one of my favorite bands...great reaction sexy woman!
Yes, she was lovely. All the guys in the late '70s were in love with her. This had Studio 54 featured in this, so must be late '70s. Her real name is Deborah Harry (sp?), and I think the band is Blondie. Besides being talented, she's a really good human being. A close friend of hers became terminally, and she took care of him for the rest of his life, with her own hands. This is one of the reasons she was suddenly out of 'the scene'. I recommend: Call Me, One Way or Another, and Rapture. And she does look a bit like Michelle Pfeifer. Good eye.
You called all of it out! She a hustler and so much fun to listen to back in the day. We enjoyed her, punk, rap, disco... The young boys were obsessed with her!
Back in the day when there was one channel for new music.....well, we are gonna bring it back. I'll be the producer.....your the first host getting hired.
Hey Bestie. I freaking love Blondie. I used to sing her song One way or another to my daughter chasing her through the house as a toddler and she kill herself laughing. Great reaction girl and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
Blondie is a GOAT, She was friends with Fab Freddy and was the first rap song played on the radio. Girl, you know there was ❄️ involved. Party time All the time 😅😂
She used to wait tables at a restaurant called Kansas City steakhouse in the heart of Greenwich village back in the day , That's where anybody who was anybody hung out including Andy Warhol ! Gurl it was the 80s we was all doing Coca-Cola ! 😜
A song about heartbreak, in a funky punk way, love it. Mainly known as a blonde her hair was actually originally red. A true diva of rock, punk, disco and even rap. A legend. Thanx so much darlin', Peace
A song whose meaning flies under the radar of most listeners: it’s heartbreak because it turned out the guy wanted anal sex. “Mucho mistrust - love’s gone behind.” as she turns her head coyly to look back at him. “Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass.” Which was edited for radio play but fortunately not in this video.
@@balzacfaraday Wow, kinda like The Police | Every Breath You was misinterpreted song about a sadistic stalker, but most took it as a love song. lol. Why I love youtube, can watch and learn more and more about amazing music. Thanx for sharing, Peace
Keisha - Blondie are NY. From Cbgbs - same club as the ramones, talking heads, new yoirk dolls, Patti smith and others. React to Ralture. First hip hop track to chart in mainstream UK chart and maybe US. Same time as grandmaster flash and fab five Friday. Can’t wait. Love your reactions ❤👍🏽👍☘️😎
Debbie Harry was the coolest chick after Grace Slick and Janis Joplin! 😎 You need to check out Blondie's "Rapture". It was the first aong with rap lyrics to reach #1 on the Billboard charts. 😎
This is in no way meant to sound like a slight... But maybe someone here can answer the question for me? It's amazing to know how so many younger people have no knowledge of "older" music... What happened and when did it happen, where parents stopped "handing down" their generation's music to their offspring? I ask, because I'm pushing 60 years old uphill and can say that I actually knew my GREAT GRANDPARENTS who were born in the 1870s... Even they taught me about "their music" , as did my grandparents (Big Band Swing and Honky Tonk/Hillbilly) my parents (50s Pop and Rockabilly) and of course my Aunts and Uncles... They all helped form my knowledge and tastes in music. Is that a rarity, or did that kind of thing just stop happening at some point in time? Thank you in advance for any and all answers! Cheers!
I think the disconnect of passing it along began (generationally) in the 60s. (True also in classical music). It was such a social shift that fomented in the mid to late 50s that it was groundbreaking, for good or bad. (I think good is always the answer!) First among others the Beatles (shocking) then the 70s punk and late punk music out of which Blondie emerged. It is in fact in line with the art scene during that time, more thoughtful than one might think.
It's kind of sad that the band is always overshadowed and underappreciated because of Debbie's looks. I am not a hardcore fan by any means, but they are more significant than people would assume.
I was in my mid-teens when Blondie was at the height of their popularity. I had THE BIGGEST crush on Debbie (lead singer) 😍😍. Unfortunately cocaine, heroin use and intra band relationships/infidelity by the band members destroyed the band.

He liked his reflection.
I didn’t know there was another Enrique Iglesias back then, but then again his dad got busy, with so many around the world.
Everyone either wanted to be Debra Harry or be with her. She is ONE of kind!!!! Mesmerizing beauty and voice!

@kshavon3098 packing to move, working, apartment hunting, doctor visits. Life is stupid.
Big rabbit hole. All kinds of sounds and genres from Blondie. They all sound different but are all banging.
