Debbie Harry is who Madonna wanted to be
Harry had the class Madonna never had.
Blondie was a group way before its time. Incorporating punk, new wave, rap, reggae, pop, rock, disco. Lead singer Debbie Harry a true icon. Try Dreaming, One Way or Another, Rapture, Atomic, Hanging on the Telephone, Call Me, Th hardest part
I loved her "Dreaming" song and video. I also like the song "Call Me" and "One Way...". But her most unusual song is "Rapture" which was my first introduction to "rap" music back in 1981. I view the 90's pop band, Roxette as a kind of a successor to Blondie. Though with more piano and less synthesizer.
Nobody knew she was going to sing in such a high voice, when the started recording. She does not sign that high on her other songs. This is one of the best "Post Punk" bands from the late 70's.
Blonde is the name of the group. The lead singer name is Deborah Harry. This was released in 1979.
Blondie is highly responsible for todays club music
She's an icon influenced so many other artists and fashion
This is from the album Parallel Lines (1978), and it was released as a single in 1979.
Can't lie had a huge teenage crush on Debbie Harry back in the day, they made some bangers.
You, me, and an entire Generation-X teenaged boys. She was a GODDESS!
@@nicholashylton6857 😂😂
The time signature is 4/4 in most of the song, but sometimes the song drops a beat creating a 7/4 measure - or a 4/4+3/4.
Excellent song. Stands the test of time
such a great song! pop punk disco goodness! dbl ♥
Blondie was all over the radio back in the day!
Yes, I was age 15 in 1979. This was their breakout song on radio. I remember hearing it for the first time and wondered who the heck is this?
This was their one-off dabble into the disco fad. I got that “Parallel Lines” album…really good album.
Blondie has a bunch of hits: Call Me, Rapture, One Way Or Another, The Tide Is High, Hanging On The Telephone. Could u react to Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo?
Ring of Fire by Wall of Vodoo
Blondie was one of the earlier punk rock bands
The 54 at the beginning is Studio 54, the most famous club in American history.
Even beating the Copacana Nightclub in my old hometown of NYC 🤮
“One way or another “
My favorite Blondie song, Punkier
Classic 80s right here... Love Blondie!
70's
@@yournamehere6002 A Disco aspect of Blondie tale end of the 70s which was entering the 80s though Disco sounding songs would soon wane... actually kind of canceled partly by the G * Y scene it evolved thru realized... not much changes over time if cancel culture pushes the buttons.
@@yournamehere6002 was 1979 finish the 70s
When this came out there were millions of men who had a crush on Debbie Harry.
If you want a high voice check out Minnie Riperton -Lovin You
Always great, always outrageous, she was a Go Go dancer and Playboy Bunny before becoming a singer.
Union City Blue next!
My favourite is picture this.
I don't know if you have listened to Linda Ronstadt but she was insanely talented and had an amazingly powerful voice. Her ancestry is Mexican and her grandfather owned a music club in Tuscon AZ and her aunt was a singer of classic Mexican songs there. In 1992, Linda performed and recorded many of these Mexican classics as a tribute to her family. It is a great performance to watch. Here is a link: ruclips.net/video/p6kO1EHC8VM/видео.html Linda was also the girlfriend of California Governor Jerry Brown back in the 70-80's.
One of the top bands to come out of NYC's most famous dive bar / club , CBGB's . Blondie was part of the NYC New Wave / Punk scene of the Late 70's that revolved around that legendary NYC club . This song got them on the charts because it crossed over into the then BIG Disco scene ( Google 'studio 54' for info on that ) that was also happening at the time . Those 2 scenes were diametrically opposed so this cross over hit for Blondie was a big shock at the time 🙂
First concert was Journey/Blondie during Infinity tour in the 70s. Loved it so much have seen probably 200 shows since then. Live shows are so good.
checkin in...
Another Blondie song to check out is Dreaming
Dreaming is a great song, do that one next.
You can’t trust love..only love can break your heart
Blonde came out of the best club in America at the time - CBGBs - New York Dolls (no UK punk without them, the ramones. Talking Heads, Patti Smith and others.
Blonde also had the first rap top ten in US and UK, the band promoted the ‘new’ genre and style.
Love your open reactions.
❤️👍🏽👍☘️
Cindi Lauper made a live performance in Paris with her biggest hits at that time in the 80s and if you could react to a couple of her songs in that beautiful performance. Also in the late 80s, U2 had this incredible tour in USA called Joshua Tree Tour. you would be amazed by their performance. It is actually a document movie and I watched this U2 movie in the theater. So please please Cindi Lauper in Paris and U2 Joshua Tree USA tour..
The melody in this song is so ethereal and beautiful and unusual against what the band is playing that it has always given me goosebumps, even as a kid when I'd hear it on the radio. It could be playing from a great distance, out of some far away radio blocks away....and her voice, and that melody will float through the air and into your ears, it's almost eerie. So that's my personal connection to it! :D Huge hit. You said 80s, it's late 70s but you heard it all the time during the 80s, and Blondie continued into the 80s, they're both. PS: The time signature? You were correct! They keep shifting from 8 to 7!
I always focus in on the drumming on this track. I've heard it more times than I care to remember and have got it down to every beat in my head. Unlike a lot of songs that stick to the same rhythm, this one keeps you on your toes with a few changes and intricacies within that make it an interesting song. 'Dreaming', is the one that doesn't give you a break throughout the song as far as the drumming is concerned!
Of course, the song itself is one of those classics from the era. The late 70's and early 80's was a time of transition from disco to more electronica/synthesizer based music, and this song in particular has an interesting fusion of both going on. But then, Blondie tended to do a lot of shifting around with their sound, never really being entirely formulaic, and not being afraid to try a range of different styles. Debbie Harry's voices are unmistakable, of course.
❤
Sunday Girl is a nice one by Blondie and also Hanging on the telephone. The 80's video of Atomic is cool. They did the movie soundtrack for American Gigalo. Iconic 80's. Check it out sometime, or you could react to it. It has a lot of their hit songs in it.
Lady Gaga Madonna all Credit Debbie Harry! (of Blondie) If you'd been around late 70's early 80's the only person you would have heard of is Debbie Harry! ICON!
Peak disco, Blondie has been sampled in alot of hiphop songs
Rapture is awesome too. First rapping in a hit song.
Blondie was the name of the band . You're listening to Debbie Harry pin up of an entire generation! Watch the video to Denis and you'll know why! 😍 😆
Nice song and the beauty of Debbie🤘
Neneh Cherry - Buffalo Stance (Official Music Video). Hip hop/dance music from 1988.
Thank you!
Check out their song "Atomic." It's cool 😎
You should give a Listen to Kim Carnes - Betty Davis Eyes
You have to look to my beloved Sheena Easton ... she is the stunt really!
yaeh, check out more from Blondie; Debbie Harry did great; ok, i wish you'd react to X-offender and/or Denis
NExt, Blondie, Maria
Released in 1979, so damn good guess!
Try their Rapture vid, the very first mainstream rap hit, I believe... Blondie was excellent at sampling & getting big hits in diff genres!
The Sugarhill Gang's song Rapper's Delight was a Billboard top 40 hit a year before Rapture, but, i would hesitate to class Rapture as a rap song. It has one rap verse in it, but what it did do was help a lot to push what was basically a subculture into the mainstream.
sure, @@absibrock.
That's what I meant by "mainstream," but...
Thank you!
@@RNDReacts I would normally recommend Rapture, if you hadn't heard it. But finding out it's a rap song is half the fun. If you already know that, I'd recommend Atomic or Fade Away and Radiate.
The verse is in 4/4 time, the chorus is 3/4.
Check out , Call Me , or , In The Flesh...
My advice to you is when listening to artist from back in the day, you need to listen to more than one song. Please do reactions to multiple songs or even full album reactions. You will definitely see how Blondie and so many artists from that era were so diverse in their style of music.
For example, if a superhero like You, Supergirl or Batgirl were to have a crush or fall in love - it would be ATOMIC!! 😂
A short and incredibly promising career that ended in a serious heroin addiction. What a shame.
big world wide hit. lots variety in vis band, punk, reggae, pop, rock, rap ( first mainstream rap hit) funk, fushion, disco.
Call Me is the next tune you should check out by Blondie!
Nice Videos, you are very charming.
Most of the song is in 4/4 but during the instrumental break they switch to a few bars of 3/4 before going back to 4/4. This change is unexpected, so it comes across as a skipped beat.
I wouldn't say the idea behind the song is inauthentic. Unoriginal, maybe. Love is the most common subject of popular songs, and a lot of them are about love gone wrong. I think they deserve credit for coming up with a new way to express it.
Blondie, one of the best bands ever. I couldn't tell exactly what you were thinking while you were watching the vid, but wow your summary thoughts were SO perceptive. Instant subscribe. If you want to react to a currently working group that's on top of the game, I recommend *Band-Maid, Freedom, Official Live Video.* If you haven't heard of them it would be fantastic if you went in totally blind.
Check out "Rapture "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She used a growling, rough vocal on “One Way or Another,” their second hit song from the same album as “Heart of Glass.” Sounds nothing like “Heart of Glass” but also a good song.
Schowalter Summit
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Try 'Rapture.'
Checkout goast love score
My fav Blondie track is Union City Blues
Dreaming is one of Blondie’s best. Check it out
"Heart of Glass" is a good song but a better taste of the band would be "Call Me". More aggressive.
Lovely to see young people enjoying our music. Try rapture, first really rap music in her song .
"One Way or Another" is my favorite by them. Check it.
You have to checkout their song Rapture!
Truly enjoy your reactions. Here is a suggestion featuring one of the greatest vocal Artists of all time. (No hype - as you will see.) I am sure that you and your listeners will totally enjoy it. He is the Grandfather of soul, whose legendary style is the vocal inspiration for a number other popular artists, including; R Kelly, Rod Stewart, Steve Perry (the lead vocalist of the band - Journey), and many others.

All good in music in America came from brits.
i feel like it was like i like and like it was like
Unless you’re Mariam Margolies don’t criticise.
Recently Miley Cyrus did a cover version of this song in 2020. It appears as a bonus track on her "Plastic Hearts" album.
Better listen to the whole recording first. Get the idea of the whole. Find out if you enjoy listening to it. then go back and assess each section..
Rere, are you o.k?
Yes I'm fine how are you?
I enjoyed this group...but sometimes Debbie Harry looked stoned out of her mind in the videos lol
Stop interrupting and listen !
You have no taste in music if you don't think Debbie Harry is authentic.
She didn't say Debbie Harry wasn't authentic, she was talking -off the cuff - about the lyrics.....which Debbie didn't write! So take your thumb out of your mouth! Reactors are talking, off the cuff, and they're entitled to their opinions! How many great songs did you not like or get when you first heard them, but over time grew on you? Probably a million! (And this reactor liked the track, so calm down!).
Debbie wrote the lyrics to Heart of Glass.
