The meter readings at eight minutes are not reading percentages. That meter only reads percentages with the external pins, which are not being used. Now that area might be wet compared to other areas, but those are not percentages of moisture content.

It is a pinless meter. It does read moisture readings as a percentage in the pinless mode
      It is the extech 290

Hello Shane, I am trying to help out my mom, she is definitely in the low income/low house price category. She is located in the TX panhandle. Her insurance company has denied the claim for the sewage saying in TX it is not covered. Do you have any tips on how to navigate those waters? Is there an arbitration process? Her insurance company said they would not pay for another estimate since they already have one. I know the company she is working with already tore out the flooring in her bathroom where the smell was the worst. They also had the dehumidifiers in there, so there definitely had the water damage part you referred to in the video. Supposedly it was galvanized sewer pipe that literally flaked apart. I am a DIY person, but I know very little about plumbing and last thing I want to do is repair it wrong, so we definitely need help. She's on dialysis and just got diagnosed with cancer, so she needs all the help she can get. The quote she got from a plumber was $15k. She bought her house for $65k only a few years ago and I'm making the monthly payments for her because she is living on just SSI. Thank you for any help, I know she's not in your service area, just looking for some tips on how to get the insurance company to reconsider. Thank you!

Next time just say extraction - may help
      Carriers are erratic

Hi Shane, i was wondering if the total amount that you charged for that job was 10k, do you also handle large animal damage claims? they get paid easly.

This was a great video, very informative. How would this job change if it ended up just being a rusted lead pipe that cause the loss? Would you just get the fee for the extraction from the insurance company and then work out a cash pay for the rest of the job with the customer?

Being vague still but use more extreme PPE, that's what I would do. I always assume the worst. I won't even go into a drying chamber without a respirator cause of the airflow of unknown contamination.

re: what to do if it is just a rusted leaking pipe....
First off let me say this... I can't think of a scenario where I couldn't find a plausible scenario in which it shouldn't be a covered claim.
I look and look and look... something will normally become apparent if you look hard enough.
If we didn't find something conclusive that pointed to a sudden and accidental break we would normally present the case to the adjuster that things are "still inconclusive" and then offer him a chance to pay for a second round of treatment so we can do some further analysis. They would take us up on this which would help the claim get paid.
Worst case scenario we would just allow the customer to pay the balance to complete the work (use bracket selling here too)
      make sense?
