Eva Cassidy tragically died young in 1996 and is treasured to this day. Lucy’s covers most often honor the singers and performances she reveres the most.
I have heard people say that this version of Over the Rainbow is like a lullaby, and when you have Lucy Thomas sing it, I believe it. The song was just beautiful.❤😊 Good reaction, Zooty!
"Lucy's always her stunning self and beautiful voice so I'm pretty sure that she could take probably anything and make it sound good." I agree with that 100%. There is no-one like Lucy. She is unique and alluring in her expression.
It was better than good. Lucy is a brilliant singer with the chops to back it all up. She exceeds my expectations with every new song release. This is a birth of greatness that is being bestowed upon us. 👍❤️
As Ray wrote, Lucy did a more than beautiful cover of " Somewhere" from west side story. She is born for musicals no matter if stage musicals or movies. I think she wants , not only to sing , but to deliver messages of goodness, tenderness, altruism, ....( If you do not believe, see her videos). So what is better than musicals to do it?
Lucy has a large musical knowledge. She knows how to find " gems" . She always credit the singer who inspired her to do a cover. As you mentioned once, Lucy biggest success is "Allelujah" . But her performance is not based on Leonard Cohen version. Lucy noted in the description of her video a name : Alexandra Burke. I did not knew this singer. I went to look at her interpretation and I understood why Lucy version is completely different than the original. Even if I still love more Lucy's voice, I think , some credit has to be given to Alexandra👍
Hearing Lucy sing "Somewhere........" reminds me to ask if you will review her version of "Somewhere" from West Side Story, which is stunning. Incidentally, Eva's version of this song was and still is my favourite.

Lovely reaction ty! Make you feel my love by Bob Dylan and covered by Adele. Beautiful song
Robbie did a comparison video that "crushed" completely Adele.

So funny, when I hear Eva's version I often get a tear or two, but for Lucy ............no tear.
Sadly Eva passed away through melonoma 4 years after releasing her version of this in 1996.

Nice but Eva's version is much better.
You're welcome to your opinion of course. I think Lucy's is better. Everyone is different 🙂
