24:29 Damn, at this point it's not just pure greed but basically necessary because if Samsung falls Korea is super fucked. How do you even dig out of this hole at this point.

Samsung is just too big not to fail. Unlike SK, Samsung isn't locked by geography. They could just... move to a different country to continue it's empire. So it's not even guaranteed that SK won't be fucked if they try to please samsung by actively helping their growth. It's honestly really dystopian.

@@noobymooby-ty8gh moving to another country and controlling their politicians like that isn't easy especially since most countries have some kind of protectionism laws that favor domestic companies rather foreign ones. If what you're saying is that simple then they would've done it already

@ quickly how many times has NK gone to war in the past 80 years and how many times were US soldiers deployed and died in wars in that time?
Second of all the mandatory military service is 3- but can be extended to 12 years not 10-13.
Third and most important; Don’t compare conscripted Korean border soldiers to dying for Opium in Afghanistan or getting shredded by an Iraqi IED for oil your conscription and their conscription are not the same.
Y‘all didn’t get vaporized in Vietnam, made 27 million crybaby war movies to now pretend like it’s more shitty to be a Korean soldier that hasn’t seen active fighting in the better half of a century 💀🫵
There‘s a reason 44(!) US military vets commit the funny each day on average, may god have mercy on their souls

I feel bad for people in South Korea, and in south east Asia in general. Y’all are playing on hard mode, nothing but respect. I just wish we could do something to make your lives better, but…eh, what can I do? I’m just an autistic American, I’ve never been to South Korea. I do find the culture fascinating, and y’all make some pretty cool stuff. I’m even learning Korean. But…like many places in the world, we have social issues that need to be fixed ASAP. Also, you know another good thing that’s from Korea? The animation! I’ve only seen a few animated Korean shows, and they are pretty fun…I love it. But, yeah, the work culture needs fixing. Can we just stop overworking people and putting pressure on them, please!? Like, when I was in school, I was so stressed and anxious, I couldn’t focus properly, I could barely eat or sleep, and i almost ended myself, but thankfully my dad stopped me. I don’t want anyone to experience that much stress, ever! We need to stop this nonsense. God please you South Koreans, I’ll pray for your country to get better…you deserve a better life.

Nobody is saying you're personally to blame? Its just that Kpop, just like any art, works as good propaganda/PR for its country of origin, but the people reap the benefits of their culture being exported except for the corporations and state exploiting them who will rake in millions.
The fact that you didn't even know about this is the entire point- if you like Anime, you should be aware of the working conditions of animators in Japan or knowing that our clothes are made by kids in sweatshops. If not enough people know, you can't even begin the conversation of what needs to be done

Japan has extremely bad work life balance, constant unpaid overtime and very strict hierarchal structure within the work place that squeezes the will to live out of their employees.
Korea also suffers from this but also suffers from extreme academic pressure/competition. A Japanese person will look upon their school year fondly while a Korean won't even have that.

you cant be criticising people for enjoying kpop when you have an anime waifu collection behind you lol, its hypocritical cause anime fans do the same thing about Japan. also BTS have talked about and criticised SK's systems through their music and raised awareness to people around the world about these issues they wouldn't have otherwise known about along with other musicians from Korea. Of course romantisising Korea and treating it like a wonderland isn't good to do but the people who do that are often young teens who are often ignorant about a lot of stuff and its from the international selling of Korean culture by Koreans to generate wealth for their country who are the ones spreading that image to the world

    • @thestoop-downman4519
