I worked with John Astin in the early 90’s. He never claimed to be Sean’s biological father, but he adopted him and raised him. John is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.
I remember my mum telling me whilst watching the Goonies that Sean was Gomez's step son lol I thought it was always known that John wasn't his biological father

Sean Astin is a very likable and endearing person. I'm sure he got much of that from both his mother and step dad. It must have been fun having Gomez Adams as his dad! John Astin is 97 years old❤

John Astin was a great actor and had a long career. Although he was not Sean's biological father, the two had a great relationship.
The last time I checked, which was not too long ago, John Astin is alive and still active. Even though he didn't have the popularity he once had, the longevity of his acting career makes him a living legend.
It is actors like him who I cherish the most. And the relationship he has with Sean and Mackenzie makes him even more successful.

@@marilyndee969 although there are several articles stating he is still alive there is an obituary stating that he passed away April 30th. So there is a lot of conflicting information on whether he's alive or dead I'm no longer sure

I met Sean back in 2017, and we talked about parents. Both his mother and my mother dealt with depression, so we talked briefly about it. Afterwards we talked about his Dad being from my hometown and at the time his Dad was a professor at Johns Hopkins University in the theater department. Mackenzie would often help out their Dad with some things. When I was mentioning John to him, he had a smile on his face. He loves his Dad and vice versa.

Beautiful..my dad died when I was 4. My step dad has been there since I was 5. My step dad is MY DAD. Im so grateful. He's the BEST DAD ever..he shows up for me and my siblings. No matter biological. He is here for my mom who is very ill. EVERYDAY He shows what true love is and how to be a.good person and do the right thing. MY DAD IS THE BEST DAD. IM GRATEFUL AF.

I've met John Astin many times, he lives in my neighborhood and he said Patty Duke was pregnant when they met and he said ok, and raised the child as his own. That child was Sean Astin he also has a son named MacKenzie that lives with him.

Sean's biological father had no idea he existed because Patty Duke was insistent that John Aston was his father. Patty Duke denied the results of the DNA test until the day she died, apparently she wanted to pretend that 2 week marriage to Tell never happened and denying he was Sean's father helped her live a lie. Tell never had a chance to be Sean's father because Patty Duke never told him about Sean's birth...

I heard of something happening lately with Chinese girls who were adopted into America by parents who didn't want girls. The now elderly parents are showing up at the now grown women thinking they're going to pull the "traditional responsibility" card and get the daughter to take care of them. The women, raised with American values, tell them to fuck off instead.
I saw John Astin do a Edgar Allen Poe performance,in Baltimore. He was fabulous! I'll never forget it!

Patty refused to accept the results of the DNA tests. She maintained that it was Desi Jr., not short timer Michael Tell was Sean's papa. Desi has more social standing than Michael and there are still lingering animosity between Patty and Michael.

Since it wasn't a virgin birth, a man was involved. In this case, Sean's dad is John and his biological father is Michael. Patti thought she hadn't been with Michael long enough to get pregnant, but she had been with at least three men around the same time.
Sean is blessed that John raised him and they still consider each other father and son. From all accounts, Sean is an upstanding man and that is attributed to both his parents, Patty and John.
Sean is very compassionate. Many children cannot handle a parent with mental health issues because it isn't easy dealing with that growing up. It can leave a mark on you and make you not want to deal with them anymore. He speaks respectfully about his parents.

I think I know how he feels. I Loved and was Loved by 3 amazing Fathers; My Adopted Dad, My Step-Dad (who was my Birth Mother’s Husband)and my Birth Father. I only ever called my adopted Dad, “Dad”. He was the only Dad I really knew. He was already over 50 years old (my age now!!)when they adopted me and I’ve always thought that he was so incredibly Brave! I can’t imagine taking on an 18 month old toddler..Yikes!!😱 I think his age helped make him a better Dad. He was always so much more relaxed and patient than some of my friends younger Dads. We were super close though and remained that way until he passed away just a couple of months shy of his 100th Birthday. I just couldn’t bring myself to call anyone else Dad and I’m so happy that I didn’t! HE was Dad. Sometimes you’ve no other choice but to do what you know is right for you and follow your heart(Love You, Miss You Dad!♥️♥️♥️)

Shawn looks such a great deal like his mother and I am sure he is an excellent actor because she is his mother. And let’s not forget his father John Austin, who is definitely one of my favorite actors in my lifetime. I miss Patty so much and I miss John.. I’m so happy that Shawn is an actor and while I have not seen his specific movies, I will rent them so I can watch him because of where his mother And father. 🎉😊❤
