    I really enjoy watching your craftsmanship, so thank you for sharing! I have to ask though, given the time and effort these restorations/repairs take, and what your time, skill and knowledge must be worth, would it not be cheaper to buy a new pair of boots? I’m not saying your time isn’t worth it, quite the opposite, by all appearances these boots are better than new. These videos are causing me to look more closely at my own boots and appreciate them more.

    Do you have a more full-fledged video of how you did the uppers on a shoe that was as old and worn and scuffed up as this one? I have a shoe that's in similar state visually, and would love to see it get the love it needs. I'm not looking get them to a mirror shine (boots don't lend themselves to mirror shines, do they?), just make them look like good well-cared for boots.

    I still don’t understand why American shoemakers only stitch the front of the sole and nail the back instead of stitching all the way around. It’s like furniture makers using cardboard backing-cutting corners to save costs. When I showed my 1,000 Mile boots to a French cobbler, he pointed out the shoddy manufacturing, and I was disappointed but had to agree. European Goodyear boots are much better made and sold for almost the same price. It's very disappointing.

    Just another case of 'good quality boots will last for years'! Having worked in various heavy industries, I've told a lot of guys along the way 'if you aren't putting down half-a-week's wages or more for boots, you are buying 'temporary shoes' that MIGHT last half-a-year. Good boots are repairable, rebuildable and worth the 'front investment'...Whites, Danners, even Red Wings...but if 'Goodyear Welt' doesn't get mentioned, I normally pass by the 'wallie world' junk...it's just not worth it.

    I wish you guys...with your sense of quality, and style, would make an everyday, light use but long wearing lace up boot. Not too dressy, not to work inspired, but a boot you can wear everyday, like a sneaker. Cross between a 1000 Mile and a Thursday boot. Keep it a reasonable price like a Red Wing. Keep it generic design and colors. So it can be replicated easily. Think iPhone...where they tell the consumer what they like. An everyday is needed. Boot manufacturers worry too much about Sprint runs, one offs, etc. I just wish they would make a boot that is always a fallback, always a given. Just something you buy because they are reliable, and never go out of style, like a pair of Levi's. Thanks guys! Soon as my Red Wings, 1000 Miles, or Chippewa boots need resoled. I will be sending them to you!

    Hello Trenton, Hello Heath. Your entire story is really impressive, and should serve as an inspiration to young people everywhere. That you followed a passion, made a sacrifice and took a risk is testament to your success and hopefully continued growth. I am a business owner, which I set up with a budget of ZERO and a borrowed computer. Nearly 20 years later it's still going, and still growing. People ask how it's done, and by watching you I know you've used the same formula as me: Belief, passion, and most importantly, hard work. There's no other way around it. I have a pair of C&J SHell Cordovan boots, I wonder if they'd work with a nice leather sole? I know they're boots, but I like to wear them with a suit, and can't help but think a nice fiddle waist would look incredible. Any thoughts on such a change?

    In every shoe restoration I have seen in tube, shoes looks like owner hasn't cared them a bit. I just wonder why people buy 200 to 500$ boots and then don't take care of them. Of course soles wear out but whole boots look like they've been picked from dumpster and used 20+ years before they've been thrown out. These shoes might be comfy but doesn't give any support to feet.
    It isn't hard to take care of your investment as Trenton & Heath have shown. I have 20 year old winter boots and 10 year old work boots and they look better than these. Of course those boots are just 200€ boots and with cemented rubber soles. It is important to rotate shoes and let them dry and they last longer.

    • @Brucaleeffo
      @Brucaleeffo 5 лет назад

      I think this would be around 100\120$, but you only need a complete resole of the whole thing once the welt opens up. These are work\casual boot, so they naturally take lots of stress with more use, but it may take years to get shoes in those conditions. The regular repair you'll have to do is the replacement of the heel exterior part (one of the 2-3 layers you see) once in a while, depending on your boots rotation and walking habits.

  • @uncleronny6748
    @uncleronny6748 3 года назад

    I feel comforted that not everything has to be made in stinking China through your videos. I think what you were trying to say is those heel block nails are 'ring shanked' like some carpentry nails. An example of where you would use these in my trade are on a gate that sees repetitive slamming that would cause a smooth shank nail to slowly back out.

    Great job with this boot restoration project. It’s nice to see that you use quality products throughout the process. Saphir products are about as good as you can get. Nice job with the video! Keep up the good work.

    Lol I was laying in bed watching and I hear the hello gentlemen and I turn around and tell my husband “Pfft, he’s not being inclusive.” Mostly as a joke, I like to joke with him that I love how the youtuber from The Report of the Week makes everyone feel acknowledged, even my furbabies with his greeting at the beginning of his videos. So anyway he just smiles and goes back to sleep and I scroll down to comments and see others pointing out that it’s not only gentlemen watching. Lol I laughed out loud and woke him up again.
    I love that in the newest videos you’ve included ladies.
    I appreciate that.
    I have found a new binge worthy channel and have shared your videos with my siblings and parents.
    My family is from Guanajuato, México and the state is known for its leather and shoe making along with the mummies.
    My dad always wanted to learn this trade or rather this artistry but never did and now he gets to watch it at least through youtube.
    He doesn’t understand a word but watches none the less.
    #EndRant lol thank you guys.

      Sui Caedere Haha...we really appreciate you watching...and for sharing our videos with others! 😉 Of course ladies are welcome as well. We weren’t sure, when we first got started, if women would enjoy these repair videos, but our female subscriber base has definitely been growing. 👍🏻 Hopefully these videos are helpful for everyone. Thanks again!

    Hello! I’d love to know what kind of long lasting shoes/boots and work shoes/boots you recommend for women. It’s so easy to find these kinds of shoes for men but I’ve been having trouble finding some made for me
    Love what you do, I’d appreciate the help, xx

    Y’all ever resole a pair of these 1000 miles with a wedge? I know they make a wedge version now but I’m curious how they’d look or compare if they were resoled with a wedge instead.

    Makes me wonder how many miles I've put on my boots...had em for five years and all i ususally gotta do is replace the insoles and they're good for a good while. But I usually walk an average of like a couple of miles a day at work..sometimes up to 17 miles a day
