THANK GOODNESS you took down that huge dying tree near the house, or you might have a different outcome for Cedar Grove. Glad everyone is safe. It will be back together in no time, I'm sure.
IMHO, you need a chain saw. Not necessarily for this job, but for the future. You have old trees and they will continue to come down. I'm not saying to risk your life of course, but it's silly to pay someone if a large limb comes down and you can just as easily dispose of it yourself. This could be a blessing. Make sure your arborists lets you keep the wood chips. Hardwood makes wonderful mulch for your garden beds! Spread it around for paths and planting beds. It nourishes the soil! Cheers from North Carolina
You are so cool, calm and collected after going through the storm and the resulting major damage to your property! So glad your house wasn't damaged, and you are safe!
Divine guidance when you removed the tree by the house!! So many are suffering in S.C. and Ga. so as you stated you are lucky that the house was not damaged and you are safe. Keep us updated.
I am so grateful that your home road the storm out wonderfully. I am sorry for the loss of the trees and the damage to the Pool House. This shall be a memory one day. If my Left hand was not in stitches and bandages I would gladly come and assist with your clean up. You are actually achieving a goal I have always wanted to do by restoring an old Plantation home. Please keep us all updated and thank you for sharing this journey.
So sorry that you have all this to deal with. Thankfully no harm to structures. I suggest buying a generac for the power outages. I live in a rural area of WV and they’re pretty frequent here.
You are a trooper! We had a rough couple of hours in central NC, but none of our 40 old pines came down. The pool was a mess but that’s nothing. Just a suggestion, you might want to lose a few more trees when the guys come to remove downed ones. There will be more storms, I promise!
Bless your heart. You will get things back on track & it will be gorgeous in time. Lived on the Gulf Coast for 26 years & left our homes numerous times to avoid hurricanes. Stayed for two & was without power. Buy a generator that is built in to the house so you don't have to fiddle with turning it on. Keep provisions that don't need refrigeration. Prayers for you.
You are incredibly upbeat after such a huge hit. You are smiling and counting your blessings, which is so impressive. You have my best wishes going forward.
You and cedar grove were on my mind as the storm came our way in Atlanta last night, because she turned east we were spared but you guys were not. So glad to see no trees hit the house though🙏thanks for showing us firsthand with a video! Wishing you a quick cleanup❤️
As everyone has stated....your intuition about that tree by your house and addressing it quickly was so smart! Hate seeing trees down, we lost 3 very old (150+ years old) Pecans during Beryl, and he was only a Cat 1. HELENA was an angry girl. Glad you are safe
Oh, Brian! I went from joy that you had posted a new episode to the depths of despair when I realized what your video is about! It's a mixed bag of anguish and gratitude that the damage was not centered on the house. But....so much progress erased. I'm sick for the trees and renovations damaged and Your Pool but relieved that you weren't injured and the damage to the house may be minimal (the roof/attic leak!!!). Your attitude is admirable. Seeing you smile in the midst of the destruction is evidence of a spirit of gratefulness that is a reward and brings reward.. I'm sorry for the things lost while relieved that not all was lost.
Having lived through several rounds of tornado decimation, I know what you’re feeling. You did your house the biggest favor by taking that tree down initially. Life will get better as soon as you get power back and a path to the outside world again. You now have your own chapter in the history of that fabulous property. ❤️
We walked by your former residence in Alexandria last weekend during The Twigg's 82nd House Tour and thought how beautiful it was. We've been watching you restore this beautiful historic property in SC and we're sad to see all of the damage, but glad you and the house survive. Hang in there!
I'm glad you are ok. So sorry about all those trees. You are probably lucky that you took that huge one down close to the house. Thank you so much for sharing. Good to see the power company coming to help.
Whew! A big mess for sure and it’s a pity to lose big trees. I’m glad the house missed any real damage. Perhaps it is good that the portico had not been restored yet. Please take care in the recovery. We learned a lot after Hugo back in ‘89 that you’d never have guessed - including things like bees being disturbed or attracted to the sawn trees.
Oh Brian, you had the tree 🌲 beside the house removed just in time! I’m so sorry you lost so may of your beautiful remaining trees, those winds were hitting hard. On the bright side, I’m impressed with strength of the house to remain unshaken. I loved 🥰 your pool house so I’m thankful it wasn’t smashed under that tree. Thanks for sharing, and we are all glad that you are ok and made it through the storm ⛈️
Oh no!! But I love how you’re taking it in stride! It’s always something. It could’ve been worse and great that the main house wasn’t significantly damaged! Love following the progress of Cedar Grove!
WOW!!! This is some major damage. I’m so glad you all are ok. The house be repaired or replaced. This is a lot of clean up, but worth it if it means you were spared. God bless you!
Brian, you have such a positive outlook no matter what happens. Years ago the top third of our neighbors tree cracked off and landed in our yard. It was more than my husband and I could tackle on our own. I knew a tree service would be expensive, but what can you do? When I came home from work, everything was gone. It was like it never happened. Of course you lost A LOT of trees, so the situation is so magnified. All the best and I will keep watching.
Very sad to see all the damage from Helene. So glad Cedar Grove was spared and you are safe. Such a shame to see the loss of old growth trees. Take care Mr Brian. Oh the Pool House porch is looking very fabulous !
I’m glad the damage was not worse than what happened. I’m so sorry this is a setback but you’re so dedicated to this I know you’ll have everything back soon. Thank you for the update and stay safe!
I love that you're always so positive! I'm sure it's very disappointing, but you'll be back on track in no time. You've done an amazing job with the renovation so far!
I’m so very sorry to see all of this! I’m in Virginia but fortunately-no issues in my area. Prayers that you get power back so life can get back to normal for you. Thankful your lovely home was spared.
Brian! OMG!! I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida near Sarasota so I have an idea of how damaging this storm was.....but OMG....thank goodness you removed that huge tree from the front of your house! So glad you were safe! I feel so bad for all your damage because I know how hard you have work to get things looking beautiful. Believe me if we were neighbors, I certainly would be there to help in the clean up! Take care and I look forward to your next video. Hugs! :)
We are in the process of cleaning up as well and had huge trees uprooted. But we are happy our house was not hit. Another year and another hurricane. Constant cleaning and rebuilding - your not alone so hang in there! Victoria🌹
I live in Florida. It was a massive destructive deadly storm. I can’t believe how much damage it did through so many states. My neighborhood has been trying to clean up all day. Much more to go. So many huge tress down. Debris every where. So many still without power. Not our first rodeo tho. Praying for you and all those dealing with this mess. And prayers to those who lost loved ones 🙏🏼
I live in Aiken. It will be a while before anyone that has electricity through Aiken Electric Co-op has power. Estimates are about a week. Good luck. We are all in the same boat. Glad your damage was not worse.
Nothing wins against Mother Nature. You just have to be thankful for what didn’t happen. With all those trees down your gardens next year will be different, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Nice exterior paint color. Soft, yet happy. Keep up your spirits.
You have such a great attitude!!! So glad the house is good. Wish my family could come to help. NE is a bit of a jaunt. Praying your power is restored quickly! Sending love!!!
OMG! Goodness me. Thank goodness you are alright. I hope there is not too much damage. You and Luke will get things on track again. Take care, y'all. From England. 🇬🇧
Oh no! So sorry! I just watched your Homeworthy episode a couple days ago. As bad as it is, I'm relieved for you that it wasn't worse - and that you're ok!
Hi. I’m sorry see this happen to you during your renavation but thank God your ok that most important my friend . By the you look good in your baseball cap 😊take care ..
We had down trees here on Lake Norman NC but nothing like what the mountains and Asheville is experiencing right now. Overall we are the lucky ones and can remove trees and move forward. Wish you well and hope power is back soon. ❤
So glad to see your beautiful home escaped damage. The downed trees might actually have saved you from removing them at some point. The pool house will benefit from a new porch. All in all you are very lucky.
I’m glad you are safe and didn’t sustain more damage than you did! We live in Ashe county NC, a little north of Boone. It’s so sad to see the devastation here and the whole area. I hope your family is okay. We just got power back today. It will be quite a while before this county is back to normal.
So happy you are okay and that the house is okay too! She's a tough old girl! Keep your head up, and I bet you'll still have everything in order for Christmas! Sending prayers your way from Kentucky!
Oh Brian! What a terrifying experience! I'm glad you are safe....but the pool and pool house!! (Where, BYW, I was looking forward to staying one day!!LOL) is just horrific! I'm so so sorry! I guess you're done swimming for this year. I'm thinking a generator is in your future! And, actually, it does look pretty bad... I thought the Carolinas would be safe from this hurricane, but this is a good indicator for your preparations for the future. If I could, I'd be there in a heartbeat to help clean up! If there is anything I, as a dedicated viewer and fan can do, please let me know...
Just found your channel this week, and have been really enjoying your videos. I am so sorry you got hit by the storm, but glad you are not hurt and that nothing fell on the house!
So sorry to hear and see this. The good thing is nothin fell on the house and no structural damage from what I see. The trees needed a trim it seems like but wow what a mess is left so sorry. Thank God you’re okay. Trees will grow just give them some tree food now that they got limbed up. Prayers go out to you and all those affected by this storm. Take care Brian it’s going to be okay.
Was concerned about you and the house ! In north Florida ( lake city area), we had wind from 85-115 mph ! 1.5 “ rain and no power for three days( now on ) continual utility trucks and support vehicles too going by nearby highway ! Few limbs and lots of debris ,.. and I mean lots ! Blessed it didn’t affect house although lots of trees ( big ones) everywhere. Be safe and observe your surroundings folks !
Hope the power is restored soon. New to your channel and look forward to the restoration and cleanup! Take good care. Tanya in Alexandria who still misses your old town home IG posts ❤
That old house along with many other old houses in South Carolina have been through hurricanes like that many times in the past and will do so in the future. Just have to remove trees away from structures. My old house in Charleston went through the the great fire of 1861; the Civil War; the 1886 earthquake, more hurricanes and floods and Hurricane Hugo in 1989 which finally crashed the roof in and thus after that, a totally brand new house inside in 1990 with the 1806 brick exterior and chimneys the only parts original. The staircase or parts of it, maybe. Disasters just keep coming and you can only do what you can do to preserve the building(s).
Oh Brian, I was thinking about you guys knowing the storm would probably hit your area. I’m so sorry. I can’t believe the scaffolding is still standing! If I was closer I’d bring my chain saw and start helping you clear the trees. I’ve had a large property in the past and storm/tree damage so i certainly commiserate with you both. Onward and upward! I’m thinking the little girl ghost protected the house👍 👻

Thank heavens you took that big tree out before the storm. Prayers coming your way.
Divine guidance when you removed the tree by the house!! So many are suffering in S.C. and Ga. so as you stated you are lucky that the house was not damaged and you are safe. Keep us updated.
I’m glad you’re unscathed and still able to laugh. Cedar Grove will recover, as she always has.

Oh my Goodness! so thankful you and the house are safe !! If we all lived closer we would be there to help with the clean up ! Blessings ,Paula
It's a pity to loose so many old trees, but on the bright side you will have heaps firewood for ages.
You're so calm about everything!! Glad you're safe.
Thankful that you are safe,.Praying for restoration of your peace during this stressful time.

We feel your pain up here in Spartanburg. It is like a war zone and many homes with damage, some smashed in two. Be safe and God bless you!
I love that you're always so positive! I'm sure it's very disappointing, but you'll be back on track in no time. You've done an amazing job with the renovation so far!

Oh WOW. So sorry! Love that your outlook is so bright after a wallop like that. You’re amazing. ❤ Prayers for you as you begin to pick up the pieces.
I’m so relieved that y’all are ok. It appears luck is on your side. Please keep us posted.
Glad you made it. Such a crazy destruction path the storm took. I could see the stables also had a large tree down
Glad you are OK! Love Denise
Wow. So sorry. Glad the damage isn’t even worse. This will slow you down but you will recover thankfully. 🙏🙌

Omg! I'm so sorry! We have had some hard winds and intense winds up here in East Tennessee. Hang in there! Sending prayers your way!
I meant "intense rains." I'm so glad that you weren't hurt!
Glad you’re okay. It was scary for sure.
Oh wow, as bad as it looks, you were fortunate. Looks like pool season is over. 😮
So sorry for the loss of so many trees.
Praying for you to recover.
So sorry for your trees!
Oh Brian, I was thinking about you guys knowing the storm would probably hit your area. I’m so sorry. I can’t believe the scaffolding is still standing!

I’m thinking the little girl ghost protected the house👍 👻
I am heartbroken for you ,I am in East Tennessee and it looks like a War Zone 🍂🍁
So sorry, just what you didn’t need 😩
My rule take down any tree that can hit your home if it goes down
Plant flowering trees or evergreen trees in their place
The left over trees could be compost.
