I lived in South Padre Island from 2002 to 2008. I snorkeled all the time. The jetties had the best snorkeling. Most days had enough visibility for a fun dive. Occasionally we would get a few days of Caribbean quality clarity.
I'm a scuba diver and I love to Snorkel when I can. Now that I know their is a snorkel spot in Texas, it gets me excited. Now I won't have to drive down to Florida anytime I want to snorkel or dive with my Camera. Also what ever you do, don't call your fins flipper to a scuba diver. Most will get piturbed or laugh.
I have been wintering in Baja for years and they have tons of stingrays and larger rays. Great clarity and tons of fish that you can walk in to the water and see. Is there anything better than this around there?
"Today's Port Aransas sea temperature is 74 °F." if a cold front comes through, that temp could easily dop another 10 degrees... www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Port-Aransas/seatemp
South padre is where I go twice a week and I’ve been all over I saw a puffer fish I saw a sting ray at the bridge on the bay the water was like 12 or 15 feet deep I’m a kid so it was cool I even got to go too a mini island and it had a bunch of conch shells
tyree bruce never mind..found it on your website..really love these videos but from someone who grew up on SPI I love that one..there is NO place on Earth like it..IT is a wonderful episode and I watched again..brought back such nostalgia..now I want one of those cinnamon rolls and some Shrimp.(pier 19)..my cousin worked on a shrimp boat so he was able to bring home shrimp all the time..we were spoiled rotten..never realized how cruddy the shrimp is anywhere else..hardly any flavor..if you want shrimp...go to the Island...anything else is a weak substitute!
Hey so is that boat with the burgers available for rent? If so, please share their information. Id like to visit and try, especially the water being shallow as I'm not big on deep water. Thanks
Oh my goodness!! I'm a Houstonian and a vlogger as well - I just found out about you from your post on Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary - I made a vlog of my trip there as well as my trip to South Padre (close to where my hubs grew up). I'm passionate about travel but all sorts of other things as well - I'm subscribing and would love if you sub back! Let me know if you are ever looking to collaborate with TX vloggers! :) Here's my Padre video! I'm watching this to see if you actually saw anything snorkeling - my hubs is an avid diver and won't let us snorkel in Padre - he said it's too murky LOL. I'm checking out your video now! Cheers! ruclips.net/video/VAwuJwyWXG8/видео.html

We also saw some blow fish and jelly fish (July 2022). It was fun!
That's actually pretty good water clarity and snorkeling conditions for Texas. For the U.S for that matter, outside of Florida.
Yep - I was super surprised, but without currents kicking up silt, it's really clear.
I was thinking the same.

Saw this today, my folks used to live on S. Padre in a tent when they first met back in '82. They were quite surprised at the development!
I live 75 miles West from SPI. I'm glad y'all had fun! ✌
i live 34 miles from south padre island 👍🏽
It's sea or some lake?
Ok, maybe this is a ridiculous question..I will be down there around Christmas time..would snorkeling be an option then? maybe with a spring wetsuit?

That looks so fun! I'm here in La Jolla, and we have fairly good conditions --- would love to give Texas a try!
