I’m blown away with your talent! You give me inspiration, please do not stop the detailed informational videos, I love them and appreciate them! Thank you sir!
Happy to see YOUR school back. Though I still watch your older videos again and again as I try to improve my technique. It’s extraordinary how simple it seems while watching but a much different result as I try to emulate your brushstrokes. But I have noticed improvements and will keep at it until I get it correct. It’s lovely watching paint splotches of blocking-in evolve into a fantastic result. This is the joy to me. Thank you for helping me to become a better artist.
Thank you Michael, you are the best, I really enjoy your lessons, you are a very good teacher. I love trees and nature, with you I appreciate it even more... if it was possible. The fact that your dad is painting by your side is very touching for me.I hope sometimes you read my comments. Have a great day.
I'm Texan, so out of respect for Michael, and Brits everywhere, I let my Shiner Blonde long-neck warm up to room temp before I downed it. I'm sure that wasn't the right thing to do. 🤣 I love my beer cold, ICE cold, in a frosted mug cold. Thank you MJS for everything you so freely share. It's always very helpful and much appreciated. 😊👍👍
I'm American also. Been following MJS since before the school started. But I'm having Jack Daniels Single Barrel at the moment. Don't worry: I never drink and paint.

I am Brazilian and my drink was a cup of coffee. Thanks Michael for your generosity.
Very excited that you will have a new website. I hope that you will launch a new art school as well. You are really a genius and your enthusiasm for painting and for your students is ever inspiring
I’m just curious, have you alway used an acrylic colour under your oils to block in ? I block in oil using liquid, and wait. Maybe I should invest in acrylic paint, speed things up a bit.
Hi. Michael. I have been watching your channel so long. It has been very helpful. thanks. anyway, everytime I try to paint in detail with thin brush, the very thin stroke is hardly to be put on canvas. do you know why? (I am using acrylic paint)
Your great talent is a thing of wonder! I enjoy your videos enormously. I’ve never dared try landscapes before but now I’m deeply immersed in trying your technique. Thank you!
I've really appreciated your videos and have learned sooo much from your techniques. Thank you for sharing your insights and talents! Your paintings are so realistic and beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your techniques, your videos are BRILLIANT to learn by. I have purchased the Rosemary & Co Brush's and the Liquin which has changed my life so thank you so, so, so much for showing what you use to paint your beautiful pictures with. Your my number one favourite painting instruction artist. Thank you again and please keep posting your lessons they are a highlight to my day :)
Thanks so much for these tutorials! I'm an acrylic artist but have been able to apply some of your techniques that have helped me to improve greatly. Appreciate your kindness in sharing your gift! 😊
As always, an absolute pleasure to watch and thank you for a great choice in music... more often than not I'm forced to mute do to noise rather than melody 😉👍 love seeing your dad painting / working in the background of your shared studio. How fortunate the two of you are ❤
I always eagerly await your videos and they never fail to help me with my own painting. Thank you for sharing your techniques with the world. You are truly a master of your craft. Your paintings draw me in where I wish to stay forever. You're a great artist and a wonderful teacher.
Hi Michael, firstly, congrats on all your videos and especially this the latest. Question - your references, are they your own photos or do you use photo libraries? also....whos the genteleman in the background??!!!!
Your paintings always amaze me. What do you use for your first layer in blocking? You said it dries quickly. I know oils take much longer than a few minutes. Is the base layer quick drying oils?
Alanroy Vincent I wondered if he was using acrylics since they dry so quickly. Thanks!! Why does he use fast drying oils instead of the originals. I know the drying time is vastly different.
mary ann hart With the alkyds, you can add more detail onto a given area much sooner Than with traditional oils! Also, the old way, you had to wait maybe six months before you could varnish the picture, and call it finished. This is why, thanks to my finding Michaels fantastic teachings, on here, I am finally starting to paint in oil again. I first tried in the 60's and promptly gave up, thinking "whaaat??? Six months to paint a picture? ...you can make a human in nine!!!" I spent several years a an airbrush illustrator, but now I want to paint what I want to paint and hopefully not die before the paint dries!
A very nice video once again! Looking forward to the next vid for this painting. I can always stand to improve my fore ground work, especially pathways. Thank you for going into detail on this. It's one of your better ones for explaining color choices and brushwork. Very very informative!
I love this, I much prefer seeing you (and your dad) and hearing all your entertaining comments. These videos are I think better than the art school ones. They were amazing but I enjoy the interaction you have with us all out there that was missing in the art school. Also I think you manage to show us just as much. You are an excellent teacher.
hi! iTS WONDERFUL! But is it possible to tell us wich colors you mix to do your trees? And, I ear you used a kind ok oil for doing a type of glassy colors..is it possible to used the same for acrylic paint? sorry for my english...I speak french! Oh..and..another question...sometimes, when your painting your trees, you start with pâle colors to finish with darkness one..and sometimes your doing the opposite...is it when you used acrylic or oils? thank you
Hello, if there is someone who can answer me, it would be nice .. I would like to know if you use your paint straight or if you dilute it before starting with liquin? I speak french and I use google translate so maybe you mentioned it but I did not understand. I saw that you were talking about liquin, but do you put it directly on the canvas or do you want it to feel like glaze or if you mix it with paint? I was in acrylic before, and I started to oil ... it's really like in the song ... it's more difficult but much more beautiful! thank you
Hi. Your videos and your paintings are fantastic. I'm just getting into oil painting and have been watching lots of RUclips videos (from lots of different artists) to pick up basic skills and tips. I have to say that your channel is by far the best I've found so I'll be sticking with you from now on. Please keep the videos coming. If you ever have time, one thing that would really help would be if you go do a "start to finish" type video specifically for beginners. Something that still has the amazing detail but keeps things relatively simple and demos a few different brush techniques would be fantastic. Also, could I request that in your videos you comment on when things are dry or when you are still working wet on wet. I know you do that sometimes (after block-in etc.) but there are other times when I'm left wondering if I should be waiting for things to dry. Thanks. And, as I said, your work is truly amazing so please keep the lessons coming. Yes, I plan to purchase your online course but haven't yet got to the point where I'm ready to invest in that.
Thank you for sharing your techniques. Your talent is amazing and I love your style of teaching. Im applying your lesson to a piece I’m doing from a photo with conifers in the foreground. In this series, I didn’t find find out if you put oil paint on the sky. I’m interested because I’m working on a similar light sky and wondering what to add to Titanium white. I added the slightest bit of Prussian Blue and Burnt Umber to one side. Wondered if you went with just white.
Hi James amazing realistic man! just a question acrylic and oil over it does it give any attatchment problems in the future ? im an housepainter and we cant paint oil over acryl on windows so does it matter on a cloth ?
my heart beat faster l feel my life is wonderful when l saw your drawing and l feel inspired inside. l am happy to watch your video.. sorry because my grammar is not good ,.pinoy kasi akow..:)
Thank you for sharing your skills. I'm starting back up oil painting and you've already taught me many things that I never did with my earlier bad habits. I will now sketch/block in before starting. That really makes sense.
Dude... I’m ‘cross the pond too... again... even the music is killin... your paintings ALWAYS sing, so no shock there... love yer technique... gonna try it out soon too... got my acrylics lined up... oils... ready... now sheer ability... hmm... it’s around here somewhere! Hello Mickael, We can see your father at the beginning of the video on the background. Could it be possible to make a video with him? with his comments during the video?... just for one time ;) Agnès, from France.
I am fascinated with your work, could watch you all day. I have purchased some of your brushes and hope I will have better tools than I have now, once they arrive. I've read that you have learned from your Dad. PLEASE show us some of his work. I can see him there next to you....:)

Michael I'm so glad to see you on the rebound from your recent debacle with your website. You're techniques and inspiration have led me to what I ultimately wanted to do, which is portrait painting. I have a Facebook page Ken Scheper Paintings with some of my stuff, it would be an honor if you would stop by and check it out, maybe drop some critiques. Thank you for all your generous instructional videos!
Hi Michael, I love the way you paint and teach us. It is really helpful for self learning artist. I have a question about one of the painting which I am currently working on and I need your help with that, I have messaged you on Instagram. Please have a look, your reply would be grateful. Thanks 😊
Hello Mr. Smith from the snowy Great Lakes State of Michigan. I have watched all of your videos and really enjoy each and everyone of them thank you for recording them. I have a question, in the video you were using Liquin Detail and not Liquin Original, what is the difference between the two?

The light hitting the trees is wonderful. Thanks Michael. Congrats on merch store!!

I was wondering the same thing! Love seeing Dad working in the background :-)
Hi Michael. Is there any update on your school. I'm eager to sign up but only after it is sorted out.
I’m American, so out of respect, I made some tea to drink while I watched. I hope that was the right thing. Great video as always. Cheers.
