Amazing as usual Michael. Your paintings inspire me to want to achieve more realism. I watch your videos religiously. You re paintings inspire me. Keep the faith mate, you help no end of people to paint better pictures. You have no idea the importance of what you give us. Fantastic stuff. I hope and pray your life has flourished. Take care bud, and keep them coming.
Always a pleasure to watch you paint and your skill never ceases to amaze me! I also enjoy watching you 'block in' and see how realistic the water always looks before you even begin with the oils. Thank you, once again, for sharing your knowledge with us.
Hi Michael am totally loving the content that you so patiently create and share with us. Directly because of your teachings, I've lifted my paint brushes again after a 20 year lull! :)
I just wanted to ask, will you be releasing a 'new school' with your new, forthcoming website? I've held off joining the other one at this stage due to what happened mate!
I like this style of detail. What I like about detail is that you can just wonder your eyes around the painting and notice things you did not notice before. I do my paintings with detail too.
I so enjoyed learning your technique of using Acrylic first to block in then Oil over the dried sketch. I am going to try this. Thank you for your sharing on RUclips to help us who cannot live near any classes.
I've picked up a brush after an absence of nearly 20 years. Have never blocked in a painting before, need to get some acrylics for that. Love the way you do your trees, they look very realistic. Great work Michael!
I saw a couple videos where you put a piece of paper up and illustrated brush type and stroke and result. I would very much appreciate a video where you go through the “basic” strokes you use in creating far away trees closer tree foliage and grass, etc. sometimes you describe how you use the brush for example the edge of your fan brush but more of that “stroke example” before you use it on canvas would be so useful for beginners! Thank you.
For years now, I've watched your videos and learned so much. I am so thankful but found myself unable to express in words my appreciation. Sometimes, unfortunately, words are cheap...and they don't pay the bills...therefore, I am so grateful that you started the Patreon account. After years of free tutelage here on RUclips, I can finally give back a little bit. That makes me feel better because after all, life is a two way street, you give and you take. For years, I felt I was just taking from you...and now you have provided a way to give back a small amount. It still doesn't add up to what you've given me through your videos, but it's a start! I look forward to your next video, and I have to admit, I love being one of the first to see it, thanks to Patreon! Long ago, kings and queens were patrons to great artists...now even people like me...can be patrons too. This is awesome! www.patreon.com/michaeljamessmith/posts
Another great tutorial, Michael. Love your work. Hope to see you finish this one in future postings. The contrast between the cool background trees and the warm tones on the sunny side of the bank will make an exceptional painting. Can't wait to see the rest of it!
Thank you Michael, I'm learning a lot with you. Thank you for explaining your techniques, people around told me that I'm in progress thanks to you. It's always a pleasure to watch you painting. Merci beaucoup ! Mimi
Maestro io ti devo ringraziare, ho utilizzato la tua tecnica per le foglie sulle colline ed ho risolto un problema di prospettiva e profondità, oltre alla bellezza. GRAZIE ancora. Sei un grande.

i would love to learn how to paint the photos i take, but that's about as far as i am atm. i don't even paint. still "in a saturating phase, soaking it all in" (i keep telling myself) ...which is a lame excuse for always just thinking instead of ever actually doing, i know. but hold me to it, i've got your annual plan (online school) in my sights! will wait for the new site updates, but excited to become a student! instant channel subscription from random youtube recommended video (few weeks ago). thank you for sharing, encouraging, inspiring... my favorite kind of artist. we should all be making art (i keep telling myself).
