baybeetricia the last two weeks online have been so surreal to me. I just feel blessed to have had this experience. I did the video two weeks ago just to give people something to laugh at while we serve out our house arrest sentence. I had NO idea almost 1,000,000 would view it! It's not good for my hair to be wet though because it shrinks lol. I use the Luster's S Curl spray and it gives me moisture for DAYS. More than anything I've ever used. Throw that with Wetline or Eco Styler and I have 4-5 days of curls. Really longer if I'm not going out (which I'm not).

This is what we did years ago - pair an activator gel with a hard gel. This was when there weren't many products available to naturals. It was a good option

I used the Jheri curl gel after watching another video and my 4C hair loved it. It works for me and my curl definition stayed. I just sprayed it the next day. Also I rubbed a essential oil mixture with scents and it was okay.
As an old lady, I'm trippin! The activator is still on the shelves because we never stopped using it. The "natural curl" products came out and it was all about better ingredients and tons of products. So we switched to those. Looks like what goes around is coming back around!

The Jheri Curl stuff is a humectant, just like honey. It pulls moisture into the hair, so that's why the hair was so hard to dry. That is contrary to what it is intended to do. Your hair will likely feel "moist" for a week. This is good for anyone who has really dry hair; gives shine that most 4c naturals can't get with other products.
Oh... and finger detangling is a game changer... It gives more definition versus using tools that really stretch the hair.
My dad has a jerry curl to this day. His hair is always wet. I think that's just how the product is.

It’s amazing to see all of these videos on these products that I grew up with, I had a Jheri curl in the 80’s when I was in the 6th grade and the task was to always have activator to prevent a dried out mess of hair. One it grew out and out of style I never forgot about these products because it’s always been known that they promote hair growth. The key is to know how much to add to your hair and be prepared for a mess depending on how you apply it. This is nothing new, at all!🤣🤣. Fast forward, I went completely natural about 15 years ago and I have always used these products to moisturize and promote growth because I am not into any of the new transactions and I knew for a fact that the old products are where it’s at. My hair is crazy full and down my back because of it. Along with proper hair care that I learned in Cosmetology school 20 years ago and the old activator. I shared the idea of using them with every woman who has ever ask how I maintain my hair but no one ever listened, now we have all these videos about it, I have never used anything else since I went back to this stuff over 15 years ago. I am glad that folks are finally catching on! Enjoy and God bless!!
I've been using regular gel and a gel activator together for 10+ years. The "gel activator" is not meant to dry. You're hair will stay damp as long as you're applying that product.
I like watery gels I feel like I don’t need to add more water because of the water content
I’ve been using the SCurl gel in the gray jar with the clear Wetline on top. I found the key is to put JUST ENOUGH of the SCurl gel on to coat the hair but not too much. Helps with drying time and with the stickiness. I also found that the wetline was better on top of it than TMC Gelato cause the wetline was easier to smooth/shingle the hair than Gelato was. Gelato combo also left my hair sticky.

I bought world of curls yesterday and did a wash n go. I put eco styler gel on top of it. My curl are popping!!!!!! But my hair is super sticky and greasy. I don’t know what I did wrong but I’m not sure if I’ll be doing this again. Well if I do I’ll just wear it for one day then wash it out because this sticky feeling is not pleasant lol
@@beauti2thecore Eco Style gel has excellent hold, BUT I don't like how sticky it is. My hair is very thick, so I have to use a lot, but then it gums up in my hair. I had a jheri curl back in the day, and that stuff did not gum up in my hair. My hair grew like a weed, and was always soft and easy to comb. I have never tried the S Curl products or the Wetline products, but I will have to give 'em a try.

Not sure what day you actually did this, but I was like "what, I tried it before ms. Kimberly??? But I used LA curl activator gel and clear wet line. My hair took FOOOORRREEEVVEERR to dry. But my end results....Baybay.
Licensed Cosmetologist here, glycerin is a natural humectant, so it pulls moisture from the air, also that's why the product is sticky.

I have the Extra Dry Long Aid Activator Gel & the instructions b throwing me. Talkin bout apply to dry hair & don't apply to ends if u want volume🤔. I've only used it twice, both applied to wet hair wash n go. Once followed w Eco Styler the other time nothing. Both times took forever to dry. Without the Eco my hair was sooo soft n fluffy. I'm going to apply to dry hair next time as per directions to see what I come up w🤷🏾♀️oh I have a ? When pple had jheri curls & had to wear those shower caps every night, was that really beneficial to their hair...did it not cause bacterial & or fungal growth on scalp from constantly being moist? Bc I just read that's a con to air drying is the moisture on scalp too long.🤔
@@moetbennett9762 I can't speak to fungus but your hair dries from your ends to your roots so it increases shrinkage if you let your roots or scalp dry last

wow great minds think alike because i literally just tried this same combo this weekend lol The stickiness on my neck drove me crazy too, i had to take another shower right after lmao but i agree, the application process took no time at all and my hair has never been this soft for a wash and go. i just hate that it took two days to dry and it has no hold like wetline normally has alone... but other than that, definitely a game changer!

I tried this combo last weekend but I must say...
I did not use a leave-in. I'm a leave-in junkie but I knew this SCurl contained a lot of water and glycerin... So I left out the leave-in. I was glad I did!
Also, my hair was so soft! My curls were poppin and shiny and quenched!
But... If there is a lot of moisture in the air where you live (overcast/rainy), your hair will become frizzed and poofy. I used the clear wetline and my hair still frizzed a lot one night while I was outside.
I'm going to try the SCurl again this time with the Style Factor Gel, since that gives a stonger hold to the curl.
I swear I was just thinking maybe I should use the style factor with this and use the Jheri curl as my leave in. We might be on to something frenn.

Try Cantu curl activator and stasoftfro, smells good, with a smell good leave on conditioner, not as sticky, and use an Afro sheen.... sleep in the cap.. that's how we wore Jeri curls back in the day....my hair smells good, I cut my hair off years ago, and is wearing it natural, using those to two products. I cut off very very low and a fade, but it's back as long as it is on this profile photo, but still natural

i agree with u, ur moisturizing routine is insane so what i think u should do when you use it back again is skip the leave-in and go straight to applying the jehri curl in the shower when u come out use the wetline gel.
I started using Care free curl and Worlds of curls moisturizers on my hair about a year ago. Nothing like Jerri curl juice to moisten it up! LOL.

I discovered curl activator gel for my hair back in 2014. When I told people what I used they thought I was crazy! 🤣 Constantly had to explain that it did not make my hair curly. I stopped using it because when my hair grew out, I stopped wetting it every other day. Now that I wasn't restyling so often, I realized that the gel didn't have enough hold to keep my style for the week. So I switched up. Never considered using it with another gel...I want to try that. Also, I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my hair hates wetline. 🙁

I just love any kind of natural hair! Your hair looks amazing!!!! Worlds of Curls was my stuff back in the 80's🤦🏽♀️ as well as a several years ago before I loced my hair!!! I told my daughter to get onboard not only do it work you can't beat the price it has always been affordable 😀. I spent an arm, leg & 3 toes buying other products.

Not sure if anyone else commented on this, but the reason it took long to dry and feels sticky is because the activator gel has glycerin in it. Glycerin is a humectant, which absorbs moisture from the air, so it will keep your hair moisturized and feeling damp. People with excessively dry skin use glycerin. It's also in most lotions and conditioners for moisture.

Your hair looks beautiful. This was a game changer for me, stayed soft, moisturized & defined. I used Olive oil Eco styler instead, it tried fine & I got no stickiness. Creams been drying out my hair lately.

i remember the older days on LHCF when women were doing wash n go's they were just that. No shingling raking etc. They washed their hair put in whatever moisture product(gel or so) and then "go" And in times like summer is when they did it so that way their hair dried from the heat of the weather. You didn't need you hair dried 'before' leaving the house. Now in the winter? No you dried it first. That is...if you even wore that style in the winter anyway.

I actually used to use this on my natural hair some years ago and curls were poppin'. I would use it with Optimum leave in conditioner. And it worked amazingly. Not sure why I stopped but you know it try other products. So I might to try this put again like I did before. Great fun review.
I started with the Care Free Curl, in the 80s, had the Lusta Curl, and the Elasta Quadra Curl was the last one it wasn't a drippy kind and didn't leave residue or juice everywhere. Now I'm salt n peppa and looking to try something for my natural mature hair.

@@tfashion19 well in summertime it's typically really humid where I live and Glycerin draws in moisture from the air. So using it in winter is better cause the air is not as "wet."
@@tfashion19 Glycerin usually gives your hair a wet feeling if you're in a humid environment because too much moisture is being drawn in, so styles end up being undefined and not lasting.

You should. I got it yesterday and did some of my ends and it works so well?? And also I noticed that it definitely has some shrinkage defense! My hair is reaching the mid-back and when I usually do wash and goes it usually will shrink up to my neck or so. And when I tried this on the back, the hair is still below my shoulders lol maybe it would reach further if I did it on clean hair but anyways, I didn’t even know it also combats shrinkage lol can’t wait till the weekend to wash my hair and do a full wash and go. I hope yours turns out great. Definitely let us know how it works out for you!
