Yes he does so well! He's defo got the love for cycling now though - I suggested we could do a flatter ride this weekend if he's tired from work, but he said 'no I want a hilly Peaks!" How times have changed 😂
I had Crud Racers mk2 mudguards but they made a mess of my posh tyres, so I'll tell you a secret - my new ones are Topeak DeFender iGlow X. £51 and they have a red LED strip light all the way down them, front and back. Solid or flashing light. Come in either silver or black. An absolute game changer. The rears need a central, caliper bolt, to clip onto though. No one in your groups will have seen these, but they are top banana👍
I did my DIY around a bit of Rutland Water yesterday, outer loop and the inner. The trail has been destroyed thanks to all the rain - thankfully on the gravel bike. Lovely riding near that viaduct, need to ride out there more often, Tugby etc.
You asked Kyle, why he is wearing gloves? I had a friend get in an accident without cycling gloves and he rolled the skin on the palm of his hand right up. He put his hand down during the fall to brace himself. I never ride without them now. 😊
Great video, really enjoyed watching it, having ridden the same wet Audax. The organiser Rob has a 200k Audax, Kings & Queens of Mercia, booked for 07/09/24, which is a gorgeous route (done it twice), and hopefully worthy of one of your videos.
13:18 the only downside to long top tube bags is when stopped... they hinder your ability to stand over the top tube. If you have the room, as the case here, I'd go with a frame bag. In addition to not hindering stand over, isn't a frame bag more aero than a top tube bag as well?
You and Pinni seems to be bonding well...Amazing what a good fit session can do for you in regards to your overall enjoyment of the ride. Remember some tender luv'in care for Pinni upon your return home-I.E.; a good scrubbing!!! Cheers, Pjw
Thanks so much! 😊 I try to be, some days I'm not always positive but that day was a good'un 😅 glad you like the videos - Kyle cheered up with his fish and chips at home :D
Enjoyed riding with you for a bit before my mate exploded his tyres - he blames Kyle for leading him into a pothole 😂 he had to call his wife to come pick him up. I saw a little family of moles swimming across the flooded bit of the road when I got there!
Ahh it was great to ride with you! Such a shame that your mate didn't get to finish! Ahh really, shame we didn't see them 😅 hope you enjoyed the rest of your ride!
You're a trooper Kyle, way to hang in there after a rough week of work! I felt that misery from the other side of the pond.. as much as i love cycling, i still dont get the point of cycling that long .. im happy after 33 milones 😏
Rapha shakedry or another brand that uses Shakedry. Thats the one. eBay will be your friend. Worth the money. Guessing you could be small. Gore do one as well as do Castelli. The insulated version is stupidly warm.
I don't mind riding in the rain but hate setting off in the stuff😂We get a lot of it in Scotland, glad I'm retired and I can choose my days😉Cracking ride, you both did really well👍That was a proper flood, that car will be a write off😱Glad the family were fine though! I had SKS mudguards on my Dolan Carbon bike that were held on by rubber bands and they were excellent, way better than velcro!
Haha I'm not a fan of setting off in the rain either, so glad the sun came out in the end! Scotland is such a great place for cycling 😍 I've actually ordered som SKS and returned the others so hopefully they'll be better!
Good video again. I got my cycling shoes wet under flood water. Had to resort to baking soda and white vinegar to get smell out eventually. I do hope it drys out soon or I will have to cancel my audax 😢. Keep up the good work both of you!
Great video Amy & Kyle.I noticed at the end of the video when you waved goodbye your palms were red.any glove recommendations as mine get very red and sore after 50 miles.doing my first 163 kilometre audax in a few weeks.
Thanks so much ☺️ they might have been red because of my cold hands! I think any cycling specific gloves with padding in the palm area will probably help ☺️ Santini sent me some and they've been good, I usually wear them in the summer as they're fingerless. Massive good luck for the Audax!! I hope you enjoy it 🙌🏻
You might ask your sunglasses sponsor for some lenses that are appropriate in cloudy conditions. Hard to tell if your lenses support all light conditions and it could impact your safety on the road, rain or not.
DWR jackets are pants. These are jackets that are not waterproof but, instead, treated with a "durable water repellant" coating. This DWR coating needs to be re-applied every so often but, even so, they will wet-out. That is, they will become saturated in heavy or steady rain and become a sopping mess. To be properly waterproof you need a properly waterproof material, like Goretex or some such.
Great content as ever Amy. Kyle needs to get a sponsorship with a decent sausage roll supplier. Can't believe the water levels!! Keep up the good work, oh and you are famous!
Amy, what lights do you use when riding a long Audax? Ive signed up for Trans Devon in May, and this will include riding through the night along country lanes, over Exmoor and Dartmoor. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Hiya! I use Exposure (I’m sponsored by them so I get them gifted - total honesty here) but we have just bought Kyle the same as they’re so good and have such a good battery life :) perfect for Audax
I was going to do this but kept watching the forecast and never entered ,I've become a fair weather cyclist ,gutted now I didn't do it as I would have got to meet you both
Bloomin heck - a Northern thing, it's like sort of being shocked I guess Milones - Miles haha this is something I randomly started saying on a ride when tired and it stuck for some reason
@@markrushton1516 indeed, but the issue Amy complained about was her jacket's _waterproof-ness_ not warmth. Anyway, take up the comment with Francis-it is not my perspective (I live in California).
oh no the gortex failed, i wouldnt waste my money on another one. i believe their patent expired so now you can get the same tech for much less. its also a common belief that gortex breathes while being water proof but it can only do one or the other. although i suppose the water doesnt cover all parts of the fabric so in those parts it can still breathe.
Great ride, well done. Shame you guys can’t find a waterproof that makes you visible, cyclists get a bad rap with wearing black. Go bright and be seen!
Thank you! I know I think a lot of Gortex and especially shake dry (which I’m thinking of buying) is only a sinks in dark colours because of the material or so I’ve been told! I do wear a high vis strap over the dark jacket usually to try and add a bit of visability 😅
Hats off to Kyle. I know how hard it is when you work all week out in the wind and cold rain , and then the weekend dumps on you .
Yes he does so well! He's defo got the love for cycling now though - I suggested we could do a flatter ride this weekend if he's tired from work, but he said 'no I want a hilly Peaks!" How times have changed 😂
The UK audax culture is astonishingly fabulous. Look at it. Well organized. Well staffed, by volunteers I'd guess. Charming lanes to ride on. Bravo.
Couldn't agree more! Yes it's all volunteers - such a great community
Well done Kyle great job to you both. Hey Kyle wee stops I am with you brother. Every clump of trees deserves attention.
Wow, I'm not sure I want to drive a car 200km! You both are seriously rocking it. As for me, I will continue to live vicariously through you two.
Haha thank you!! We're slowly training for the Miglia!
Yippeee whooooowhooooo she’s back!
14:29 lol

Love seeing my local roads on one of your videos, great effort
Well done 👍 amazing watching you riding around my local roads , i always ride under the viaduct and it always amazes me , keep the videos coming 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Ahh yes it's a beautiful place to ride ☺️
Wow, much respect to both of you. Doing that long ride under the rain and all wet and cold just make it much harder. 👏🏻 💪🏻🦵🏻
Super cool to see the roads i used to train/ride on! Welcome to Rutland! 😊
Excellent Amy keep um coming kid
Well done you two and respect to Kyle.
I agree with Kyle. Those last 45 miles, including that stretch of badly flooded road, were not really what you needed on top of the Audax.
Yes I think we were both questioning our decision 😅
You asked Kyle, why he is wearing gloves? I had a friend get in an accident without cycling gloves and he rolled the skin on the palm of his hand right up. He put his hand down during the fall to brace himself. I never ride without them now. 😊
Ohhh yes didn't think about that!!
Another cracking Video Amy , Keep them coming
Tells you how much of a mental game cycling is just as much as physical. Well done Kyle pulling through!
Great video, really enjoyed watching it, having ridden the same wet Audax.

You can buy waterproof stuff for clothes from go outdoors and the like to re waterproof your coat.

Bravo! Very courageous with this very bad weather.
Very well done!! Cold, wet & and windy, your attitude was grand .
Thank you! Cake was a great motivation :D

Yes bonding well for sure! Don’t you worry a clean was had 😅
Miss Amy, Fantastic video and great effort from both of you. Not really into cold and rain. Should carry set of swim fins on days like these.
you are a STAR amy you got list come onnn
Love your videos guys, well done to you both 👏👏👏👍❤️
you are stinky mad heroes, but still heroes. Lots of rain we hear.
You two are the absolute best!!😊
Haha yes we do have to eat a lot to fuel the rides 😂 thanks for watching!
Well done to both of you. Feel,Kyle's pain! Love your positivity always a happy bunny, which makes your videos a great 😊😊

Thank you!
Can't wait to see those trees with warm leaves on them! C'mon springtime!
You and me both! Cannot wait!
Great Video!! The the roads around us in Essex are really bad, well done for sticking with it 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏼♂️💨
Thank you! Can't wait for summer and less rain 🤞🏻

Thank you!
New subscriber and runner and I love this channel ....such a great energy and the phrases crack me up ......got a feeling a wanna start riding again
Ahh that's great to hear ☺️ so glad you like the channel! YES DO IT!
Great ride. If it were me I'd be giving my bike a good going over. Take the seatpost out and flip the bike over and see if any water comes out!
Thank you!
Sks race blade pro xl😎 .. great vlog
Ace vid, what an adventure, I’m always hungry watching Kyle eat so much food!😂💪🏁🚴♀️🚴♀️
What a ride. I felt every peddle turn. 😮
haha it is true what they say about the british weather. never seen puddles that big in my live! keep it up. very enjoyable to watch!

Well done I wouldn't have walked through that water 🙈🙈 I would have been stomping my feet like a child 🤣🤣🤣 poor Kyle hope he recovered ok 😃😃❤️ xx
Haha we had no choice 😂 at least we weren't the car owners! Yes he was all good in the end, especially after his fish and chips 😄

You brought bikes to a boat fight! Maybe Packraft sponsorship is on the cards!
Your start point is near me at Thurnby full marks for doing 120 plus miles Epic poor Kyle for bonking
Inspiring! Bravo
Envountered the same yesterday on freshly services wheel hubs :( Blasted my bike with a fan when I got back
You always have excellent audio quality, do you use audio media mod on your GoPro?
Yes we have the media mod on the go-pro :)
I don't think my backside could take 8hrs in the saddle. I guess it's something you build up too.. Great ride guys.
Absolute beasts. 💪🏻

You can reproof your jacket with nikwax spray. Only costs about £10 and will save you buying another jacket.
Thanks!
Well done.
Well done , Wot a Red and a plog. You nelle need a bot 🐑🐑🐑☔☔☔.
Great effort, as usual. I hope one day to do a 200km Brevet. you never know!
You can do it! Maybe we will see you at an Audax one day :D
Great cycling Kyle like me he likes his food haha.
That's my mates dad the bloke from Leicester.....can't wait to tell him he was on RUclips 😂
Haha 😂😂 star feature ✨✨
Por favor subtitulado en español.
I was going to do this but kept watching the forecast and never entered ,I've become a fair weather cyclist ,gutted now I didn't do it as I would have got to meet you both
Ahh shame we didn't see you! Turned out to be a lovely day in the end - although your bike will thank you for not taking it through floods 😂
У вас погода как в фильме 'Ливень'
That was rough. Great effort
Thanks!
"8 hours and 19 minutes spinning our loins!" LOL 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I am sure your bottom bracket loved the weather lol.
That's what I was thinking 🫣
Better to overestimate puddle depth than to underestimate 😃👍
Absolutely
Ding Dang Done
You came past my house! I live about a mile from East Carlton.
Ahhh we should have given you a wave!
Well done great effort both of you 💪😅 u can get NIKWAX to re waterproof your jacket 👍
Thank you! ohh thanks I'll look out for that!
Kyle has another wee and the road is so flooded cars can not pass. Coincidence? I think not. 🌊🚴
😂😂😂😂
Kyle know feeling mate
❤
so many words for Amy that I don't understand! - bloomin, ek, milonays......
Bloomin heck - a Northern thing, it's like sort of being shocked I guess
Milones - Miles haha this is something I randomly started saying on a ride when tired and it stuck for some reason
As fellow English countryman Francis Cade says, "skin is waterproof"
It is but water and wind create wind chill and everything that comes with it.
@@markrushton1516 indeed, but the issue Amy complained about was her jacket's _waterproof-ness_ not warmth. Anyway, take up the comment with Francis-it is not my perspective (I live in California).
The first time I got caught in some rain my bike started squeaking. Which is why I don’t ride in the rain.
didn't you get your bike ceramic coated. nothing with stick to the frame like your mud guards
Yes that's the reason - we didn't think 🤦♀️ I have new mudguards on the way not velcro ones now :D
You are such a fantastic advert for Audax UK (Kyle also)
We LOVE a good Audax :D
Just started to watch and you have a helmet on driving to the event
😂
Safety first with the helmet in the car!
Yes 😂
I think Amy sleeps in her helmet 😂
Try washing your jacket in TX10
very unfortunate for the couple with their car in the water 😭
Somebody please count how many times Amy say kyle.
@2:52 fixed gear on an audax? You can't corner. You can't climb. You can't coast. Seems like an odd choice.
Not sure you need to wear your helmet in the van....shows dedication I suppose 😂
😂
Mudguards are overrated. Although the theory that it's the fair/polite thing regards riders behind you is maybe fair enough.
Do you ever take your helmet off? You’re wearing in the car on the way there, on the ride, in the cafe, and then again on the drive home!
Haha I don't sleep in it 😂
oh no the gortex failed, i wouldnt waste my money on another one. i believe their patent expired so now you can get the same tech for much less. its also a common belief that gortex breathes while being water proof but it can only do one or the other. although i suppose the water doesnt cover all parts of the fabric so in those parts it can still breathe.
Not had a Shakedry? game changer
Doesn't say much about Kyle's driving that you're wearing a helmet while he drives.
😂
where was your hi-viz at the start in the dark and the rain? Both all in black. Tut-tut, slapped wrists the pair of you.
Kyle’s driving must be bad if you are wearing a helmet in the van lol
😂
If God had meant people to live in The UK, he would have given them gills.
Great ride, well done. Shame you guys can’t find a waterproof that makes you visible, cyclists get a bad rap with wearing black. Go bright and be seen!
