Great video and without doubt the most dangerous race I have taken part in, one of the Danish cyclists in my category was in a coma for 5 days and over 150 cyclists ended up in hospital. The UCI and organisers should be ashamed having such an important race on narrow roads with over 2000 cyclists. Hope all the cyclists who needed treatment are back on their bikes.
@ an Aussie in my hotel lasted 5km before he crashed got picked up by a guy in a van taken to hospital and was told he needed 150 kroner, he had to walk 2 km to the bank in his torn cycling kit with broken collar bone got back to hospital and had to wait 3 hours as casualties were everywhere. Not good
@ you were in the best group as first off it was carnage behind due to the large numbers of cyclists in narrow roads and with about 35km to the finish you had all categories coming together. The big problem was narrow roads with too many cyclists and a lack of medical support due to the above.
@@TheMurciaCyclist-bk7jo Small roads aren't the problem, they actually help narrow the bunch down. Wider roads make bigger groups and higher speeds, so the consequences of these crashes are even gonna be worse. Crashes are always gonna be implicit, because the average amateur level rises A LOT quicker than the skill level of the average amateur (I even dare to say it gets worse). They should just make the age groups smaller (lower % qualifies) and leave bigger gaps between the races. And host an event over 2 days, just like they do with gravel worlds.
I was in M 19-34 and it was a carnage. It felt more like Normandy invasion than a proper race. Extremely dangerous, but I made it without a scratch. Its a very old product that’s not in production anymore. Insta360 has something that will do the job, search for top cap mount on their website accessories www.insta360.com/sal/x4?INR47RE
Link in top comment 🫡
It’s one that isn’t available anymore. But insta360 has one that’s very sturdy for the top cap. Otherwise a top cap with GoPro mount will work too. But, they can’t be super tight (the plug will not hold that) so tend to loosen… also not approved for off road/high speed/bumpy road. (Check insta360 website specs on the top cap mount)
@@jasperverkuijlbtw. He is an elite level amateur like yourself. I have no idea how can you manage work, racing and family on a daily basis. I would burn out in one month.

Leuke video! Was rond km70.
How much do you train? Since you work a lot I personally work around 60 hours a week in summer can shift up to 70 so training 10 hours can get me pretty coocked 😂 maybe is need a whoop cus I’m probly overreaching for like a month until I have vacation
Ha! saw a guy I know in the 1st 5mins. Yeah that's what my some guys I know who did it said. They said it was completely crazy and crashes everywhere and people riding like maniacs. They made it to the finishing sprint in the main group but a few picked staying safe rather than risking a crash and were just happy to finish in one piece. One guy I know got a top 10 in another category with a completely buckled rubbing front wheel after an early crash! No idea how he rode it to the finish...

@jasperverkuijl Yup, got the answer, thanks! Good luck with future races and congratulations with a +1 🍼 to your family.
🙌🏻🙌🏻
greatl,
race organizers should look theese !
Always amazed how you race to win
and have all this brain space for entertaining content and story telling while in the race.
🤙🏻 I guess it’s my job and I got some practice at it 😉🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I love it
Been so long to see these videos.
🤙🏻🤙🏻 yeah it’s been a busy year for me with less races and less time to edit 😅
🚼🐣
@@jasperverkuijl no worries! Even better that we got some race vids end of the year. Would love to see you attempt another haute alp oder anything like that next year
I've got an X3 and interested in the mount you have on the stem - you got more info on this?
Its a very old product that’s not in production anymore. Insta360 has something that will do the job, search for top cap mount on their website accessories www.insta360.com/sal/x4?INR47RE
Link in top comment 🫡
@ O oké Tnxs. 💪
Hey Jasper, which mount did u use for the Insta 360? Do you have a link?
It’s one that isn’t available anymore. But insta360 has one that’s very sturdy for the top cap. Otherwise a top cap with GoPro mount will work too. But, they can’t be super tight (the plug will not hold that) so tend to loosen… also not approved for off road/high speed/bumpy road. (Check insta360 website specs on the top cap mount)
@@jasperverkuijlthanks! I will try the one from 360. And hopefully it holds 😅

31:47. HUN rider ZÁRAY checks in. ^.^
Hungary guys was fast
@@jasperverkuijl Avg over 40 kph, you weren't holding it back.
@@jasperverkuijlbtw. He is an elite level amateur like yourself. I have no idea how can you manage work, racing and family on a daily basis. I would burn out in one month.
@@fpeter01 40kph is nothing in a peloton...... it was a slow race. My avg power was lower than hard 5h races..
how you manage your x4 to cover the long race? did you have backup battery or connect to a powerbank?
You assume I record start to finish….. that’s a wrong assumption haha
@jasperverkuijl just a tought. Haha.. anyways nice jobs for securing you 360 not falling down. I just tried your mounting style. 😅
@@Onix88ify I start stop the camera during the whole race
For me scary travelling at speed with so many obstacles on this narrow City roads
That’s the usual on a criterium haha 😜
does dutch cycling federation gives you the jersey? why not all the dutch and belgium riders have the same jersey?
No. We (Dutch riders) have to buy it for like €190!
Mine was last years model that I never used.
It’s required to ride in a jersey that “represents your country colors” so anything orange would work haha.
Yes, it’s stil amateur level….
Leuke video! Was rond km70.
YT gold
Must have been great to wear your national colours!
Wow! That's good to see racing like in good old days. Orgs should be ashamed of themselves.
🙏🙏
hey Jasper, any idea where I can buy that exact skinsuit that you are using in the video? Greetings from Italy
There is no such thing as Italy we are going to take back our land and culture form You knuckle dragging Neanderthals 👍😀
It’s last years national skinsuit. Nowhere you can buy it now.
I can sell you mine 🤷🏼♂️ worn 3 times…
@@jasperverkuijl Thanks for the offer but I don't like the idea of used bibs. Great video!
You don’t? 🤨 take one for the team bro! 😎
😜
Hi Jasper, what width bars do you use?
42. I have 38 on my other bike and want to swap to 38’s on this one too
@@jasperverkuijl Cool I'm thinking of doing the swap from 42 to 38 also
What type of mounting you use..
This was an old mount i had laying around. (It’s from Tacx)
Now insta360 had very nice bike specific mounts 👌
How much do you train? Since you work a lot I personally work around 60 hours a week in summer can shift up to 70 so training 10 hours can get me pretty coocked 😂 maybe is need a whoop cus I’m probly overreaching for like a month until I have vacation
10-15 hours a week. Avg probably 12.
I never not work 😉 (my RUclips business takes up all my free time)
Ha! saw a guy I know in the 1st 5mins.
Thats why I tried to stay in front of the peloton the whole race and not in the blob😅
Watching how close everyone is riding is making me anxious.
That’s racing!
Fast
niceeeee
