I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of the Jetsons!
These are really cool blends, I was surprised how good these were, especially when I tend to think of Sutliff blends as cheap bulk.

I tried most of the birds series. Uno and eccentric were my favorites; hope you can get ahold of them! Paradoxical was my least favorite but high quality tobacco none the less.

Per Jensen is the chief blender for MacBaren, which owns Sutliff, in case anyone doesn't know. I haven't tried any of this series, but Brian Doran, Beans316, has pretty much savaged the ones he's reviewed. I watch his videos every Saturday morning; always enjoy them, seldom agree with him! His palate and mine are about 180° apart. I'm really 9:01 looking forward to your full review of this one. Balkan Sobranie had a blend called "VA. #10." We're talking the 1970s, now. The flavor and aroma were fantastic, but whether it was the cigar leaf, the Bright Leaf tips, or the Syrian Latakia, the nicotine level was just too much for me. Wish you better luck with Paradoxical. Good show today!
Per was on a recent episode of The Pipes Magazine Radio Show. Apparently he moved to Germany to take charge of new Mac Baren acquisitions there a few years back (I remember hearing about that at that time) but the Mac Baren leadership has changed and with it their focus. Per was laid off (well, “fired” was the word he used) when they decided not to focus on pipe tobacco at that particular German company.
Mac Baren has of course been making pipe tobacco for well over a century but Per Jensen really put them on the map when it came to high quality blends such as the HH line and the modern Amphoras. Too bad he had to go, but it’s nice he’s been able to work with Sutliff.
As for Brian Doran, love that guy! Him and Bradley are pretty much the only YTPC guys I watch these days.
GL Pease Robusto was inspired by Sobranie VA #10. Might have the character you liked with less nicotine.
Paradoxical is pretty good in my opinion! I've already recorded the full review, and I ended up impressed.
Speaking of rustica, I think you should check out the HH Rustica blend of mcbaren as well. I've heard quite scary things about the blend😁
I've also heard that HH Rustica is a real kicka** high nic blend and will have your head spinning and your stomach churning.
It's on my list!

I've grown some rustica. It has a distinctive flavor, albeit subtly so. I was not impressed with the supposedly outrageous nicotine level.
