A while ago I started looking for a new car. My wife said it had to have four doors, leather seats and able to fit a pram--the rest was up to me. I naturally suggested an E60 M5 and that's when I started watching your channel. After doing some more research I ended up buying a Lexus ISF. I had no idea Lexus made cars like this--great fun.
I know it’s a stereotype, but Japanese companies and workers really can’t bear the shame to hear complaints about their products, so they will do their best in all things.
@Brenton L The Japanese are a unique culture. They build things well, by copying other designs and mimicking the features; usually invented and found on European luxury cars. I have no respect for their method of doing business. I can care less about the pride they have in something that is "never original". Lexus is for those who value durability over style, performance, panache, innovation, handling, braking etc. Buy a Lexus to get a Japanese version of a Mercedes/BMW, then keep it 25 years and be completely out of date with the latest technology moving forward. People will be flying around in the air, in BMW's powered by water or solar power, while Lexus owners will be driving the broken streets below them in 25 yr old cars with 250,000 miles on them. lol
@Matthew Aniston He keeps saying, he's cheap himself, and never bought a new car ever, which is like a lot of mechanics. Why he doesn't splurge for a Lexus or Land Cruiser, IDK, his grand kids will reap that YT money.
@Matthew Aniston he’s a cheap ass biased old fart. He only thinks Toyota and Honda are good, and they are, but there are other good manufacturers out there.
to say Toyota has gone “downhill” with their North American production is a bit hyperbolic but do agree vehicles made in Japan seem 2 have better quality.
the Germans make nice vehicles with great suspensions and a boatload of gadgets. this is what sells their vehicles. these buyers put those things above reliability.
I had my ‘16 RAV4 for 4 years and only had it at the dealer for regular service. Never gave me a problem in 60,000 miles. Just leased the ‘20 NX F sport 6 months ago. I love that I don’t have to waste time at the dealer or use a loaner car like the Jaguar. I can’t imagine owning anything but a Toyota/Lexus. I could see myself as a customer for life!
Same here,I thought about Audi but....I thought the amount of time I spend on the road per year and the GS gas given me ZERO problems and I mean zero! I spend more money on tyres & brake pads than on repairs.
As much as I love Mercedes and BMW I ended up buying the Toyota Rav4 Hybrid and that was because of the reliability and build quality of this suv. It might not be as exciting as the German makes but I can live with that and 20 years down the it will still be running as good as the day I purchased it.
Sorry toyota en lexus and not fast car:( still boring car I come from toyota familly and got tired I chose bmw their a hell fast when I am old and don’t want to run I will buy again toyota/lexus(0 tech and powerless)
Great video. As to the "boring performance cars" from Lexus (which you addressed beautifully with the LC500).....we own two Lexus vehicles: I drive a 2015 GS350; the wife drives a 2015 RX350. I've owned a Corvette, three Porsches, and other performance cars over the years.....and I'd put my GS350 up against any of them. It's a well mannered, high powered rocket with superb fit and finish. Truly a luxury performance sedan that takes a back seat to NO one.
This guy knows his subject. No pauses, "ummm"s or "ahhh's" in his delivery and always straight to the point with his message, and in words you can understand with no bad language or "cutesy" voice and delivery. I would buy a car from this guy.
ExoticCar PlayPlace no not really. The hybrid is the way to go for long term ownership and it’s fast enough for my use. If I only had the car for a day(testing) with a full tank I’ll go for the V8! But when you have to buy, own and operate ... you think different.
Hey, my Rx330 is 16 years old and she still run smoothly quiet. The only downside is that you need to bear with the fuel economy (compare to other newer model).
So true! Lexus remains a super reliable vehicle. I own a 2009 IS250 so it’s only weakness is the carbon buildup , but I walnut blasted it for like $400 and its good as new. That would be the only Achilles heal I can think of with my car.
Very happy with mine, I have a 2008 gx470' bought new and its 2019 and 180.000 miles no problems other than the paint and regular maintenance ,this thing just keeps going . Ill buy the new one soon.
I own a 2011 Lexus ES350 since April 2018. Financed it at 87k miles. It has been over 2 years now and currently I am at 192k miles, drove it for 105k miles and all this time, I never had any issues with it, only tires, rotors and brake pads have been replaced and car still runs like new. I believe every word this guy said. It was my first Lexus I drove and I am obsessed with this car. I can’t think of any other luxury brand for such an inexpensive price. Lexus wins the game in every aspect. You can’t go wrong with buying a Lexus. I have someone who is buying it next month and I am already in the market for a newer Lexus model. I do own a 2014 Mercedes C250, but I much prefer driving Lexus, because it is way smoother than my C250.
Thank you for this video as I'm a long time BMW owner who is sick of reliability issues. Plus, in Australia almost every set of lights has camera's so it's difficult to enjoy performance cars. I'm selling my 3 BMW'S and moving to Lexus. Thanks mate.

In general, i have found that things made in Japan by japanese workers have high quality and reliability. Anything from hi-fi, cars or swords. They have insane amount of pride in their work.
I have a Toyota Venza 2009 V6 AWD and it has the similar 2GR-FE engine found in most of these Lexus models like GS350, RX350 and IS350. They are just tuned and tweaked for more performance.
You are very welcome and you are right, it’s easy to talk about stats but what is the long term and ownership issues, costs, financial implications, etc of these great performance and luxury cars.
Yup! I just bought a new Camry as a second vehicle. I found one of those 2% of Camrys sold in America that is actually built in Japan rather than Kentucky USA.
Realistically I’ve never needed to go 100+ mph, And been in a place to safely need MORE power than my ES 330 has I think the power is smooth and competent
The older Lexus LS460, I read that a technician uses a stethoscope on the 4.6L V8 engine while it's running listening for any defects before putting them in the vehicle. Now that is attention to detail.................
TRUE. I’ve owned my 2005 UL LS 430 for 13 years and 220k trouble free miles (sure the timing belt and accessories are expensive to replace, but WORTH IT). OVERALL; Built quality is top notch, ‘Black-on-Black’, and is still handsome as hell.
Ilpurchased a 2010 GS350 I had it for 2 months I loved it a friend of mine had a 2017 GS350 F Sport in his garage he never drove it had eight thousand miles he wanted my 2010 so we traded and of course I gave him a few dollars LOL I love the 2017 GS 350 F Sport I will never buy any other car but a Lexus I've gotten so many compliments from Young and older people men and women the only other car that's on my list is a Corvette Stingray C7 that's it
Sounds like the 2017 is def a keeper! I negotiated a 2015 last year that had only 16K but was beaten out by someone - price was just $24K. It was a great buy! These models have gotten more spendy once they announced their discontinuation.
I'm happy losing a car race in the LC500 all day long... it's just so luxurious and comfortable in there, literally you can meditate in there... just another level!
I agree with reliability counter balanced by lack on innovation. I’ve had my 4runner for 5 years with absolutely zero issues. Everytime I am getting it serviced the salesman always wants me to buy a newer 4runner which is 5 years later exactly the same car ... so there no impetus for me as customer/owner to replace it
Can’t disagree here. This is reliability that even buying a 10 years old Accord at 51k miles, and it’s going solid at 78k. It never went to garage other than normal oil change or brake pads. To me reliability is top priority as I hate to be stranded on motorway. So no surprise breakdowns or expensive repair bills. That’s keep me rich.
Reliability and Performance are inversely proportional . Both do not go hand in hand . You want a reliable appliance , buy Lexus . You want performance, buy BMW . You want to date a farm girl or you want to date a Model . Life is too short to drive an appliance or date a farm girl . 😜
I love my 1998 Lexus GS 400 with 218000 miles. It's silver with chrome rims and grey leather interior no rips, leaks or rust. It still looks and drive like new.
I bought an older used Lexus off the street and I don’t think I’m switching brands any time soon. Absolutely love it. Even though it’s an 06, it drives so smooth I can’t even tell it’s on. When I do upgrade, I will do what I can to get one of the newer joints. 👌🏽
I have driven the XLE Camry for a long time. It's not a huge leap in price to get an IS or ES. I only wish that Lexus updated the gadget cluster infotainment. My heated seats I just hit a button. Turn off hit the button. I bet the next time I shop for a car I do another comparison of the higher-end models of Toyota vs the lower end models of Lexus.
I drive a 2014 IS 350 with 65k miles. I love it! Husband has a 97 LS 400 with 240k miles and it looks like and drives like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Proud Lexus owner here! ❤
Good morning Mark, great and honest video, and that's why I'm having a hard time deciding on a new vehicle, Lexus' may not have the turbo etc like BMW but still make a great product 👍
Good morning Scott. I hear you on the decision, it can be difficult. The Lexus cars certainly have a strong focus on quality and attention to detail and the cars like BMW and Porsche are more performance and reliability secondary. The question to be asked is how tolerant a person is go maintenance issues. I know for me, performance still trumps all else because I really do believe that life is too short to drive boring cars. The ISF was a fantastic car as wa S the LFA and even the LC500 is wonderful as shown in the video.
After owning BMW m5 Mercedes Eclass and so on . I now have a Lexus 250is not a racing car but a very nice drive and I don't get in it thinking I wounder what will go wrong next !
Man thank you for making a video to let people know the truth by getting peoples attention via video and sound!! Lexus is absolutely the best automobile brand in the world for multiple reasons, so many that it overshadows the Germans! Yea Rolls Royce is what people think of as “ultimate luxury” the best of luxury cars simply because of the high price! People think high price=better product and unfortunately this mindset has been created by all of the marketing that control our lives! Yes Rolls has nice materials and is unique and hand built but it isn’t worth the $500,000 price tag that will be at the dealer constantly! That is how these cars are designed, to need lots of maintenance and services. They just aren’t reliable! Lexus is without a doubt the most reliable automobiles! A used Lexus is a commodity and hidden truth!
Nice review on the Lexus brand. What do you think of the GS 350? This awesome model is discontinued after this year. Would you recommend picking one up for a good price with low miles? I'm thinking maybe a 2018 or thereabouts in the F Sport trim. I think this model has always been a winner dating back to the 90s. They've always gotten stellar reviews and are reliable of course. It may become a cult classic one day.
Go for it you won’t be disappointed but get the f sport model because in sport plus mode it feels like a sports car through the corners the chassis is very well made and balanced. I picked up a 2017 gs 350 awd f sport with 9000kms fully loaded in June for 48,000 cad after taxes.
@@dankchron1617 thanks for your comments. I'm definitely looking for an F-Sport trim, they will hold up better in value also. A friend of mine has one and the initial acceleration from stop is quick - engine feels like a V8. These cars are pretty expensive in the US. I saw a 2019 last week for $44,300 that has 13K, black on black. If i get one, it will replace my daily. I have my BMW F30 as my weekend ride.
I have a 21 year old 1st generation Rav4 and its about to hit 200k miles. Have only done all its recommended services and no repairs. No lights on the dash and I plan on seeing how much longer it will go!
Turbos super chargers lower engine life. I love Bmw Mercedes even Cadillac...but, ever toyota Lexus I’ve ever owned were the best most reliable cars I’ve ever owned
My daily is a 2002 GS300 with just under 300k miles on it. To be fair, it has had some work done on it like the upper/lower ball joints, a wheel bearing, upper radiator hose and minor exhaust work but I don’t think I have ever had had a car this reliable. My Ford zx2 cost a lot to keep replacing brakes, exhaust, struts and a steering rack. That car was from new and it cost more than this older Lexus by more than double to fix. Still smooth and quiet and runs perfectly. All you gotta do is maintain it. I am sold on Lexus.
Lexus should gift you a car! You just done their marketing advert for them. Nothing more powerful than the message you just gave out. I am actually on the hunt for one but my Honda just wont give me an excuse at the minute. But im sold good work & well done :) Stay safe.. Thank you
Just choose based on how many people you regularly ride with, you just can't go wrong with either, I drive an RC F, married but not planning on having a kid any time soon.
Bought an IS350 F-sport 3 back in 2016 brand new when I graduated. Really regretted it for years because it lacked the power and features of Mercedes, Audi and BMW...but now that I'm a few years wiser, I've grown to appreciate the fact I've had no mechanical issues with my car after 4 years and 90,000 km. I needed a safer winter vehicle so I did what I thought I would never do - bought myself another Lexus - RX350 Executive package. Really enjoying it so far.
In a perfect world, the BMW driving experience built with Toyota/Lexus level quality would be my ideal vehicle. But I am open to other opinions about how one is better than the other.
Reliability is the greatest luxury.

@@Kingzus you lease bm you buy Lexus..there is the reason behind that theory...
How can you tell GS is the best line when haven’t driven LS ES RX LFA ,etc
Omg, GS model was the crown 👑
You're preaching to the quire my friend...A proud 2014 Lexus IS350 owner here and I also used to own a 1990 Lexus LS 400...Simply the Best cars in the World.
Definitely a stereotype since there are plenty of bad Japanese car companies. Honda and Toyota are great, the rest are average and below average.
They are killed if they mess up
That's why Toyota, Honda, Subaru cars/SUV's are made in the USA. Give me a break! Hardly any Japanese vehicle is still made in Japan!
People will be flying around in the air, in BMW's powered by water or solar power, while Lexus owners will be driving the broken streets below them in 25 yr old cars with 250,000 miles on them. lol

and also approved this video.
He only thinks Toyota and Honda are good, and they are, but there are other good manufacturers out there.
no manufacturer makes a perfect vehicle, but Toyota/Lexus is as close as you’re gonna get.
True to that
Only a Toyota built in Japan. Lately Toyota has came to America and went downhill. Maybe Mazda can fix this problem
to say Toyota has gone “downhill” with their North American production is a bit hyperbolic but do agree vehicles made in Japan seem 2 have better quality.
Are you insane? Lexus has never beaten the Germans in car sales. Never! Why?
the Germans make nice vehicles with great suspensions and a boatload of gadgets. this is what sells their vehicles. these buyers put those things above reliability.
I love the fact that your content has become very diverse and not mostly BMW focused.... been a follower for so long and am loving this move.
Thanks a lot, that is much appreciated.
All of a sudden driving a Lexus or Toyota is cool , I made it cool ;)
Cheers
Sorry toyota en lexus and not fast car:( still boring car I come from toyota familly and got tired I chose bmw their a hell fast when I am old and don’t want to run I will buy again toyota/lexus(0 tech and powerless)

Another thing Lexus and Toyota have is excellent service departments! Consumer Reports rated them 1 & 2 best dealership service department!

I can get my car washed at the Lexus dealership.
The GS is great and I absolutely adore the LC500
This guy knows his subject. No pauses, "ummm"s or "ahhh's" in his delivery and always straight to the point with his message, and in words you can understand with no bad language or "cutesy" voice and delivery. I would buy a car from this guy.
Thanks a lot for your support. Have an awesome day.
I changed my i8 for a LC 500h! I am getting a new LS 500h soon. Reliability is the factor that keeps the value up in the long run, keeping cost down.
They are great cars. Did you consider the straight up V8 in that LC?
I know Lexus IS reliable car but fast like German car NAh
ExoticCar PlayPlace no not really. The hybrid is the way to go for long term ownership and it’s fast enough for my use. If I only had the car for a day(testing) with a full tank I’ll go for the V8! But when you have to buy, own and operate ... you think different.
Klaus Nielsen well bmw. X5 45e is hibri and even faster and more luxury then rx
Julio Huang it is! I am not considering the RX but the LS. The new X5 45e is a very interesting car on a lease.
We own IS350, ES350 and NX200T they're luxury, comfortable, safety.😎
Hey, my Rx330 is 16 years old and she still run smoothly quiet. The only downside is that you need to bear with the fuel economy (compare to other newer model).
With decades as a Luxury new and used car manager, I agree with all I heard here. Good job, and I agree that Scotty would agree.
Thanks for watching
Well done Mark... you hit the nail with this review. Cheers.
Thank you very much
We currently have 3 Lexus and have a total of 6 of them. The quality is impeccable!🌞
Love my 2010 Lexus ISF in obsidian black. Only 50k km and no problems whatsoever!! Coming to you from Australia! Cheers for finally praising Lexus
Cheers and great to hear from you. That sounds like a stunning car. I love the ISF as it’s a real drivers car, great choice.
Me too mate. 2009 ISF in black, 87k km. Best car and very rare in Australia. Only 7 available on Car Sales right now.
Certainly is mate. Just checked Carsales.com and only 4 now! These things sell like hot cakes. Well worth it too with the bulletproof 2UR GSE engine

BMW could only dream of that level of reliability.
BMW is garbage. I could have 10mill in the bank and still wouldn't buy one.

Lexus wins because I’ve NEVER taken mine in for any repairs whatsoever, only regular maintenance.
They are bulletproof
I have a Toyota Venza 2009 V6 AWD and it has the similar 2GR-FE engine found in most of these Lexus models like GS350, RX350 and IS350. They are just tuned and tweaked for more performance.
No doubt the only car I drive since 2003. The king of reliability and smoothness😀
FINALLY!! there you are, praising a Lexus!! Lol... Love you for that ❤️
Very informative videos. You are discussing the most important topic about vehicle brands that not much of the reviewers even care about. Thank you!
You are very welcome and you are right, it’s easy to talk about stats but what is the long term and ownership issues, costs, financial implications, etc of these great performance and luxury cars.
And made in Japan is most important.
Yup! I just bought a new Camry as a second vehicle. I found one of those 2% of Camrys sold in America that is actually built in Japan rather than Kentucky USA.
Absolutely👍.
A+ info here Mark. Reliability has some trade-offs in performance and tech - well said. It all comes down to what the buyer wants.
Thanks a lot Brian. Cheers

Realistically I’ve never needed to go 100+ mph,
And been in a place to safely need MORE power than my ES 330 has
I think the power is smooth and competent
I can’t believe he didn’t mention the RX number one selling car in their lineup for many years
The older Lexus LS460, I read that a technician uses a stethoscope on the 4.6L V8 engine while it's running listening for any defects before putting them in the vehicle. Now that is attention to detail.................
I wish I could afford an IS-300h, that's my ideal luxury car
You can find some good bargains on those on the market these days. Given Lexus's reliability you could even purchase a model with some miles on it.
Lexus and Toyota are just the best!!! No doubts
Thanks they are reliable and a couple cars are really fun the drive like the LC500 and RCs
I have NX 300 5.5 years- very happy 😃

A little bit more performance would be nice, but I love my IS FSport and def do not regret choosing it over a 3 series.

TRUE. I’ve owned my 2005 UL LS 430 for 13 years and 220k trouble free miles (sure the timing belt and accessories are expensive to replace, but WORTH IT). OVERALL; Built quality is top notch, ‘Black-on-Black’, and is still handsome as hell.

Sounds like you have a great couple of keeper cars for sure.
I enjoy watching your videos you're very informative and believable keep up the good work and stay healthy you and your family
The LC500 is a beautiful unit and I would own one.
I’m on my 6th Lexus, the quality and reliablity works for me
Cheers
I agree with reliability counter balanced by lack on innovation. I’ve had my 4runner for 5 years with absolutely zero issues. Everytime I am getting it serviced the salesman always wants me to buy a newer 4runner which is 5 years later exactly the same car ... so there no impetus for me as customer/owner to replace it
Exactly, they are wonderful vehicles
Can’t disagree here. This is reliability that even buying a 10 years old Accord at 51k miles, and it’s going solid at 78k. It never went to garage other than normal oil change or brake pads. To me reliability is top priority as I hate to be stranded on motorway. So no surprise breakdowns or expensive repair bills. That’s keep me rich.
Cheers
Reliability and Performance are inversely proportional . Both do not go hand in hand . You want a reliable appliance , buy Lexus . You want performance, buy BMW .
You want to date a farm girl or you want to date a Model .
Life is too short to drive an appliance or date a farm girl .

The ISF was a fantastic car as wa

Thank you for supporting
Always a good video from you . Not sure what dealer you were at but you might have run into me if it was Virgina 4 weeks ago. 😄
I’ve owned 3 , they are awesome !
Great cars
I’ll agree from my 2002 Es 300 daily driver.
