I wish this was more known. I used activated charcoal almost daily for months because the product said it could be used daily and my teeth got more sensitive. I still use it occasionally, but didn’t realize it should be this little. What products do you recommend for more regular use?
Maddie Schmidt just regular toothpaste is fine. I like Colgate. All toothpastes have a little abrasive in it for whitening. Also your teeth will look whiter after a dental cleaning as well.
Hey doc. I recently bought one active charcoal powder before seeing this video. I haven't used it yet, but it says on the package that its fine, gentle and non abrasive. Should i use it?
I have the VIP Smiles Organic Coconut Charcoal powder , I use it after my regular toothpaste. I want whiter teeth during my childhood using baking powder for whiter. Should I stop using the charcoal?
i see you kind of changed your opinion about activated charcoal, Dr. Kantor. Wouldn't it be better for dentist and patients to talk about the RDA abrasiveness scale of activated charcoal?
@@KantorDental Not at all, I am trying to better clean my teeth because everything is closed down due to the pandemic and they are somewhat stained. I thought baking soda was really abrasive to the teeth but now it appears it is as abrasive as water and I was wondering how abrasive charcoal really is. I just want my teeth a little bit whiter 😢
I’m a dental hygienist there is no “safe way” ultimately you’ll still damage the enamel somewhat Just make sure your enamel is strong enough. Once every 2 years profesional whitening should be good if you’re maintains cleanings.
@@gesterloveI went to the dentist for a cleaning and a few weeks later for a whitening treatment. My teeth didn't change very much. How can I whiten them?
Thanks Doc. I might use this between cleanings. Since I try to make it every 6 months, I will try to lightly do this every 3.
Green that makes sense

Tshego I’m not sure. Sounds like you really want to use charcoal.
Hey doc, I always used activated charcoal powder on my regular toothpaste everyday for 10 months now. Is it fine to switch back to regular toothpaste?
quince yes that’s fine. In fact I would only use activated charcoal sparingly.
Your thoughts on using activate charcoal floss as part of my daily regimen.
Theopolis sounds great!

I have a black toothpaste that starts off black but when I brush for a few seconds, the toothpaste becomes white. Is that type of toothpaste safe?
Step I’m not sure. It depends on how abrasive it is.
