Hard to believe that "Pyromania" is 40 YEARS OLD now! It has held up well. Great episode, Frank!
Thanks Tom.
It’s actually 41 now! They were just late getting it out!
Thanks for sharing Frank! You would think that the guys in the Def Leppard camp would make the writing in that book larger considering the age demographic that most of their fans are in, LOL!😂
Ha! No kidding! I was getting upset at Guitar World magazine recently, assuming they shrunk their font because it was getting harder to read it... but in that case, I think once again, it's a me aging problem, lol.
I’ve been enjoying the new Sebastian Bach album.
That almost sounds like Dangerous Toys in the intro! 🤘
New Bach great Album!!!!!
Even though I'm mostly a prog rock/prog metal guy, I could say that Def Leppard may be in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. Maybe even my second favorite, after Rush. But the reason is more profound that just the music. When I was a young teen, I started to learn drums, and the first songs I played to were Def Leppard's. I ended up playing pretty much the entirety of High n Dry and Pyromania. So in other words, I learned drums with them. Also, High n Dry and Pyromania are probably still to this day the albums I have listened to the most often. Had the albums recorded each side of a 90 minute tape, and on my walkman I would listen to them in the bus to and from school. Also, Def Leppard's albums was among the first ones I owned, and they were the very concert I went to see on my own (meaning without my parents - I was actually with a group of friends). It was the Hysteria tour, and with Tesla opening, it made for a very memorable night! Needless to say that Def Lep has a very special place in my heart ☺
Pyromania was the first rock album I ever purchased (on cassette, of course). Still have the cassette and the og LP. But I did buy the new remaster. It is my favorite Def album and I like every song on it. I always thought the beginning of Die Hard The Hunter was so cool.
I STILL have my original Pyromania record from when I was kid (I'm 48 btw) along w/ Quiet Riot 'Metal Health', and Maidens 'NOTB'. I can't believe I STILL have those! But yeah man, I want that 5.1 mix too! (Sidenote, all those old records have tracing indentations on them from me tracing the record covers, it helped me learn how to draw Eddie AND that Quiet Riot mask lmao!)
Very cool that you held on to all those records. I have all my originals from back in the day as well. A lot of history in those albums.
Sir Frank, thanks for the shout out with my pics of the wine hifi shop! It’s interesting that by equating fine wine with high end audio equipment they are actually trying to sell a lifestyle, aren’t they?
Nooooo! Pyromania can't be 40 years old! Those were the days of cranking the cassette in my Camero Z28 with the T-tops out. Great video as usual Frank.
Sweet! I've always wanted a Z28.
I love that intro song Frank. Fantastic 👏.
i am a consistent watcher of your show, but have recently started down sizing my collection and selling off the "weeds" in my collection. I feel that sometimes our collections begin to weigh us down and we can even lose our excitement for listening, as we can become overwhelmed by too much choice and even turned off to the hobby. Just wondering, what are your thoughts, considering we can literally listen to any music via apple music or youtube. Rock On!
Maybe vinyl records just aren't your thing?
I agree with you. We can sometimes get weighed down by our collections (not just records, but anything really). I am a firm believe in trimming the fat once in awhile, and getting rid of records I don't love. I will tackle this in a future vid. I have already recorded a couple Q&A episodes, which I have in the can, but I will try to do this one in July. Cheers!
Love the new intro music
Got new Sebastian Bach today and its great it sounds little like classic skid row to me. I think most fans of classic Skid Row would enjoy it.
Keep on runnin'!
Don't stop runnin'!
Hope you dig the tunes. Thank you for the kind words! Trish
Thanks again Trish!!!
Skid Who??? Bach rules!
🤘🏼🤠👍🏼
I'm digging the new Bach for sure, and also what Skid Row has been doing. We get a 2 for 1 deal nowadays... That said, I'm not sure what SR will do next. I saw one of the last shows with Erik and I thought he was great.
@@Channel33RPM - Watched that Lzzy Hale sing for them at their recent shows on You Tube. Odd combination.
@@EmJayDabeatyou got it right with Skid who! That band has not been relevant since 96! People can praise Erik all they want but they forget he is knkw as a covers man/replacement singer! The first band he was in, he was a replacement singer! Then Skid who he was a replacement singer! Even when he sang live for Skid who they play 99% Bach sung songs! They never played anything from the three releases that Johnny recorded! You look at Erik’s RUclips channel & all he has on there are covers!
The guy has a good voice but he has zero clue on how to make original music! Would love to see him actually write a song of his own & post it, but again he has no clue on how! Never understood how people can praise a singer like a few do! Also, that Skid who album he recorded, the stores where I live can’t give the thing away!
As for Lzzy with them right now, her vocal style doesn’t fit the music they play! Bands write songs or rearrange songs to fit the vocals! Her vocals fit Halestorm perfectly! It’s the reason I have never liked any cover she did or the duet she did with Tom on Nobody’s Fool!
Pyromania is a killer album. Thanks for the review of the anniversary edition. Will likely need to pick k it up.
It's a good one, especially if you have a 5.1 set up.
I do. Sony Home theater Blu Ray system that cranks!
I looked at all the combos of the box set and wish they had on with the album on vinyl and included the blu ray discs.
What was that famous saying, " If the font is to small......" lol,
A good selection music.
Gig harbor Audio in Washington state is also a hifi/wine shop.
Way cool intro Frank. Love your content.
Thanks Mike.
That Pyromania set looks awesome. I think Im going to also pick up the new Sebastian Bach on CD.
Great video Frank! Cheers!😎🤘✌👍
Thanks 👍. Good to hear from you, Jack!
It's not the font, it's our old eyes. Why are fonts getting smaller as we get older? lol. Great video, hope you're doing well. Miss the videos with your wife. Are you planning on more?
I'm in denial! :)
Often the highlights of reissues are the "making of..." stories in the books or booklets. Mark Powell of Cherry Red Records in the UK does some good ones. I'm currently enjoying *The Missing Piece* (1977) recently released from Gentle Giant in surround.
Awesome video 😊👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome bro
Thanks JC.
Love the show I love the whitesnake albums with the revised songs..do you have the Red white blue trilogy on vinyl.? I do. Keep up the reviews. The unboxings are great. If I never buy em I can see em.
Thanks man! I don't have the Red, White and Blue set, but I do have the super deluxe box sets for Slide It In, 1987, and Slip of the Tongue. They are very well done.
Hi Frank. Thank you for this great video. I like the Pyromania set.... however on the fence because of the price. May or may not get it. Not sure. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Tino. It is expensive. I found the best price was at Importcds.com, even with exchange and U.S. shipping.
You gotta check out King Gizzard And The Lizard mainly their albums infest the rats nest and PetroDragonic Apocalypse
Great show Frank - I love all these new box set reissues of classic albums. I have a recent box set version of Vienna by Ultravox and the content is very similar to the Def Leppard album. If that german shop sells Hi-Fi and wine, why dont you pick up with Crown Royal to see if they are interested, haha. Have a great weekend with your family and keep on spinnin !!
Cheers Graham! Have a great weekend as well.
I wonder what effect this would have. If like with many DVDs 📀, you got a free digital download with the purchase of the record.
Today, your video popped up and it also has the blue dot on your channel listing on my subscriptions. Your videos do not always show for me and recently only came up when I clicked on your channel listing.
I don't care for Dolby Atmos or 5.1 mixes. I prefer Stereo or Mono. Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes are the sound equivalents to 3D in films. They are a novelty and just a fad to make more money for the labels. I have a Soundbar, but don't have the facility to listen to them.
The best Producer of 5.1s and Dolby Atmos mixes is from what I have read is Steven Wilson. He has done a lot of them for various reissues (mainly Prog Artists). He is very subtle and doesn't bulldozer the original mixes. He has won awards for some of his mixes.
Steven Wilson's Gentle Giant surround mixes are exceptional. Another very skilled remix guy is Stephen Tayler, who did the Be-Bop Deluxe albums recently. Some of the old quad albums are excellent, like the 4 Doobie Brothers "Quadio" Blurays. I haven't heard many "gimmicky" surround albums at all. I doubt that you can appreciate them fully with a soundbar system, though.
Something weird has been going on with YT...
Who's doing vocals on the new intro? I dig it. Sounds like Sebastian.
Believe it or not, the audio is mostly AI generated. I added some embellishments and the video. It's pretty bananas where technology is at.
@@Channel33RPM wow yah that's crazy.
Mate, I've never unsubscribed from you, but my subscription had totally gone, had to reenable for all notifications. Something's definitely changed on that front. No wonder I haven't seen you post anything for a while! Great to see you again, thanks as always.
Thanks! Yeah, something weird is up lately with YT. My views are way down as well.
Those first three Def Leppard albums are fantastic. After that they went to sissy town and never came back.
I agree. I've liked a few things here and there (including, oddly enough, the Slang album), but they haven't done anything fantastic in decades, IMO.
This was the last great and best album from them IMHO, downhill from there
i thought this was Def Leppard Free Friday?🤮
(but i can hack High-n-Dry)
Frank, can't remember but have you read geezer butler's autobiography into the void,?
I have. I really liked it - an easy, but good, read. You?
@@Channel33RPM yeah. I really enjoyed it. Finished it in a few days. It was funny when Bill wards mom yelled at Iommi for setting her son on fire. I was lucky to get a signed copy.
Bach’s new album kicks ass! I don’t put it on the same level as Skid Row’s newest, but it’s awesome.
It’s not on the same level as Skid Marks, it far better!
Hi Frank, love your channel, I'm a fairly new subscriber and vinyl collector, I'm 57 and live about an hour west of Detroit. Anyway I was wondering if you have heard of The band Greta Van Fleet. They are a modern rock band with a classic rock sound some people compare them to Zeppelin. Check them out if you get a chance they rock. Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Thank you - and welcome aboard. Yes, I am familiar with GVF, but I haven't really sat down and listened to them, aside from a couple of singles. Where do you recommend I start?
Frank
@@Channel33RPM Hi Frank, I like all their stuff, you can start anywhere. I definately think they get better with each album they have put out. I have purchased all of them on Vinyl! If you like classic rock you will like them. Thanks for responding!
The new Bach album is good but that album cover is hideous
I agree. Terrible cover.
