    I use that very "Yamaha" receiver for a home theater system myself! 🤘🏻Great review.

    Hey, I have the Sansui Au-217 and Tu-217 tuner that I bought back in 1978. Have not found a place to use it yet since my main system now is relatively new. Always loved the way it sounds.

      Very cool. I love those old Sansui amps. I found mine at a thrift store for $10, believe it or not. Just needed a good good cleaning - works perfect. I would love to get one of the larger ones someday.

    If you don't need the remote or VU meter, you can get a passive 2-in, 2-out device like the TC-7220 for less.
    It's too ugly for the living room, but on a test bench, you can take a couple of old 4 way Radio Shack 40-244 passive speaker selectors and hook one of them up backward as an amp selector, and have 4 in, 4 out. However, these old switches allow multiple selections at once, so be extra careful not to select multiple amps at the same time!

    Great bit of kit to review, I've tried a couple of cheap input changers that weren't that good so I might have to investigate this brand a bit more. Cheers 👍

    I made my own amp switch by using an industrial 4 channel "break before make" 2 way switch to switch between my home theater amp and Hifi amp before multiple products came to market that do the same thing. It cost me $20 and it is nice knowing for sure my amps will never be at risk of trying to send power to each other due to the way mine is designed, but definitely dig the big VU meters on this Fosi.

    and what's the result? Do vinyl sound good? What's the amp/speaker separation? (Can we hear music for other source, or from other speakers?)

    I don’t need it at all but I do love vu meters so might buy it anyway. By the way my Yamaha receiver I can use pure direct and just the front two speakers and it sounds great with vinyl. I have a rx-a 2080.

    I bought it a while back and then returned it. Very, very disappointed. It does the basic switching well, but when you buy something like this you want to see the meters go back and forth. Its lack of sensitivity was a deal breaker for me since cranking the receiver loud enough for them to work was a no go. I’m sticking with the Douk until Fosi re-engineers.

    I was thinking.. wow who would need something that enables you to switch amps in your sound system. Then you showed us the movie theatre set up and it makes perfect sense👍👍👍keep on spinning!!

    The VU’s does what they should, you just don’t put in more watts than they show, you will not use as much as you believe!

    I have the Douk Audio VU3 which is similar to your Fosi Audio. The only differences between the two are the Douk amp/speaker switch I a bit smaller and the VU meter sensitivity is not adjustable. However, at my normal listening levels, the Douk VU needles move satisfactorily with the needle dancing between -20 and 0 db. It’s been a nice addition to my system, switching between tube and solid state amps, floor standing and stand mounted speakers.

    I hesitate to buy this because I don't know how to hook it up to my aniyima amp and fosi amp. It would be helpful so I don't have to keep adjusting sound switching between vinyl and digital.

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  4 месяца назад

      It's easy to hook up... it's all done through speaker cables ... instead of running your amp to speakers, you run it this this box, via the speaker cables.

    • @Channel33RPM

      Good question. I don't have 2 set of speakers hooked up, but I'm pretty sure it's either A or B, not A and B.

    Just got a Pioneer SX-1250. Yeah, the big 160-watt receiver. Anyway, it doesn't have VU meters on it. Only two tuning meters. I'm planning on using one of these to compensate for that. I love having bouncing VU's to look at while I jam out!

    Looks interesting. When you have 50 different amps and receivers on top of 18 pairs of speakers gets cumbersome sometimes. (I bring them back from the dead and have fun).

  • @adventureawaits3646

    interesting idea. I agree that records don't sound that great through a modern receiver, I found a work around by getting a little tube pre-amp that has trebble and bass controls (something that's really lacking on receivers, at least my Denon have no tone control I can find) and it's made a huge difference.
    I still have my old Mission Cyrus II amp in the garage, set up for German power but I used it for many years with a transformer. Maybe it's time to dig that out again and use it for my vinyl, hmmm..

    Is it safe to use with a tube amp where a load is always necessary on the amp in case of accidentally switching to another amp and not turning the tube amp off first?

    I really like the fosi line if products. I have a BT20 pro amp hooked up to my computer with some fluance speakers. I did upgrade to the 48 volt power cord. That little system sounds pretty dam good. I will continue to buy other fosi audio products.

    Cool video on a very simple device. I was wondering why you'd need such a thing, but alternating amps as you showed with your home theater was a quick and easy explanation. My turntable setup is 100% separate from my home theater, but this makes a pretty strong case to get them all into one room actually.

    • @Channel33RPM

      It's actually pretty easy... it's all done via speaker wire. Instead of running your speaker wire to speakers, you run them to the switcher.

    How do the Yamaha and Sansui compare when playing records? I have a Yamaha RX-V573 7.2 and I use it with turntable and preamp, CDs, net radio, Airplay and I bi-amp my 2 speakers. I don't have a home theatre. Thinking of going to the Yamaha RX-V4A. with the same setup but built in Bluetooth and only 5.1. Great vid, thanks Frank.

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  4 месяца назад

      I'm using the RX-v485 ... sounds great for movies and digital audio, but I thought records sounded really dull and lifeless going through it. The Sansui is much better for analog audio, or at least records, IMO.

    Solupeak P3 is what I had settled on with toggle switches. I had bought a Linepaudio with push-button selectors that failed within weeks. The Fosi looks like better quality than Linepaudio, more sophisticated & sexier than the Solupeak for marginally more $$. Nice design!
