Mike McGear (the stage name for Paul McCartney's brother) released an album in 1974 called McGear, which on it's cover showed McGear lying on his back & tied down to the ground by hordes of little people, like in Gulliver's Travels. Among the many little people you can find Paul & Linda McCartney, and the other members of Wings. So it's kind of like an early game of Where's Waldo? Ha-ha. Paul McCartney & Wings were also the backing band on that album.
Speaking of Dookie. 1 version I still haven't seen in a record store is the one without the Ernie muppet on the back cover.
I can't even think of what would be left to find Frank. You probably already did a majority of them already. Good chance there will be a lot of the more obscure metal that can get away with it.
Actually, just thought of the cover for 200 Motels by Frank Zappa. It's kinda like Dookie. Depending if you like Zappa. LOL!
I absolutely love these videos. It's fun to find these Easter eggs. 😂
Glad you enjoyed!
On the cover of Dio´s "Dream Evil" there is a small green figure standing on the bed. Given the flute it probably represents Mr. Sandman. The figure seems to be modeled after the 'elf' that is on the back of Elf´s debut album (also smaller in the logo to be seen on the front), which by the way is Ronnie James Dio himself.
On Steve Miller’s greatest hits look at the horses main and you will see a silhouette of a woman laying on her side.
Whitesnake 'Slip of the Tongue" Turn it over and squint and you'll see a reference to Coverdale's white snake.
Never thought about the girl having a permanent wave on Rush's album cover but the chap waving in back is Hugh Syme, occasional keyboard player for 70s Rush and album cover designer.
Love the hidden stuff behind these album covers, especially that cryptic writnig on the Ozzie album. Thanks for sharing Frank !!
Thanks Graham - have a good week.
I noticed the Boston guitars the very first time I ever saw the cover when I was a kid. Most of these I did’t really notice until this video and the previous similar episodes.
Prince 1999 has a few, one is a tribute of his band's name that started with this album - in reverse. The Police's Ghost in the Machine features the "heads" of the band members on the cover, based on their hairstyles at the time - Andy, Sting and then Stewart :)
Well, for me a standout CD cover was EXODUS "Tempo pf the Damned" (2004). As someone who was a church organist, I was captivated by the dark side of organ music on the CD cover. 📀
The Rolls Royce on the cover of the Oasis is also a reference to The Who. Keith Moon drove his Rolls into a swimming pool. This was also referenced in a Pink Panther mover where Clouseau lost control of the the car he was driving and went into a swimming pool.
Cool - thanks for the info
My favourite is on the album "My arms, your Hearse" by Opeth. Creepy indeed!
The first Santana’s album has a lot of small images forming the Leon’s face. Wonderful cover art!
Iron maiden somewhere in time and sepultura arise have tons of hidden easter eggs
Batman standing on a ledge on Iron Maidens “Somewhere in time” along with many other easter eggs on that cover
I have owned "Dookie" since it came out and have never really looked at the cover. Maybe it's because I have the CD and I don't pour over CD's like I do albums. The Rush Easter Eggs I'm familiar with as I'm a huge Rush fan and own all their albums on vinyl. Thanks Frank!
Great vid Frank!! I actually never paid that close attention to that Dookie cover!! \m/
Open up the gatefold of Led Zeppelin 4(zoso) , and press the top edge to a mirror (with the gatefold open). It will make a wolfs head.
When I finally got Dookie on vinyl I spent the whole first two listens looking at the cover art. Same with Michael Jackson's Dangerous. Album covers I saw for years on cd but never would have noticed any of the fine details.
Back to that oasis album. Didn’t Keith Keith Moon supposedly drive a car into a pool?
Hmmm... could be a nod to Keith.
@@Channel33RPM well maybe both Beatles and The Who. This guys(with the stones) were the OG British Invasion
Would love one of these dedicated to Rush :)
My favorite was the Supertramp cover to Breakfast in America. Took YEARS to observe those were not building in the back lol. A guy came in the store this past Saturday and bought a copy. Said it was one of his favorite albums since he was a kid. I pointed it out to him and he was like....HOLY COW....I never paid attention to that lol.
That's a great album cover.
Just bought Moving Pictures today 🤗
The Satan on Mob Rules is incorrect but yes at the bottom it does say Kill Ozzy. I spoke to Greg Hildebrandt about this at a convention. The art was not created for this album. It was a painting that Greg did. The Kill Ozzy and I guess first appearance of Dio's Henry was added by someone else. Greg doesn't know who did it. You can find Greg's original painting on line. You will notice those two things are not on there.
Interesting... I've always wondered about the 'kill Ozzy.' Thanks for the info.
Cool video Frank 👍
Happy father's day to you as well!
Keep on spinning 👍 😊
Thanks 👍
I don't know if you've already talked about this one in your other videos, but Monster by Steppenwolf (the back cover specifically) definitely deserves some attention! One of the trippiest covers I've ever seen 😵💫
I will take a look at that one - thanks!
The Rainbow guitar is cool! Never knew that.
I like Steppenwolf Monster
Happy Father's Day Frank and all 33'ers🤘
The Oasis albun also has it's UK release date on it.
White albùm
That 2112 reference is awesome. Thank you.
First one I ever noticed was Santa's first album.
Some very cool insight!! Didn’t know a lot of that! Great video Frank! Happy Father’s Day! ⚡️⚡️
Thanks!
What's up with that Burton Cummings pic behind you?
He's always watching..... :)
@@Channel33RPM Stand Tall!
Indeed. I bought that pic and a signed album from Burton's webstore recently.
@@Channel33RPM I will check that site out! Thx
Great video bro
Hope you had a good Father's Day today Frank. Not sure if it's the same day in Canada as it is here in the States
Thanks! Yup - it was Father's Day here too.
Love the Oasis / Beatles homage !
