Chinese Name: 紅樓夢 (Hónglóumèng, “Dream of the Red Chamber” or “Dream of the Red Mansion,” the title of a famous 18th-century novel which forms the basis for the story. “The Story of the Stone” is another name for the same novel.)
Origin: Taiwan. A modern, gay-themed reimagining of Dream of the Red Mansion.
RATINGS
Overall: 2/10
Hot Guys: 7/10
Chinese Cultural Value: More like wasted potential. The basic premise of setting this very complex and fascinating story (considered one of the masterpieces of Chinese literature) in Taipei’s 21st-century gayborhood is really fun. But the connection to the rich source material is as superficial as the characters themselves.
Recommended: Nah. Anyone unfamiliar with the plot of the original book will be totally lost here, and anyone who knows the book will be disappointed. Partly successful in depicting the emptiness of drug-fueled hookup culture, but ultimately struggles to make a point.

Watched this movie and i totally agree with your review. This movie sucks. I don’t understand the message they are trying to tell, just showing off some nice bodies and the whole watching was so boring.
As we said in the Adonis movie review, our recommendation for this one is: “just watch porn instead” 🤣 (or read Red Mansion, which is far more interesting)
