@@christianjimenez5175 Yes, but mine was the opposite, it would stall when I stopped, like at a red light unless I shifted into neutral and held on the gas to keep the idle up. It was the idle air control valve. Cheap and easy fix.
$1,000 of that money I spent modding went to wheels and tires alone, so if you factor out the wheels then only about a thousand for all the other stuff. They're great cars to mod, and the 2.4's are very easy to work on. Good luck with your new Galant!
I don't have a garage either, and I deal with sub-arctic Pennsylvania winters and salt covered roads. Twice a year I do a complete process with the paint that involves hand washing and drying, claybaring, compounding, waxing and polishing....takes about 7 hours from start to finish. Other than that, I usually just wash it once every week or two (especially in the winter) with a high pressure washer. I try to take care of my stuff as best I can.
Love the clean galant, yeah agreeing with one of the comments, dropping the rear was a great idea, although i had to roll the fenders because i put 225/45/17 on the car, but for the best drop of front look for a coil kit, the tein springs just dont do it. But i do agree with the tailights getting old, the stock ones look alot better, personal opinion
They are wired directly to the battery so they can be on even when the car is turned off. I mounted a toggle swich below my fog light button and ran the wires through the firewall to the battery. I also used an inline fuse.
I never had a problem with the PS. I know you said the belt was tight, but what about the condition of the belt? The belt could still be slipping if it's glazed and shiny on the ribbing underneath, or a pulley could be worn causing it to slip. Can't think of any other reason it would go out only when it's raining. If it still looks good I would start by flushing the fluid. If that doesn't do it, the pump may just need to be replaced altogether. What year Galant do you have?
5 speed swap from an eclipse, then turbo it. Then add some bolt on's such as exhaust. When all the performance mods are done the ECU could also be reflashed and the speed governor disengaged. Don't forget about removing excess weight from the car as well (and that's free). If $ REALLY isn't an object, there are guys that have swapped evo motors into their Galants and made them sleepers. Check out the forums at thegalantcenter (dot) org they can really help you out!

Hey do you know if it's fine to use stp automatic transmission fluid mercon v (for use with certain Ford vehicles) with the 2003 Mitsubishi gallant? Will it mess up the car or would I be fine?
@TELLO3675 Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm on the forums at thegalantcenter (dot) org under the username Boochieboy. My Galant is the 2.4 liter 4 cyl ES. Only has 60,000 miles on it even though it's 9 years old (I got the car when it had 43,000 on it). I'm going to be uploading some how-to modding videos on it soon so stay tuned! These are great cars, I love mine! Thanks for the comment!
It's an 03 and it only has 60,000 miles on it. I've had the car 5 years and not once has it had any problems. No rust, solid car, decent gas mileage....so what's to trade up?
I have a weapon R intake and I'm thinking of a flowmaster exhaust with a magnaflow converter. I need new roaters and brake pads. Wheredid you get yours?

I will actually be making a video in the future on exactly what I do to detail the exterior and interior to keep the car in tip top shape. As soon as it stops raining here I'll try to get the videos done.

Hows she running today? I have the same car just got it last year its in pretty good shape. I want to dress it up and slap a body kit on it I just don't know a damn thing about cars.
Where I live we get lots of rain, and the roads have deep potholes in them. I didn't want to worry about the filter getting soaked being so close to the ground with a cold air system, and having to use a bypass valve/filter and all that, so I went short ram. Just my preference....and with a heat shield installed anyways, the (power) differences between my ram setup and a full cold air intake are not great enough to matter to me.
Hey do u mind posting the link for the taillights?? been look for them for ever, I already searched ebay for Elegante, and Alrezzas and still haven't found them.

There's really not much out there as far as aftermarket lights are concerned, unless they are custom made. You could always get the earlier 99-01 USDM tail lights, or the JDM tail lights. I was thinking about keeping my stock 02-03 tails and just blacking them out with dark vinyl.
I dot the DC bar at andysautosport (dot) com a few years back.....it's the one for the 00-05 eclipse. That G2 caliper paint is awesome. Two coats brushed on-it's been 4 years through salt snow and rain and they still look great.
+Melvin Capule This reply is probably way to late, but I had the same issue. First check your fuses to be sure your still receiving the 12v constant from the battery. My issue for the speedometer was becasue of a wiring job gone bad with the radio. I know that sounds dumb and they shouldnt be linked, but for me it was. There was one wire that had an intermittent 4.5 to 5 volts running through it and it was grounding through the radio. For me the wire was a solid yellow with a black stripe. I cut it and taped it off and did not have issues since.
If you want to stay with the 2.4 I would just rebuild it or drop in a 2.4 Eclipse motor which is the same. All the performance mods you can add to the 2.4 still are not going to beat just dropping in a stock V6 Galant engine, unless you're going to turbo the 2.4 that is. I've heard people doing Sonata or Optima engines in Galants with little effort, and of course Evo motors too. I had about $2000 extra in the car when this video was made, half of that however was wheels and tires.
